Danny Bateman
What a bunch of clowns. Quote President Trump will not voluntary answer questions about obstruction of justice, gambling that Robert Mueller won’t have the stomach for a court fight. A source close to Trump’s legal team tauntingly tells us it’s “Mueller’s moment of truth.” If Trump agrees to an interview with the special counsel, questions about obstruction of justice are a "no-go," Rudy Giuliani tells AP's Jonathan Lemire. Wait! Bob Woodward's book (which won't even be in stores for four more days) ... the anonymous Times op-ed ... the confirmation hearing for a change-the-balance Supreme Court justice ... have been momentarily eclipsed? That's right. In a high-stakes move designed to force Robert Mueller's hand, Giuliani said Trump won't answer the feds' questions — in writing or in person — about whether he tried to block the probe into Russian election interference. Giuliani later seemed to backtrack, telling NBC News that those questions are "not ruled in or out." But his message had been delivered, and the sides are clearly hardening their stances. Jonathan Swan reads between the lines: Giuliani is daring Mueller to issue a subpoena. The president's team is itching for the fight. Trump's lawyers are betting that Mueller won’t have the heart for the multi-month court fight that would result from trying to compel the president to be interviewed. The White House bet: Mueller will blink and ultimately issue an incomplete report, avoiding the stakes of a court battle. The source close to the president's team explained: "Mueller backed off from a demand for a face-to-face, to get to a compromise of written Q-and-A on Russia. And Rudy still says no. What is Mueller to do now?" A source with direct knowledge of the Trump’s legal team machinations said "there is no strategy" beyond the PR tactic of threatening Mueller, and attempting to bruise him as much as possible. Meanwhile, Mueller stays quiet. And gets ready. 4 Link to comment
Moiraine
It’s also possible they know Mueller will be gone before the subpoena fight goes to court. Link to comment

Ric Flair
So how’s the nothing burger of an investigation going? Has Mueller turned up some parking tickets some mid-level staffer forgot to pay? Link to comment

Why won't Trump answer written interview questions when he said he had no problem sitting down and talking to Mueller? Link to comment

I'm not sure the day after we find out the president is too much of a coward or a moron to sit down and answer questions is the best time to strut your stuff ITT. But yeah, since you asked, an adviser got a couple weeks in the clink, a $9500 fine, supervised release and a ton of community service today. With cooperation. So it's plugging along nicely. 1 Link to comment

So Mueller has spent millions to secure a $9500 fine for a minor campaign advisor wo was confused? Seems like a solid investment. Link to comment

Seems like a solid investment. Our government has also spent millions to secure a bogey on a Par 5 at Mar a Lago. Is that a solid investment? Security and law enforcement cost money. I understand, and can appreciate why both are necessary. But if I had the choice to cut one, it wouldn't be an investigation into the possible foreign involvement in our democracy. Even if it does turn up nothing to implicate Trump. If there is any chance something untoward has happened, we need to know. 1 Link to comment

The guy’s a mid-level staffer who Mueller went after for....no one really knows....and all he could nail him with was mildly inconsistent statements because the guy got confused. That seems like an AWESOME use of taxpayer dollars and law enforcement resources. Interesting that many of the same people who want to catch and release illegals so they can go forth and commit more crimes also want Papadopoulos persecuted simply for being connected with Trump.
