  1. Anyone doing the Amazon deal day thing today?  I don’t really understand how it works. I just keep checking for deals on an hourly basis or what? I am a prime member

No deals for me, in fact, just canceled membership yesterday altogether.   We are trying to slim down both in material things, and financially (as we want to move out of state sometime this year)

I wish I had the guts to cut it off. Didn’t buy anything

I didn't buy anything this year, either. Like 95% is basically just AliExpress with faster shipping.

  2. When’s the best time to purchase tickets for you the Akron game on either stub hub or tickethippo? I want to purchase 2 for a birthday gift and want them to be nice seats. Prices seem kind of jacked right now

Daughter’s a nurse with a rotating schedule and the only game that works is Akron.  Throw in trying to arrange babysitting for two under three years and this gift is getting to be more work than buying a gift card. Kind of wish stub hub sold gift cards

Wait wait wait...trust me this is how it goes all the time.  There will be a lot of people selling.  s#!t happens, people have to go out of town, or a wedding or a family thing comes up.  You will get tickets, that won't be a problem.

I have NEVER underpaid for tickets.  That's going on my tomb

  3. Happy triple crown day. Can’t believe I was the first to mention. There will be another soon as they come in groups of three

Actually never been so I should reserve judgement. Noticeable cheaper then our usual

so I’m assuming it’s not as nice. I just can’t believe that I’ve come to place in my life where I make plans for March the May before. Adulting is sad

Where is your usual?  And where are you staying at Steamboat?  Steamboat is expensive from my experiences.  Not Vail expensive but it's not like you're going to Loveland or Granby or something.

      krc1995

Lol. We usually go to Vail/Beaver Creek-for the last six years skipped 2 in there. Can’t remember the name of the place we’re staying at, but it has West in it.

  6. The weather that you northerners are passing on to the south is very inconvenient for our travel ball team. We had to sit through 40-50 degree weather, in April, the last two weekends and we’re in south Louisiana. We should be getting a tan not putting on ski gear. Please stop it.

I’m just kidding (a little) and rubbing it in to the northern folk about how bad we have it, but it is mid April. It must be pretty dreary if you’re north of the mason Dixon

    3. Red Five

      Red Five

Our average high right now is 57.  Obviously we have been no where close to that.  I believe last year we set some record highs in April, including multiple days in the 80s.  This April we have been lucky to hit 50.

It was beautiful here today. Low 70's and sunny. Aereated, mowed, fired up the sprinklers....wearing shorts. Supposed to be 76 tomorrow. :P

But another round of crap coming starting on Friday. We got lucky this last time. The bad stuff started just east of us and then moved across Nebraska/Kansas. Prob won't luck out two times in a row.

Sometimes Too much info. Trying to figure the best metrics to compare pitching. So, so much analytics. I think I need to identity my top 3 pitching metrics. K’s obviously, maybe innings pitched? Velocity stability? Ground ball/fly out ratio?

      I prefer ERA vs. FIP/xFIP/SIERA, SwStr%, K% - BB%.

You can find all of those over on Fangraphs if you familiarize yourself with how to make a custom Leaders graph. They should have norms for how to interpret each of those stats on Fangraphs if you search for them. Obviously FIP/xFIP/SIERA are interpreted on the same scale as ERA.

Do you have a printed spreadsheet prepared for the draft?  If so, do you do it by position or do you just rank players in total?

    4. HS_Coach_C

      HS_Coach_C

It's possible that he hasn't qualified for either school, but ULL has an open scholarship right now and took a chance on him.

Nebraska didn't want to risk wasting a scholarship if he fails to qualify, as they would have had to tell one of the recent recruits that they didn't have room for them in order to take his LOI.

  10. Daydreaming about making the football playoffs and then having the rules change to home field advantage rather than a neutral site. Wouldn’t a late December game with LSU in Lincoln be wild.

No Sex in the Champagne Room is still one of the greatest comedic tracks ever. “If someone steps on your sneakers - let it slide, it’s not worth going to jail over someone smudging your puma.” Reminds me of riding the jam packed subway to the Bronx for a Yankees game and this young punk started tripping after a dude stepped on his kicks.

I don't watch too much of any of these guys but while we're mentioning Chappelle, Black Bush always gets me. Hilarious, but also cutting and profound.

No, I'm talking about the instances of people tearing his head off specifically because of the flag.  Nothing to do with the conduct allegations.  There were many, many people that did so.  It was ridiculous.  So many idiots on Facebook.  But yeah, there were a lot of people going after him about the conduct thing too.

    4. zoogs

      zoogs

The flag thing sounds kind of dumb. I haven't followed the response but it seems like a microcosm of our poorly ordered priorities that a flag mishap fans attention and this dark splotch on his past is so freely brushed aside -- or worse, framed as an incident of bad press which he suffered and which now, as a triumphant Olympic athlete, he is overcoming.

I don't miss it at all.  I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime year round, and Vue during football season.  I usually run my Vue subscription for about five months then cancel as soon as football season is over. The five month Vue subscription is probably close to one month of a cable subscription.

    3. CheeseHusker

      CheeseHusker

I have no regrets. The one thing is I've gone back and forth between DirectTV Now and PS Vue a couple of times; DTV has the better channel package but the service is much worse (buffering).

I have three Rokus and I run PS Vue, Netflix and Hulu on all of them. I have the middle package with PS Vue and I'm getting BTN, a few ESPNS, the Golf Channel and three of four networks (no FOX atm due to a dispute).

I was very apprehensive about doing it because of the sports angle, but it has turned out to be better than I ever thought it would be.

Not being locked into a contract and being able to switch on / switch off is a godsend.

If you're married have your wife wash your hair over the kitchen sink. You could also take a cab or have a friend drive you to a hair salon. You might want to cut your hair shorter until you get to the point where you can shower again.

Also, invest in a roll of press 'n seal wrap to cover your bandages so they don't get wet.

I was also going to tell you to make sure you stay in the sling during your waking hours. I slept with it on the first week just so I wouldn't accidentally hurt myself.  Mine had a little loop on it for my thumb so I wouldn't accidentally reach forward.

Dilly Dilly-Tell me about it!  :(

Oh Ewwww!  I can't stand Colin Cowherd.  You're being nice calling him by his proper name!  I have another name in mind but will not voice it.  I remember he ripped Nebraska on air for being an 'option' football team.  He said it had no place in college football anymore and that the NFL certainly didn't use it.   I haven't listened to him since.

    3. Xmas32

      Xmas32

Ok, after listening to it I think the topic is pretty interesting so I don't agree with the caller that it's much ado about nothing especially given that Nebraska isn't going to a bowl game so you need some topics to fill the airwaves.  Now, I do think Bahe seemed to get defensive really quickly and came across really thin skinned.  Bahe seemed to take personal offense that the caller disagreed with his take which is really stupid for a sports talk radio to do.  The caller didn't personally attack Bahe or anything but it just reaffirms my opinion of Bahe's show which is there are better ways to spend my day than listening to his show.

    4. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

Xmas32-I agree with your perspective 100%.  Good grief!  Bahe is supposed to be a professional!  You get all kinds when you open your program up to the general public to comment.  We've all talked about whether Scott should coach the Peach Bowl or not but no one got nasty about it!  Thanks for your perspective!
