I could not imagine being a business owner and each day just hoping that you can open up...it has to be so frustrating.

If I was a business owner I wouldn't be hoping to open up. We are giving up on this and are going to lose everything we have done to this point because we are too impatient to wait until we actually have this under control. Businesses will be shuttered again before too long and many may not even survive until another shutdown gets put in place because they won't have enough costumers to make it. I'd be frustrated with the governments decision to open things back up and in turn stop giving support because now we are open and can pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. Imo, reopening will hurt businesses more than if we would have actually waited as long as we needed to. Not a single state has met phase 1 guidelines for reopening, but those guidelines were tossed to the wayside within a week of creation. We will have to face the consequences of these decisions and they aren't going to be easy to face. I think the darkest days are still ahead of us unfortunately and it's because of the decisions made now.

Time will tell that Trump's handling of the pandemic will show the story of self interest by the president and a lack of care for the larger community. His actions are all calculate to promote him and his re-election.  When the book is written on this administration, there will be a call for his arrest if he hasn't already been arrested for other crimes committed during his time in office.   Below is just another one of his decisions which point to the fact that he wants the economy open at all costs since it is the only possible way he can get reelected.

The decision to shelve detailed advice from the nation’s top disease control experts for reopening communities during the coronavirus pandemic came from the highest levels of the White House, according to internal government emails obtained by The Associated Press.

The files also show that after the AP reported Thursday that the guidance document had been buried, the Trump administration ordered key parts of it to be fast-tracked for approval.

The trove of emails show the nation’s top public health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spending weeks working on guidance to help the country deal with a public health emergency, only to see their work quashed by political appointees with little explanation.

The document, titled “Guidance for Implementing the Opening Up America Again Framework,” was researched and written to help faith leaders, business owners, educators and state and local officials as they begin to reopen. It included detailed “decision trees,” or flow charts aimed at helping local leaders navigate the difficult decision of whether to reopen or remain closed.

White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said Friday that the documents had not been approved by CDC Director Robert Redfield. The new emails, however, show that Redfield cleared the guidance.

This new CDC guidance — a mix of advice already released along with newer information — had been approved and promoted by the highest levels of its leadership, including Redfield. Despite this, the administration shelved it on April 30.

Obama: the govt's response has been " an absolute chaotic disaster". Refering to the Michael Flynn issue, he also notes that the "basic understanding of the rule of law is at risk" -

Former President Barack Obama leveled stinging criticism against President Donald Trump in a private call to former members of his administration Friday, saying Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic is “an absolute chaotic disaster,” and that the Justice Department’s choice to drop charges against former national security adviser Michael Flynn undermines the rule of law.

The remarks, first reported by Yahoo News, are a rarity from Obama, who — in public at least — has been reserved in his assessments of his successor since leaving office.

The call, with the Obama Alumni Association, was intended to urge former staffers to get involved with former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. And it reportedly featured Obama speaking about the importance of electing Biden as political divisions have deepened both nationally and internationally, while making the case for Biden as someone who could bridge those divides.

“It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty,” Obama reportedly said. “It would have been bad even with the best of governments. It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset — of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’ — when that mindset is operationalized in our government.”

The former president also expressed concern over the Justice Department’s decision to drop charges against former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

“That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk,” he said. “And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”

Musk is a great example of utter brilliance in one field not necessarily translating well to other fields. A lot like Ben Carson the neurosurgeon vs. Ben Carson the presidential candidate.

Which fields are you referring to that he's presumably doing bad in?

Epidemiology. People who get as much attention as Musk, especially for running a company that does science, shouldn't be spouting stuff like "this will be gone in a month" when they aren't an expert in epidemiology. It's irresponsible.

Great point! I'm a fan of what Musk is accomplishing with SpaceX and Tesla, but he's definitely a douche in other areas of life and thinks he's an expert in everything but he quite clearly isn't.
