IMO Bannon leaving isn't going to change a damn thing with Trump. The Muslim ban, "both sides", and "mexican rapists" is who Trump is. He is not going to have a come to Jesus moment all of a sudden at 70 years old.

IF General Pershing had ordered such a massacre, it would be considered a War Crime and he would be subject to prosecution. Trump is proffering a myth that is potentially highly damaging to the legacy of one of America's greatest Generals, all because someone's grandma forwarded an email.

A lot of us also don't reside in the state. Myself, LL, NM, zoogs, and ED just to name a few.

I've wondered that myself. When we were debating the anthem protests, I think that was the first time I was involved in such a political debate on a sports forum. I think part of the reason is that this is a subset of a subset of Nebraska fans. Those that choose to post here are perhaps more literate and informed than the "average" fan. I think many of the more active posters in the political forum are a bit more academic, and tend to be liberal. I also think that many conservatives have become much more quiet and less raging with all the embarrassing incidents occurring on a daily basis that they cannot excuse with a clear conscience.

What's with the new format? The analytics reminding us if we "Won the Day!" by scoring Reputation Points — pitting poster against poster to see who's more popular. Does this open us up to posting clickbait? Are we now trolling for approval? If so, I just gotta say...you're looking good these days. Have you lost weight?

Yeah. I totally get that. But if you cruise the Internet, there are comments sections on every site, and even sites ostensibly dedicated to politics, news and liberal thought are powered by large and loud conservative factions. Debates deteriorate into name-calling from virtually the get-go. Huskerboard has always been far better than that. When the national anthem protest spilled into Husker football over on the side of the site, the range of opinion was incredibly thoughtful and varied. I was particularly impressed how many military veterans, police-sympathizers and conservative leaning posters had open-minded takes and refused to take the partisan bait. I'm trying to compliment you bastards. Can't you just accept it?

All of these firings - every single one - are merely ancillary. The problem is at the top, and it always has been.

Yeah, for some reason the upgrade broke every other star. The really odd thing is if I edit the post and just put one more space in front of the first broken star, they all resolve. Pretty odd. I've been trying to fix the ones I run across but have a long ways to go.

Not during fall camp two weeks out from the season opener. If anybody on this board has been a vocal critic of the offensive lines at Nebraska the last two decades, and Cav's lines in particular, it's been me. I think they've been entirely too average for entirely too long. However, I'm not going to get discombobulated this early. Riley and Co. have decided to give this unit another season, for better or worse. I'd rather reserve my worries/praise for the actual season.

I don't think it was all injuries. There's always going to be a learning curve when you're dealing with that much inexperience. Despite the inexperience, I thought the line actually did a very good job in pass protection. All things considered. Run blocking, on the other hand, left much to be desired. That being said, we're going in with experienced upperclassmen all across the line this year, so I don't know why some find the possibility of improvement to be so outlandish.

Trump's whittling down of his advisors based on who has vexed him the least reminds me of "The Apprentice" .... and also of King Lear. I'm sure he will end up with Goneril and Regan instead of Cordelia.....

Those who said Bannon was drawing heat away from Trump was right. You don't need to out the white nationalist from the White House when the President is another one. The fact that Bannon's "meltdown" happened in a deeply progressive outlet makes sense. And now the heat's off Trump for Charlottesville and all he said. All those things he owned and still does.

I prefer my defensive coordinators to be absolute lunatics.

Carter was probably our best combination of blocking and catching for many years. On top of that though, we have had QBs that weren't good at hitting them.

We've been missing a receiving TE for many years. Carter, Cotton, and Foster were all definitely blockers first.

I don't think that it is very surprising at all. Denouncing Nazis and the KKK is a pretty easy thing to do. (even if Trump has a hard time there) I'm not going to suddenly admire corporate CEO's or prominent Republicans just because they make a politically easy statement. The hard part is looking objectively at the labels we use, like "terrorist". It is a lot easier for Americans to use that term on muslims than on white American Christians that commit similar crimes. Defending white supremacist's right to exist and to peacefully protest is even harder. For the record, I don't consider Charlottesville to have been a peaceful protest. Many of the protesting group were using violence, and all of them were using intimidation and promoting hate. But, ... they do have a right to exist, to have those views and to express them. The more we try to actively marginalize them, the stronger they will become. Kind of like the spread of terror groups globally.

Wisconsin has been 95th and 85th in yards per play the last two seasons. 71st and 104th in ypc. Their OL hasn't been very good the past couple of years. They've been winning games on defense lately.

You're only getting a small snapshot. Poll the board at large and you may find something more in line with the 59% figure.

I just find it curious that nobody bothers to mention that a guy is over rated until he decommits. I bet that if bookie decommits people will be saying its no big deal because he's short and never got his 5th star

Almost forgot about this. Saw this an OWH article from Dirk's last year and thought it was pretty interesting. The game is to predict the 12 NFL Playoff teams. You will also weight your 12 picks - the team you think is most likely to make the playoffs gets marked with 12, second most is 11, etc. At the end of the season we'll add up who has the most Playoff Points. Deadline is Sunday Morning September 10th.

I just find it odd that his short comings aren't really mentioned until decommits. And if he's so bad why is a school like Louisville who has had about as much success as Nebraska willing to bribe him for his commit if he's not very good. Cant help but to think that this talk doesn't come up if he doesn't decommit.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised to find such solid political discourse and overwhelmingly anti-Trump sentiment on a site dedicated to Nebraska football. I'm heartened but confused. How did Trump get 59% of the state?

This isn't history and these are not artifacts. They're present day, wholly elective representations of our values as a society. A people choose their own symbols of reverence and remembrance. History stands regardless. Frankly, history is warped by the mythology we choose to indulge in to justify keeping these things around. We have to convince ourselves that they are something they are not. If history is the patron saint of this discussion, it should be an easy call.

I noticed that Michigan has Texas or Oklahoma scheduled for the 2024 through 2027 seasons. Maybe by then they will be conference games. :-)
