RedDenver
Early studies showing long-covid (having covid symptoms for several weeks or months after recovering from covid) occruing in over a third of people that had covid. Prevalence of Symptoms More Than Seven Months After Diagnosis of Symptomatic COVID-19 in an Outpatient Setting Quote Background: With millions of SARS-CoV-2 infections worldwide, increasing numbers of patients are coming forward with long-term clinical effects of the disease lasting several weeks to months. Quote Results: Of the 629 participants in the study who completed the baseline interviews, 410 completed follow-up at 7 to 9 months after COVID-19 diagnosis; 39.0% reported residual symptoms. Fatigue (20.7%) was the most common symptom reported, followed by loss of taste or smell (16.8%), dyspnea (11.7%), and headache (10.0%). Quote Limitation: Limitations include generalizability and missing data for 34.8% of participants. 1 Quote Link to comment

If we have learned anything from the last year or so, it has probably been that. We must have one hell of a lot of immunocompromised people in Nebraska. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

Lorewarn
I keep reading that not a single one or almost zero people getting covid now are people with vaccines. So why would we need to shut down if the vaccines are that effectve? Let the unvaccinated people reap what they sow :¯\_(ツ)_/¯: 1 Quote Link to comment

As for schools, kids under 12 cannot be vaccinated, and while covid doesn't affect children as much, it still can have long term effects. Plus there's the increased risk of a vaccine-resistant mutation if we give the virus enough chances. I'm not sure if remote schools is the way to go, but those are some of the issues. 1 1 Quote Link to comment

That's the main issue. The unvaccinated give the virus hosts to mutate. Eventually it'll leap the vaccine hurdle and we're back to square one. 1 Quote Link to comment
