Win or Lose What do you want to see Out of Nebraska against Wisconsin

Recommended Posts

I want to see us play the first three quarters like we've been playing in the fourth quarter.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are chunks of the game where NU's offense would look bad. The o-line play has been that inconsistent and UW's defense is very stout. However, I think the Blackshirts can keep NU in the game until a big special teams play or Armstrong throw/run happens.

If we get it together on offense, we won't even have to ask IF we'll win.

So much this. Ive mentioned before, the first 5 games Langs really called plays to exploit the D. The past 2, not so much. I am sure part of this was due to injuries and what not, but bottom line is there are ways to scheme around 8 in the box, ineffective pass pro and other issues. Langs just needs to do this.

Will you guys actually be happy if NU "just keeps it close". To quote the late Dennis Green "You play to win the game!!!"

Being a Viking fan. I always laugh when I see that phrase by Denny G.

That's not how I remember him in the NFC title game.

Take a knee around the fifty yard line on third down with about 30 sec left, in a tied game. Randy M on one side and Chris C on the other. Yeah he "Played To Win The Game". I also think he had a timeout left; lol

GBR!!!

To Denny Green's defense, they had the game won if Anderson doesn't miss a FG for the first time all season.

No one will be happy if we lose Saturday, ehh some of the Bobots might be. I just want to see improvement, step by step. We have not faired well at Camp Randall, will be very hostile I am sure. Noise will be high, and pressure way up there for these kids to perform as demanded by them and some fans.

We have seen some pretty horrendous games played against Wisconsin. Play a good game, win or lose it will be bearable for me. Win the game, things change a lot down the road. But even playing them close will help this team and recruiting. We have not been able to be respectable there. A major step in that direction is needed. Keep going forward, keep being positive, support the kids no matter what happens. That is all I need to see.

Of course no one would be happy if we lost. But don't you think people would be much more frustrated with a blowout loss than a tight game that we end up losing by a couple of points? Did you feel the same after the 70-31 blowout loss to Wisconsin in the 2012 CCG as compared to last year when we got edged 23-21?

Both of those losses sucked. My reaction at the B1G blowout loss was more of "you gotta be kidding me" and I stopped watching it and joined my wife and friends for a Christmas party on our block that night. My reaction last year was "man, another crappy loss by this poorly coached team (and NU was very poorly coached last year) to a very average Wisconsin team". My feelings don't waver too much either way whether it's a blowout or a close loss. I just want to see wins.

I guess I have a different take. Sure, I hate to lose as much as anyone. (Well, not as much as you, I guess, for the close ones anyway.) But a blowout loss bums me out more than a close loss. When I go over a close loss afterwards I think of the things we need to change or improve on to win. By contrast it's hard to even think about a blowout loss. Just too many things to fix to be able to figure out how we could have possibly won.

Being humiliated 70-31 or allowing 405 yards from one back are an entirely different planet from losing. You can lose a game without being absolutely embarrassed.

I want to see Riley bring a team with a proper gameplan, and players who understand the gameplan and can execute it. I also want to see the proper adjustments being made. Under the previous regime, adjustments were not a strength; and tbh, Riley didn't make many successful in-game adjustments last year. We haven't really had to shake things up this year; so I am interested to see what the gameplan is, and how Riley will change things up for whatever situations arise.

I obviously want to see a win. But, if we lose, I want to see us competitive and have a chance to win it in the 4th. Also, if we lose, I want it to be because they make good plays instead of us doing something totally inept.

If we lose, I won't be happy. But, at least if I get my wish here, it will be respectable.

It doesn't even make any sense to me that a 70-31 loss is equal in people's minds than a 23-21 loss.

If we lose to them 23-21 in the fourth quarter, we were pretty equal in programs. We can look at probably a few plays here and there that could have gone our way to change the outcome. Hey...make some minor changes and go get them next time.

If we lose 70-31, we don't even belong on the same field.

HUGE difference.

Interesting way to look at it.

Yeah, and I agree. But somehow the polls did overlook FSU getting belly-whacked on TV against Louisville earlier this year. The Seminoles are 12th in the country with 2 losses.

Close loss = happy RiledUppers

Close win = mostly happy everyone

Blowout win = everyone happy
