  1. I can't really believe we are comparing LP's domestic assault to MW's indirect attempt at cyber bullying. 2019 I guess.

  2. At the risk of beating a dead horse or feeding a fed horse (sorry PETA)... I don't think there's any substantial reason to hold this opinion, at least not yet. Let's get the low-hanging fruit out of the way first and say this is all alleged. Innocent until proven guilty. Second, legal precedent and the circumstances surrounding what he's accused of doing suggest the very plausible outcome that he would likely only receive probation/diversion if he were to do something like take a plea deal. Lastly, the university has chosen so far to stick with Mo, despite being well within their right to back away from him and provide distance. This suggests they're going to wait and see what the legal system says. If Mo gets what amounts to a minor penalty or slap on the wrist, he will probably be back on the team. The only thing that would likely remove him from the team is if the legal system causes it.

  5. I have to ask. Have you read any of the linked articles (granted, they don't relay much solid information) and followed the story and discussion at all? Or did you just see the titles of the two potential charges he may face? You know he dated her......we think we know he received the video when they were both minors but allegedly sent it to her two years later. You know that in Cali when a minor has consensual sex they still consider it assault because the minor apparently can not give consent even if the action was her idea. You know she and the 2 who supposedly "assaulted" her were all 3 kicked out of their high school when the video came to light. How far do you think a school would get expelling the victim of an assault? We think we know one of the youth who allegedly "assaulted" her got the harsh punishment of...... probation. None of this gives you pause, you're only concerned if he knew she was 15 at the time? I'm guessing he knows exactly how old she is since they dated. I'm guessing he knows a lot more about her than any of us do and likely much about the circumstances of the alleged "assault". BTW, yes I know if this deal doesn't end up being what I think it is, I will look like a complete a$$hole. For the record, I have a daughter that is 19. If she had been sexually assaulted, no way I'm letting her school kick her out and the perps wouldn't get off with probation because they'd still be trying to find any trace of their missing bodies to be able to give them probation.

  6. Well I didn't say it was wrong or outrageous. I'm saying I personally would have found it wrong and creepy if Obama had done an end run in order to confiscate weapons, as part of some political over-reach. I would have wanted Shumer to apply the brakes. Point remaining: it should be wrong for a President to abuse his powers and redefine "crisis" for political gain. Period. You should't be afraid of a future President to point this out, you should oppose the President of your party, too. Sasse has the habit of impressing you with his words and thinking, and then being no different from his less-thoughtful colleagues when it's time to actually exercise power.

  7. I did watch. I came away feeling better about my decision to support her. Shes not selling a pipe dream. Which I like. I don’t believe in free college for all. And she’s not up there promising it. She knows that something has to be done about healthcare but she’s not pushing a magic pill like some other candidates that we will just tax the rich for everything and we will be okay. She likes the ideas in the Green New Deal but doesn’t feel 10 years is an attainable goal for the whole thing. This, to me, is the true honest candidate. Her ideas will appeal to moderates and likely some conservatives where people like Warren and Sanders will not because they go too far to the left.

  8. Let me ask this, who should have the discussion about amendment 25? Why not the people who were having it? i personally have had those same thoughts and conversations. Why not them if they feel he is a danger to the country?

  9. I don’t have to trust McCabe. Trump told us himself he trusts Putin more than our own intelligence services. That is refreshing to you?

  10. At this point that sure seems likely. He can't articulate much of anything other than how un-American the left wing of the Democratic party is. Oh, and that he's a centrist independent. It sure smells like he's just a very wealthy old dude trying to make sure the lefties don't threaten his fortune.

  11. This whole thread is a shining example of just how damn judgemental and dishonest people can be. So many are ready to throw a barely adult kid under the bus without knowing ANY details whatsoever because the in thing to do is believe every accusation these days, screw the accused they may or may not be wrong but I have a reputation as a good person to maintain! A term I heard a while back from a wise man on here, "message board honest". I've tried being blatantly honest on here for a while and it's damaged my reputation quite a bit but I'm honestly getting more and more okay with it because I wish more people would do the same, drop the pious attitudes and stop pretending like this EXACT situation couldn't happen to any one of us or someone we care about. Then MAGICALLY we would want patience and understanding from those judging us. Or maybe we need the undercover OU fan to roll back in here and call us all pieces of crap again.

  12. Careful with that honesty, some people will go to the DBHOF and say they hope you don't procreate because being honest about your opinions makes you a piece of s#!t. Or so I've been told.

  14. Personally, no. I think it's harsh but honest. If someone thinks he should be kicked off the team, but is going to have little to no problem cheering for him in the fall if he isn't kicked off the team, that's fairly hypocritical. It has an air of trying to sound morally incorruptible while ultimately being the exact opposite.

  17. I remember towards the beginning of this thread, a fan (don't remember who and don't really care enough to go look) stated that he won't be a fan of Nebraska anymore if Mo is on the team next year. I would assume that person will either be walking that back or selling some Husker clothing come fall if he's on the team.

  18. I don't think what knapplc is saying is obtuse in any way. We have several fans who want him off the team. What if he isn't kicked off the team? What do those fans do? That's the question he's posing. I can already say what they're going to do with almost complete certainty - the vast majority of them are going to forget MW's legal troubles and scream their throats dry the first time he scores a touchdown in 2019. It boils down to elitist posturing.

  19. I think he was just saying it's going to be somewhat awkward for the people who are chastising Washington now if/when he doesn't get kicked off the team. Are they going to cheer for him if he doesn't get kicked off the team and continues to do well? Or are they going to continue to hold the opinion he's not a good person and that he shouldn't be playing? I think most will probably go with the former, hence walking back their comments.

  20. @TonyStalloni is it refreshing that our president and his minions wanted to transfer nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia? This is the same country that produced the people who carried out 9/11 and the crown prince has murdered people including family members and journalists who go against him. https://apple.news/A-BVZY9xRSZmePR1c-lJW9A Gee, I wonder why people within our intelligence community were discussing Amendment 25. Oh....and I forgot. This was promoted by a guy who failed to register as a foreign agent. Only hire the best....right?

  21. I agree with part of what you are saying. It's a different story if he did not send the video after holding onto it for two years. I said nothing about throwing him in jail. There is a huge gap between being in jail and not being a member of the football team.

  22. He has screwed up, too many times to count. You will do nothing but fall in line. I'll give you that he is running things like he did his business. One built on an inheritance and filed bankruptcy several times. Exactly what we need in the Oval Office.

  24. I like how when people say something inane they find a silly minuscule detail, pretend not to understand it, then try to make the situation about that and hope people forget the original inane comment. In this case you said you'd stop being a fan of Nebraska when he inevitably stays on the team.

  25. I hate the narrative that Osborne did it because he wanted to win. You're right, LP wasn't needed on that team, I believe Osborne when he said he did it, because he thought it was LP's best chance of getting his life straightened out.

  26. To my close friends in central Nebraska whom I'm willing to talk politics with, I'm a bleeding hear liberal. To certain family members who live on the east coast, I'm a die hard conservative. That tells me that I'm probably right where I want to be.

  28. I don't care. Anybody that thinks he deserves any punishment, given what we know so far, isn't being reasonable. I don't care about placating dumb people. Child pornography charges in this case are ridiculous. Revenge porn charges are only reasonable if it was an actual sexual assault and not simply predicated on her being of an age she couldn't give consent. If she was just being free and easy with it, I don't find too much wrong with throwing that back in an ex-girl friend's face. If it was actual assault and he knew it, then he's a scumbag in my book. Then he deserves some form of team punishment. Worst case right now, he should apologize to the team for doing something stupid. Anyway, that's where I'm at with it. You guys can talk all you want about what is and isn't legal in California. IDC.

  30. Of what we know of Mo’s life, it would not be a good for him, and likely those around him, for him to be removed. He’s getting the kind of structure, and with a coach like Held, tough love, that he hasn’t had. I know a lot of people think that’s unfair, after all athletics can be very rewarding, but sports programs have also done a lot to help kids transition into productive adults.

  31. I think it's more a lack of options than "elitist posturing." We don't have any control over the punishment here, and for most fans I'd say whether they want him off the team or not, this isn't so big an issue that they would stop being fans. You can wish he wasn't on the team, but does that mean you can't be excited when the team scores? As people have pointed out countless times we don't have all the details, but I don't think continuing to support a team with a player you want off the team is inherently hypocritical. I never really cheered for Alex Lewis since he bit the crap out of an air force cadet and I wish he had not been on the team, but he was and I'm still going to cheer for the team.

  32. The problem is having that sort of statistical game and winning it. Those games generally come in shoot-outs. A lot of this depends on us having a defense good enough to win games. Seems everything this season does.

  36. I can name you about 20 Huskers from the last 20-25 years who should've never played a down at Nebraska if we're saying what Mo is accused of doing constitutes as low enough character to be removed from the team. And those are just the ones I can name. I won't excuse what he is accused of doing. It's idiotic and definitely a "low character" move, but we're talking about non-violent crime accusations here. This is an interesting line to draw in the sand when taken into context of what could happen and things that have happened with university athletes.

  40. How plausible are those? If we took last year’s numbers, remove Michigan/St since no team on the schedule projects to that level of defense, then take the average multiplied by 12 games: 3266 passing yards 830 rushing yards It’s very likely, if he plays 12 games, he hits those marks. Not only should we expect him to personally improve, but this offense should improve by 60-70 yards as a whole, using its history as a guideline. The one thing I’d expect is for his rushing yards to decline slightly. Too many QB runs last year. It was used as a bit of a crutch last and as the offense as a whole improves they’ll wean off of that. Conversely, 4000 passing yards is not out of the question. It’s harder to project TDs, but with the kind of speed we should see this year, passing TDs could be quite high.
