Holy mother of conspiracy theories!

I've often wondered how people could have been so completely duped by authoritarians in the past. Watching it play out in the US it makes so much more sense - they simply stopped thinking critically and only accepted stories that matched their biases and beliefs.

I just hope we can stop it before it’s too late but I have serious doubts. My eyes have been opened to the possiblities.

On the surface you’d think access to information, like we have with the internet, would be a good thing. But it turns out people are as selfish and evil as they ever were and some of them spread misinformation, and other people are as stupid as they ever were and many are incapable of discerning truth from fiction.

Don't worry, everything is going to be fine.  I "liked" a picture of Jesus on Facebook today.....

I do feel sorry for the left.  They have been completely conditioned and tooled to believe just about anything their chosen masters say!  I'm not fearful now, only when a leftist socialist is selling our country down the river!

You're the one saying the only person biased on Fox is the only one who says something that isn't a conservative opinion.

Honest question, do you think conservatives are right about literally everything? Because people on the left don't think that about the left. Neither do people in the middle. But everything you post treats hyper right positions as a purely true gospel of fact and knowledge.

Your indoctrination is insane and horrifying.

You say that. But I never hear the liberals departing from their media allies. You have to dig to find where any Democrat name took on CNN in the way Trump sometimes blasts Fox.

trump bashes the fox news anchors...not the propaganda machine that comes on at night nor fox and friends in the morning.   ironically....obama clashed with the propaganda portion of fox news and didn't call the actual newscasters anywhere the enemy of the people.

First of all you're conflating famous/powerful politicians criticizing or disagreeing with news services when I'm talking about private citizens being critical.

If we're talking about private citizens, that might be because you don't know very many liberals, or because you don't pay attention to what they have to say. I don't really know what to tell you if you never hear/see it; that's on you. You can find all kinds of stories of people protesting CNN (Bernie supporters physically protesting during the 2016 election) specifically, liberals on social media criticizing what you would think is liberal media (a lot of people were very critical of coverage of the Covington Catholic drama), and so on and so forth. I can tell you I see people of varying progressive perspectives on this board be critical of CNN and other non-conservative (y'all conservatives seem to think everything that isn't convervative is automatically super liberal somehow?) sources when appropriate.

When you're talking about people in culture, if anything the left is TOO self critical and is eating its own.

Even given all that, there's no equating Fox News and CNN. I'm not saying CNN is bias free, but bias or not it still engages in actual responsible journalism with things like retractions, sources, fact checking and consequences for mistakes/lying.

Yep. I don't watch CNN and only visit it when I've met my NYT/Washington Post limits, but CNN doesn't even approach Fox News when it comes to lying and bias.

I only ever pay any attention to CNN for election coverage. They have great election coverage with no opinion elements, just straight coverage of possibilities and results.

When left wingers go after CNN et al it is usually because they are angry that the coverage wasn't liberal enough, not a failure to attempt balance.  CNN is simply a louder version of a Pravda for progressivism.  Some of their 'facts' are right and some wrong, but that is minor detail in that all facts are marshalled toward the desired narrative.  I see CNN on many public tvs and they are always "reporting" on someone's opinion.

This morning on CNN: Interview with Democratic Presidential Candidate, Trump purges his cabinet, why are there so many empty seats in the Trump administration, when will we see Mueller report, Netanyahu faces huge challenges, American servicemen killed in Afghanistan, woman arrested at Mar-a-lago had spy cams.

This morning on Fox and Friends: American servicemen killed in Afghan bombing, some guy had dirt on AOC but didn't use it, Woman arrested at Mar-a-lago had spy cams, cop saves choking baby, cereal with water OMG! Talk to ladies from Alabama and then weather, Dems want to raise minimum wage and it's going to cause teenagers to engage in more crime :ahhhhhhhh

One of this things is not like the other...

Meanwhile, Conservatives complain that CNN isn't conservative enough so they go running to Fox, Breitbart, Rush, The Last Refuge that are the propaganda mouth pieces of their party.

So, if both sides complain that CNN isn't XYZ enough, wouldn't that mean their fairly close to the middle?

Are you kidding me?  They hate progressives.  They may be a left leaning news organization, but they are for the establishment, which includes the republican party.  They smear Bernie Sanders, Warren, etc. at every opportunity they get.  So don't tell me about "pravada for progressivism".
