  1. Positions rumored to be filled so far: OL coach, DC, LB coach, and Special Teams coach. So that leaves DB, OC, DL, RB, and WR. So question: If Riley were to retain Warren, Kaz, Brown, and Fisher and get a new OC, are you happy? yes or no?

I'm ok with keeping any of those 4, provided Riley is able to get the "us versus them" mentality out the THEIR systems too.

    3. swmohusker

      swmohusker

I would be okay with that. Those are the 4 coaches that I would like to retain. Solid recruiters and have done a solid job of developing players.

    4. Touchdown Tommie

      Touchdown Tommie

Of the coaches from the previous staff, I don't think they would fit in the category of the us vs them comment.

  2. Wow, thanks Landlord for the Iowa game highlights, great job! But after watching that, all my thoughts from the season are coming back to me, and here's my take on our situation: We've got some talented players on this team with a lot of heart. An attacking scheme on defense and a competent offensive gameplan with QB development may be just what the doctor ordered. I anticipate that the kool-aid will be awfully sweet by September.

  3. Just watched 2008 Oregon St highlights when they upset #1 USC. Defense was attacking, OL plowed through USC's front 4, and Rodgers brothers were obviously highlighted in the offensive plan. I'm optimistic about the look of our offense going forward. Time will tell.

Patterson had strung together some great seasons prior to join the Big 12. 13-0 in '10; 12-1 in '09; 11-2 in '08; '06 and '03; 11-1 in '05; and 10-2 in '02. Definitely not comparable.

I've watched TCUs Boykin go from a FR gunslinger thrown into action his 1st yr, to part time RB/QB/WR his 2nd, to a great QB his 3rd. Talented yes, but big diff with new OCs.

  17. The question becomes "Will we have to wait till after the bowl game or after signing day to get a new OC?"

  18. Defense is doing all they can. Let's hope we can find a new OC during halftime. If the offense keeps leaving the defense on the field all game, by the end we will be getting gashed. Gotta score points.

  21. WTF... Defense looked like crap, but the offense can't score 3 points in the 2nd half and expect to win. Bring in an OC who isn't a complete f*cktard and we're a significantly better team.

    1. RedRedJarvisRedwine

      RedRedJarvisRedwine

DPE cost us enough points to swing this game in our favor. Tough game for the kid. I expect him to have a monster year next year. Don't hang your head too low man.

  22. I've always wondered, why don't we ever try going with all-red jerseys (other than the alternates)? Would that be too much or what?...

  23. I can't believe Gameday is actually ragging on the SEC for their crap non-conference opponents today. #mindblown

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

They're only upset because the majority of sec teams aren't playing each other. In their words "we have no good games to talk about today". Hmmm, the B1G is solidly in conference play...haha.

      JJ Husker

No, they aren't wrong. It was fun listening to their faux outrage.

  24. I finally watched the game last night, and here's my take: All the criticisms about the defensive scheme are warranted, and that one is easy to nitpick. But what's more troubling to me is the lack of anything productive from our offense. There are so many moving parts with this offense, and that's where there is a lot of inconsistency. Simpler is better. After this season, Beck can take a hike because he's proved that he has no clue and no ability to develop our QBs. Tommy is...

I'll put my thoughts on the OL like this: Every season prior to this, I assumed our OL play was good because our overall offense was (generally) pretty good. Now that I've actually critically watch the OL play and broke down some film... it ain't pretty. At all.

    3. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

This is why I don't fault the defense--after a while, even the best NFL defense will get soft after being punched over and over again. That's why the '09 defense was such an aberration.

We fix the offense, we fix the team. Special teams and Defense were fine up until the Purdue game.

    4. TheSker

      TheSker

I agree. One of my observations, and a few others have mentioned it also, is the defense might have quit on the offense.

  25. Gosh dang it, I haven't watched the game yet, and I love Bo Pelini as a person, but I'm tired of flirting with success just to watch the team fold when it matters. It would be awfully tough to fire a coach who wins 9 or 10 games in a regular season, but it's probably time to move on... If the team is able to win the next 2 games, I want Bo to stay with the contingency that he does a major overhaul on his coaching staff.

    1. Junior

      Junior

I don't get why anyone would trust him to hire new coaches at this point. He's failed so far.

    2. presidentjlh

That's the crappy thing about all this is that I was really hoping Bo would be the guy. I like Bo. Just can't accept this anymore.

    3. EbylHusker

      EbylHusker

If he was forced to hire outside coordinators, it wouldn't be all his choice. That'd be the difference and it's why you don't understand.
