Minnesota is about to have a better coach than us

Recommended Posts

Well, this thread is off to a promising start....

Whether you like Riley, or not, he's got us in the door with multiple top-end, national recruits. The kind of recruits that I'd be willing to bet Fleck will never get to look his way in Minnesota.

isn't his class at wmu ranked about as high as Nebraska s right now? #1 in the MAC?

247 Composite:

Nebraska - 30th - 15 commits

W. Mich. - 63rd - 26 commits

That's 33 spots lower with 11 more commitments...... Also, their highest rated recruit would be our 2nd lowest rated recruit (according to 247).

The U of M is a complete dumpster fire...the ENTIRE UNIVERSITY! The academia world does not seem to support the athletic world and the administration is in complete disarray! There are some serious trust issues...living here and having friends that were/are involved in the university it is interesting. I like Fleck, but I would not be shocked if he moves on within 3-5 years again to something much bigger and better is he finds success with the goofs.

Something Old Something New - seems like we got the Old and others are getting the New up and comers who will make a difference. I like MR but I sometime wonder about NU hiring a guy near the twilight of his career. Seems hard to build that way. :dunno

How sad it is that Minny is probably going to make a better hire than NU

We all know Nebraska hired Riley because he was the anti-Bo. The ego of the nebraska brand got in the way and figured we could make anyone a winner as long as they were a nice guy. Jury is still out on that, if and if Riley fails NU will bring in a new AD and get a proven winner.

If past performance is any indication whatsoever of future results, what makes you say the bolded? I will give you the bringing in a new AD, but I really question the proven winner. How many decades ago did we actually do that?

Does Devaney's 35-10-5 record at Wyoming qualify as a "proven winner"? If it doesn't, then we have to go back before WWII to find a time when we hired a "proven winner".

Wishful thinking mainly. It was also a slight at how Riley wasn't a proven winner.
