They let up almost 100% of the possible yards Bama could have got!  94%!

So some dude did the stats.  From where Bama started with the ball on each drive they could have ended up getting something like 795 total yards...They ended up with like 740 total yards of offense.

  2. Desmond Howard starts talking about how he goes out...quickly stops himself and says he doesn't go out at all because of quarantine.  Nice try Dez!

Probably in 61' when he won the Cy Young and was named WS MVP. Man we would just stare at that radio all night...

      Mavric

I was pretty sure they are not allowing any tailgating.

But I guess there was something earlier this week about some exception for bars are restaurants being able to expand into sidewalks/streets to try to accommodate crowds with more room for social distancing.  So perhaps this is part of that thinking.

  5. The Walking Dead?  More like the Watching Dead...right?

I loved the show after the season 2 slow down/budget constraints got fixed. My coworkers and I hate watched it because we didn't want to be the one to ruin the watercooler talk on Monday. The end of season 6 was a last straw, just tell a compelling story and stop drawing out stuff for no reason. Haven't watch it since. Sucks because I remember being captivated by season 1.

@Toe T. Boones Farms Pickens' money is helping keep Okie Lite in the conversation. But they're due to stumble once or twice before the year is out, so hopefully we don't have to deal with their craptacular program becoming 'nationally relevant' for too much longer.

Gotta love any burger they sell by the bag full.  WC’s are the perfect drunk food. I’ve only had them from an actual restaurant twice. Once in KC when a bunch of HS buddies went down for a weekend and Royals game. The other time was with my brother as we were driving from Chicago to South Bend for the Nebraska-Notre Dame game. I pick up the frozen ones probably more often than is healthy. Love those little greasy things.

I used to get them a lot, growing up in Chicago. My Dad looked into franchising one but they don't franchise.

      JJ Husker

TBH the landline was handy while the kids were still in school. Wouldn’t have all those long a$$ school messages cluttering up our cell phone voicemail. But it’s just a complete waste of money since the kids are out of HS. I literally haven’t touched the home phone in over two years. Sometimes it will ring and the wife will ask me who it is and I’ll just say I don’t care, nobody for me. It’s been that way for so long it doesn’t even bother me anymore. She’s getting close to dropping it....

@teachercd50 is about right currently as I do work for a telecom that still has people using them as well as calling cards and fax services.  You don't even want to know what an analog fax line costs anymore and they still sell them all the time while they also sell Fax to email services(1/4 of the price) but old school people simply don't trust the digital stuff.

A grand jury was planning to release their findings in the James Scurlock case today but there has been some speculation that it may not actually happen today. There isn't a lot of confidence that Jake Gardner is going to be charged with murder but he'll most likely just face misdemeanor charges related to his gun and the expired permit.

We literally made Pledge Paddles in my house. One of the first things we had to do.

They were never used, of course, but that they existed points to that tradition from back in the day.

@Danny Bateman @teachercd  I totally agree about the covid fatigue. I hate to admit it, but sheesh, I'm starting to feel it too.

How long has Nebraska had a mask mandate?  Since like June?  My state put the mandate on in May.  But I started wearing one since April 1st or end of March.  I forget.  Sooo, Soo long ago.  Wherever you go, including work all day (which is 2 jobs for people like me).  The covid-fatigue is setting in.  The 104-106 degree days don't help much either. But I'm not gonna go rogue.  I'll keep washing hands and wearing mask. It's all I can do (and vent a little here and there) :)

We had two places in the same strip mall/gas station: Merry Cheers (sp?) and G&G's.  The pizza at Merry Cheers was awesome, at least to the 10 year old me, but the video game (NES) selection at G&G's was best in town  (They had like 10 games)

Knee football in the snow with my cousins.  I assume we made it up so I'll explain.  Just what it sounds like, you play on your knees instead of your feet.  We played indoors a lot too but snow is the best surface.

@The Dude My son and his hockey buddies (and even me once in awhile) used to play knee hockey all the time. We had really small goals and they'd use special small sticks and a foam ball or foam hockey puck. Played it strictly indoors. I can't tell you how many hotels his youth inline and ice hockey teams almost got kicked out of for playing in the hallways

Pro tip: those 15/20/30% off coupon mailings you get? The codes aren't tied to your account or anything, just go on Slickdeals or something and look up what the current 30% off coupon is. Also, there's a good chance that there's other coupons running for whatever it is that you're buying. Prolly the only reason to buy something in-store there is if it's on the clearance rack, otherwise you can probably get it cheaper on their website.

  25. Me:  Stops at the store and grabs a nice hunk of meat to smoke so that I can make Chicago italian beef sandwiches.

also me:  Doesn't realize my thermometer is set on Celsius and instead of pulling off the smoker at 125...It gets to 155.

Update...so this I sliced it as thin as I could (I need a deli slicer) and then I put it in the au jus that I made from the seasonings and drippings the day before.

I let that sit in the fridge for about 5-6 hours and then took the beef out and tossed the jus in the crockpot to warm it up.

Tossed the beef in, got some really good rolls and hot peppers, tossed on some pepper jack cheese, dipped it all in the jus, roll included and they turned out to be really good.

Next time I just need to get it off once it hits 125 and get a deli slicer.
