  1. Unless upsets occur we will need to sweep Michigan or possibly beat Penn St back-to-back if they can get to the 5th spot.

  2. Seriously? I'm talking about actually having the opportunity to prevent an incident like this one and you're asking what law we can use? Who cares.? Just get it done, get this guy handled before he hurts. Make an example out of him so it hopefully prevents not just what he wants to do, but what others may want to do. We can't just go around punishing those who haven't technically done anything wrong though, right? That's exactly the notion behind super strict gun laws. They would affect everyone, innocent or not. It's okay to talk about that but not okay to talk about taking care of a threat before that threat becomes an incident, then laws and rights come into play because it's a persons right to free speech to threaten violence. Kinda just like the right to bare arms, but that's okay because guns are scary. To me, people are scarier. We need stricter people laws to go with the stricter gun laws. Here's the thing. I'm sick of seeing the "guns don't kill people, peiple kill people" crap. I'm all for making it harder to obtain weapons. I even suggested that this Kleve should legally be able to have his guns taken away because of that video. These tragedies happen, these threads pop up and the main thing discusses is stricter gun control. Yet duriing this clowns discussion many suggested ignoring the problem. IGNORING IT! Ignoring it is EXACTLY how s#!t like this happens, from the sound of it the FBI dropped the ball on this incident. We actually have a chance to take care of the root if the problem at UNL instead of jumping to the gun problem after the fact, and nobody can find a way to handle it. Honestly, I don't follow these stories super close. One, because they are horrible and two because the more coverage they get the more they happen. That's the part people ignore. After Columbine became a news mecca, these things started being emulated and glorified. People messed up in the head saw it as an outlet and a way to go out in a blaze of glory. The press needs to leave this s#!t alone, report the news and drop it. Stop using it as a way to push an agenda because it's making things worse. Get stricter gun regulation in place. And finally, when given the opportunity to prevent an incident at the source, find a damn way to do it.

  3. How much did you confidence increase when UCF beat Auburn? I was against the game because I wanted Frost and his staff 100% dedicated to the Huskers. After UCF beat Aubrn, my confidence in Frost more than doubled. Frost was undefeated, but all he did was beat up on AAC opponents. Beating a top 10, P5 team in the bowl, a team that defeated both teams in the MNC game. proved to me that Frost and his staff are elite. Now I am happy Frost coached the bowl game. I will not get anxious if things do not go our way, because I have full confidence in this staff. Without the bowl victory, there was some doubt.

  5. Year after I graduated, was living in Lincoln, came back home for the weekend to party with my buddy. He had borrowed his brothers Dodge pickup so we started booze cruising at noon in style. By that evening we were sloshed and started inviting people out to my farm for a party. Classmate shows up with his Raptor in the back of his truck, the ones that would easily do 90mph and were top dog back in 2005. My buddy tells him leave it on the truck, he didn't. Bout midnight I jump on it and take off down the gravel road. I made it roughly 60 yards before apparantely seeing something shiny in the ditch and took a hard left. Next thing I knew I woke up for a second in a field. Blacked back out. Woke up as I was crawling towards ditch and tumbled through the barbed wire fence. Woke up yet again laying in ditch. Got up onto road holding my mouth. Missing teeth, some sideways. Jaw in incredible pain. Lip split into 4 lips. Buddy and some others come running up, he says to me "You okay?" I move my hand and respond "Do I @#$%&*## look okay?". Somehow I have the wherewithal to tell him to go tell my Mom what happened, tell another to get everyone out of there and the third....to get me to the hospital. He had a camaro, we made it in record time. I tried wandering in the ambulance dock, he had to help me find actual emergency entrance. My Mom shows up with my Uncle. Show them the damage after cursing the doctor poking my jaw, it's broken. My sympathetic Uncle offers me popcorn, I decline. Ambulance ride to Lincoln, already hooked up to good stuff so went from drunk to drugged. This whole thing is somewhat a blur. Go in for surgery quickly, I think? I remember jolting awake at one point and half freaking out, but quickly being put back under. Wake up again to a nurse telling me my blood pressure is too high, I either need to pee or get cathed. I opt for the bedpan....but can't seem to pee due to the audience and drugs and laying down etc. So the gentle woman RAMS this thing down my pee hole in hands down the most painful part of this entire incident. Family and friends come visit my dumbass as I'm morphined up something fierce but super glad they fixed my teeth and mouth. In the end I got my mouth cosmetically put back together, metal plates in my jaw, was missing two teeth and several scars from I'm guessing the barb wire fence I flew through after smashing my face on the handlebars. Dental work is expensive. I have only actually had a full mouth of teeth again for a little over a year.

  7. Maybe not the most serious mistake but the day I decided to bring home a wild stray border collie that had been hanging around a construction site. Pretty sure that dog had been on its own it’s entire life. Figured I was doing it a favor by trying to provide food, shelter, a home.... Oh so wrong. It could not and would not be tamed. I won’t even begin to recount all the things it destroyed. When I would pull into the driveway after work, it would literally jump on top of my car and came in through my open window once. Wild thing. The funny part is when I’d finally had enough and decided it was time to take it to the humane society, that damn dog was perfectly behaved, healed properly on the leash and sat perfectly as I was explaining to them it was a stray and not my dog. It had never prior showed one inkling of being capable of any acceptable behavior. Of course they looked at me like I was a terrible person abandoning my dog that way....

  9. What season did you watch? Mike Riley didn't get a free pass. He got a lot of hell for that 6-7 season. But since everyone knew he wouldn't get fired in year one, we perhaps looked for some positives going into season two. Super close losses. Played Wisconsin almost straight up. First win against a Top 10 team in ages. Decent enough bowl win. Something to build on. Is that what you're talking about? In Season Two, Mike Riley essentially delivered a Bo Pelini performance with the same Tommy Armstrong at the helm -- and to be honest a ton of injuries. In Season Three, with a hand-picked quarterback for his system, Mike Riley's team generally s#!t the bed and he was fired four seasons earlier than Bo Pelini. No free passes for anybody.

  10. I was extremely confident in Frost before the game. I really thought Auburn would probably win by 2 scores, just because I figured they had the better overall players. The fact that UCF not only beat Auburn but manhandled them, just gave me greater confidence that this is going to turn out to be a GRAND SLAM hire.

  11. I HATE airlines, all of them. I got screwed out of about $5,000 in August of 2017 because of United Airlines our our trip to Europe. (LONG story that I'm not typing now, or probably ever again). Now, another unnamed carrier is going to screw us again. We have purchased tickets to fly from Omaha to Phoenix for the end of February. Now our plans have changed, and we'd like to change the dates we fly to March. We were told that will be $300 per ticket. The original FREAKING tickets didn't cost that much!! WTF??? How do you justify a couple of freaking keystrokes to change the date we fly, and charging me $600?

  34. I believe this would apply to a spring "game," so it would definitely have to be just a practice. With the wording it's clear the NCAA distinguishes between practices and the spring game. More stuff: So teams are allowed only 3 scrimmages (taking up > 50% of practice), and the spring game counts as 1 of them.

  36. I know Landlord already answered this in depth, but it is worth reminding that guns are specifically designed to kill, and assault rifles with large magazines are specifically designed to slaughter as many humans as quickly and efficiently as possible. Cars, knives, and ski resorts all serve useful, non-slaughtering purposes. You could make a slightly better case for high-fructose corn syrup, but the victims have more of a choice there. You can also make a good case for a 12 gauge shotgun during hunting season. But there is not a single good scenario* for an assault rifle, much less a stockpile. I think people also blame guns in the thousands of cases where a child, a manic depressive, a jealous lover, or the home invader uses an easily accessed handgun against the wishes of the owner. Or when that easily accessed gun lets the owner make a rash decision they can't take back. I believer there are around 250 justifiable homicides a year, in which someone defends themselves or their property with a gun. There are literally 100x more people who use a gun to intentionally kill someone else, accidentally kill someone else, or kill themselves. We are bombarded with images of cool badasses wielding guns, but the vast majority are sad f#*k-ups. We're not going to take away everyone's guns, but maybe we could successfully mock this ridiculous fetish. * I think it would be a total rush to fire one in the safety of a shooting range, but I'd be cool if the shooting range owned and kept the assault rifles there.

  39. I grew up with guns around the house, although my folks were generally pacifists. Guns were just tools that we rarely used. I have kids of my own now, and don't have a single gun in the house. I'm not making a statement. I just can't think of a scenario where I will really need that tool, and I can think of lots of scenarios where that tool will have a tragic impact on my family.

  40. I am not a gun person. I have never shot anything but a b-b gun, and it's just not what I am interested in. I get that the vast majority of gun owners are responsible, law-abiding citizens. However, I don't get why they fall back on their "right to bear arms" and cite their 2nd Amendment rights when the current country and gun technology bears no resemblance to what the United States was like when the Bill of Rights was written nearly 250 years ago.

  41. Sandy Hook happened five years ago. Since then there have been more than 1,600 mass shootings (as of 10/2016). Here they are on a map. Mass shootings are not tragic, they are not regrettable, they are not shocking. They are the inevitable result of a nation who refuses to put reasonable curbs on the accessibility of guns to the public. No amount of expressed grief, no amount of crocodile tears, will change that.
