Fru
Gonna keep saying it. Undortunately saying it to all of you doesn't fix anything other than helping me vent... It's up to the GOP in Congress to defend the country from Trump. None of this matters if they're not willing to do that. At this point nothing it seems like nothing short of the unearthing of a sex tape with a *** **** to Trump's face from Putin is going to make them act. Very important post. Link to comment
Fru
By the way, I'm expecting the outraged "private email server" crowd will be in here any minute denouncing this since Sessions lied under oath. Eagerly awaiting... Still waiting 1 Link to comment
BigRedBuster
This is something the Democrats have to be very careful with and methodical. It's very easy to have something like this come out and absolutely blow your wad all over it. However, there is bigger issues at hand. Right now the Dems are so wound up that any little tid bit of news like this, their heads explode with excitement at the idea of catching one more Trump member at something. They need to allow investigations to go through while calmly keeping the heat on. This has the ability to be their version of Benghazi where there's just enough smoke to keep everyone all riled up but in the end, it really is a meaningless event. Let things play out and see where it leads. Link to comment
knapplc
I have 100% confidence that congressional Democrats will handle these situations with dignity, respect, and with a bipartisan zeal for truth & justice. (I almost typed that whole sentence with a straight face) 5 Link to comment

If it keeps smoking, they can't sweep it under the rug and block a full-blown independent investigation. 4 Link to comment
Danny Bateman
Well FINALLY he found his spine - let's see how strong it is: Chaffetz sure is going to awful lengths to keep those Soros-funded professional protestor fake constituents happy. 2 Link to comment

knapplc
https://twitter.com/clayton_sandell/status/837319767899979777 Is she saying she didn't meet with them at all, or just not as a member of the Armed Services Committee? Link to comment
RedDenver
https://twitter.com/clayton_sandell/status/837319767899979777 Is she saying she didn't meet with them at all, or just not as a member of the Armed Services Committee? She claims she was on the Armed Services Committee for the last ten years, and the twitter time tags say she met with the Russian ambassador in 2013. So looks like she's lying either way. knapplc
It's a tweet. She's limited to 140 characters and may not have fully expressed that thought. She also wasn't under oath. Even if she is lying... it's just a bad look. It's not perjury. Link to comment
zoogs
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/03/02/mccaskill-accused-lying-attack-sessions/98630572/ It sounds like she's saying both that these were not 1-on-1 meetings or related to the Armed Force Committee (not sure about the Iran deal one). The context is whether Sessions' individual contact with the Russian ambassador was unusual for members of that committee. So far, it still appears so. It could nevertheless be quite innocent for how awkward it is, and certainly they'll take this opportunity to destroy Sessions if they can. Nonetheless, there are good questions raised here, particularly if the report that they discussed Russian sanctions is true. Why was this not disclosed? Link to comment
StPaulHusker
I read it as she never met with the ambassador as part of the Armed Services Committee. But here is the rub. She says she NEVER met with him. Then when it's pointed out that she tweeted that she was about to specifically meet with him, she is trying to turn it into a big group meeting. If that's the case, why did she mention just the Russian ambassador in the tweet? Link to comment
knapplc
This is the funny thing about our elected officials, though. It's been more than a decade since The Daily Show, and others, have been lampooning them for these kinds of gaffes. Even applying the best possible explanation to McCaskill's quote, she still comes off like a buffoon. If it's so easy for us to pull a tweet, or a soundbite, or video, of these people doing exactly the opposite of what they say - and they know we're going to do this - why don't they self-censor and do it first? Fact-check, make sure your nose is clean, before you go off on someone? They all do this. It's like they think they live in a bubble, and anything they've done/said in the past ceases to exist.
