Moiraine
Not trying to derail a thread but I wonder why a Christian coach would want to coach at Liberty when they have so many more heathens at other schools that they could reach. 2 Quote Link to comment

Would be interesting to see if Liberty goes after Ron Brown. Hugh Freeze wouldn't stun me either. Depends how quickly he wants to get a head coaching job again I suppose. I somehow don't think that one of the most conservative Christian colleges in the nation is going to go after a guy who got fired for hiring strippers and prostitutes for recruits, but I would laugh my a$$ off if they did. EDIT: I see this has been covered. I submit my apology, and offering to the gods: 2 Quote Link to comment
krc1995
I forgot this was Jerry Falwell’s university. I vaguely remember homophobic comments around 2012 ish, but don’t really remember the actual circumstance. Actually, I’m not sure if it was Liberty or Ron Brown that made those comments. My memory’s convoluted Bill Macartney, come on down. Quote Link to comment

And the school he retired form might steal ron brown form us 1 Quote Link to comment
Hedley Lamarr
Ron Brown would rather be in his current role than any actual coaching role FWIW Quote Link to comment

KCBuc
Enjoy the retirement! Miss that old offense and power game. Still ticks me off that Fryar dropped the pass in the OB. I swear he dropped it on purpose. Great call by TO. Quote Link to comment

Not sure when the first amendment became the right to say whatever one wants at their job, but I’m fairly certain that’s not the intent. If anyone thinks this doesn’t happen at every single newspaper then they’re sadly mistaken. Any organization has an agenda that needs to align with a customer, sponsor, government, donor or share holder. I happen to believe the Dean, who is quoted throughout, does a good job of explaining how the world works. Replace “newspaper” with widget company and Liberty with Fortune 500 company. The article author, much like yourself, attempts to turn this into something it isn’t. The use of the term corruption is flat out lazy in this editorial. Welcome to the real world where your boss/company has rules/agenda. Quote Link to comment

Welcome to the real world where your boss/company has rules/agenda. Except Liberty enjoys tax exempt status, so they can't be replaced with any widget company. The religious tax exemption is to offset all the supposed charity that religious institutions are supposedly doing. Providing a forum for Republican candidates and pushing a political agenda should not be considered charity, therefore I think they should be taxed accordingly or adhere to the intent of tax exemption status. Edit: They also need to realize that they, in NO WAY, hold ANY moral high ground. Too hypocritical. Edited December 4, 2018 by Lonestar_Husker Additional content. 4 Quote Link to comment

I agree with you, but it happens everywhere. The is a substantial number of organizations that are tax exempt that have a clear political agenda. Neither example has anything to do with the first amendment, corruption or peoples rights. 1 Quote Link to comment
