  7. "Let me tell you what, my man Gary, there's something going on with someone in some part of the athletic department, and it's somehow going to affect how some portion of one of the teams that plays, but I'm not at liberty to completely say what that something might be, or the person who might be the one who said it to me". - a thesis, by Damon Benning.

  8. This is going to sound incredibly heartless and I give this as a spontaneous opinion not knowing anything more than any of you. But of course she now says it wasn't consensual. We live in a society now that encourages the notion that if you do something and later on regret it, you can cry rape and get revenge. Honestly I hope she is lying because even if you take Washington out of the picture, this is about to ruin a few kids lives if she is lying. And I say I hope she is lying because I would rather the sex on film be consensual and regret driven than it actually being a rape video. Neither are good by any means.

  11. GUYS... I'm surprising my wife and taking her to dinner at this little restaurant tonight near where we are building our house (I usually boycott Valentine's Day). Can you please behave while mom and dad are gone? Thanks.

  12. That's a really strange way of looking at trying to gain facts in what happened before you pass final judgement. I guess it's best to jump to conclusions before you have facts.

  13. I think if you are getting expelled from school and humiliated due to video floating around, the time to say it was actually an assault would have been then, not???

  14. It's a normal reaction for people to think this way. And I have no opinion one way or the other in this specific incident if she is truthful or not. But we should always be reminded of the difficulty of coming forward for women in situations like this. Look at how long Larry Nassar was allowed to prey on women before they began to speak up.

  15. Did i miss where she said it wasnt? I dont remember her saying that. And to be truthful, whats not to say her mom saw video, asked her what the hell, girl tells mom they forced her to make it look better. Theres so many possibilities with how this went down and it being years ago. I dont believe for a second the girl and kids around the school didnt know this video was out there. Stuff like that gets shared and talked about because humans as teens are especially idiotic.

  17. Well put. Personally, I don't have any issue with the media digging into any of this. That's their job and, now that they've sniffed out some irregularities, they're not going to stop any time soon. That said, I still don't see enough smoke here to signal a significant fire, or at least not enough to start predicting things like someone is going to lose their job (which is what was claimed on S&B this morning). This sort of feels like someone who left the coffee pot plugged in before leaving for work. Could it be something more? Ehhh... I guess? Some of the reaction to all of this is little more than peak off-season behavior. I feel it's wiser to let everything play out. Oh, and I think it's equally wise for a handful of you to probably not question any more what is or isn't sexual assault. According to the state of California, a person under 18 can't legally consent to sex, which inherently makes it a 'sexual assault.' We can go back and forth about nuance all we want but it is what it is.

  20. The whole reason it's so hard for victims of sexual assault to come forward is victim-blaming happens all the time. That she was expelled is not indicative of anything in this situation.

  21. It's another interesting question. I quoted that exchange a few pages ago. If she's offended by the video, why ask him to send it again? Was she doing it because she was taunting him back (because he seemed to be taunting her), was she trying to get evidence, was that not even her and it was the police using her phone? Hard to say.

  22. Well that was fun. Let's not do it again.

  24. Why does the assualt thing even matter? Was Washington aware she claims it was nonconsensual? If she was assualted then she was assualted and the perpertrators should be held accountable but I fail to see what that has to do with Washington. From my understanding the video was widespread and appears consensual. That in no way means it was consensual, but it also means there is no reason for the viewer to believe it was assualt unless told so.

  25. There's a point to be made there, though. The conversation seems to be focused on the girl being a victim. That would need to be proven in a court of law, otherwise, she's as guilty as the boys. The girl in the video is a minor, and thus the boys could be charged with unlawful sex (or sexual assault, whichever term a prosecutor wants to use). But, the girl in the video could also be charged with having unlawful sex with the boy, who was also a minor. I wonder if that's why she hasn't pressed charges. The burden of proof would, at least partially, be on her to show that it was non-consensual. Lots of muddy waters here.

  26. I think the fact that the president, who is an elected official, can make these types of decisions is something that should be looked at with regards to reform.

  27. Which is mind boggling, because I'm pretty sure that makes like half the state a bunch of rapists. Then again, the state of California also thinks that plastic gives you cancer and makes you put a warning label on an packages going to the state, so.....

  29. This thing is wild. Between the media's rush to report first, and Bruning not making things exactly clear, it's a clownshow. Oh, and I have zero problems with them not talking to the police until it's required. Even cops will tell you "don't talk to cops."

  30. You have to be f***ing kidding me with this s#!t. You seem to be under the impression that all sexual assaults involve using physical force. That's wrong. It doesn't have to be obvious to the viewer that it was sexual assault for it to be sexual assault.

  36. I've been kind of wondering something. One source that showed the full conversation showed her requesting him to send the video again. Is that not a request for a video of CP? If it was the girl not really an issue but if that was actually the mom who has access to her texts and she was trying to get proof can she not be legally help responsible for that?

  38. The case is making headlines today because Washington chose to not delete the video and then used it to harm the girl.

  39. I don't even understand why we are discussing the contents of the video and if they were or were not consensual. Truthful or lying that is an entirely different case and has little bearing on what Washington has done.

  40. I feel like both parties should be treated equally. The alleged victim could be right or making false accusations. The alleged victim deserves no special privileges, but does deserve a safe space to make their accusation. In the same way, the alleged perpetrator deserves a safe space before all the facts are in. Personally, I don't think the accused should be named in rape cases until they go to trial.

  45. Ya, that annoys me every time I see it too. Or they'll put the alleged way out front which is misleading. E.g. - Washington is alleged to have sent his ex girlfriend a video of her being sexually assaulted. You probably don't wanna go there.
