  1. What did I just read? S&C…S and f’n C? People think that’s near the top of the list of things to fix/change? Did y’all even watch the last two games vs Michigan and the last 2 vs Iowa or our entire B1G schedule this year as opposed to 2 years ago? We may have lots of problems but getting pushed around like a peewee team isn’t one of them anymore. I’d say Duval is doing okay.

  2. The entire fanbase is doom and gloom with 0 evidence of something going wrong. Take a chill pill. It's going to be alright.

  3. My god, can you people find anything else to complain about??????

  4. I feel like Trev standing pat wasn't what a lot of people wanted, but it may have been the most shrewd move with all of the turnover. Save $12 million in buyout, don't get stuck with a "meh" coach (Riley), and you have the option to reset next year if Frost can't make it work.

  5. You've done this in the past, and you are doing it again now. Your "wish" for an offense at Nebraska is completely unrealistic and is based on how offenses operated 30-40 years ago. You want 550 yards of offense a game? Well only one team in the country achieved that in 2021 (Ohio State). You want 300 yards rushing? That was done by 2 military academies, Air Force and Army. You want a 70-30 run-pass ratio? Again, only done by military academies. You want a top offense in the country while having more rush yards than passing yards? Of the top 20 offenses, only 1 team is anywhere near a 50-50 ratio and that Coastal Carolina. You need to have an understanding of how modern football actually works, because your posts make no sense when you make posts of your "wishes". The only thing that will make your wish come true is if you get in that Delorean of yours and go back to the 1980s and 1990s.

  6. I disagree with S&C being an issue. Look at all the jumps the defensive line has made. Daniels could barely play more than 2 snaps early in his career. Robinson, Stille, Thomas, etc.

  7. How do you know Nebraska is just sitting around and waiting? How do you know they're waiting for anyone to finish their season? Maybe those things are true, maybe not. This is what I mean - people are jumping to assumptions based purely on speculation. McKewon & Sipple have both relayed on their podcasts that Frost is being very diligent and detailed with these hires, making sure that he gets the right fit at each spot. You may disagree with the approach, but can we just wait and see who gets hired before we all just hit the panic button? The defeatist mentality is so exhausting.

  8. Well, I’d say the eyes are a lot more important with S&C. I mean he ain’t calling the plays or executing them or kicking the ball or running special teams or…..need I go on about who’s more responsible for the W-L record? Sure, S&C contributes across the board but it is obvious getting pushed around in the trenches was not our problem this year like it has been the past few. Its gotten noticeably better every year but still the wins haven’t come. I’ll say it again, S&C is showing pretty damn good improvement from where we were before he got here.

  9. Here's a question: what's more important? That Frost fills the positions quickly Or That Frost makes sure he gets the hires correct How about we not just assume without evidence that everything is terrible? Especially after he already hit a home run getting MJ here

  10. Frost could instantly upgrade S&C by getting rid of Duval and going after Moffitt from LSU.

  12. +10000 Duval has been a head S&C coach for 12 seasons. His teams have 2 winning seasons and a record of 57-86 (.398).

  13. Graham Harrell interests me. I think he could blend some of his concepts with some of Frost's. He's willing to run the ball more than any of the other Leach disciples. I think Rahmir would fit into his offense well. I think he would be able to get us a portal QB. I think MJ with Betts and Omar in his room pair well with him. He's been a power 5 play-caller and has had some solid offenses, also taken his lumps. You guys can boot me from the board now.

  14. Eh, I'm not sure about that. USC was right at 55/45 pass/run this year. We're not talking about the 72% pass Mike Leach offense. They put in some of Frost's running schemes and get close to 50/50 and that could be interesting. USC would have had to run one more running play per quarter to be 50/50 this year.

  15. Frost interviewed Raiola and Jeff Quinn last Friday for OL coach. Busch, Brumfield and now VT's James Shibest for ST. Not that those are the only candidates. Just ones that are in the mix.

  16. I think he wants Graham Harrell for Texas recruiting, attracting elite QBs, and a style that overwhelms the BIG west. Nebraska obliterated Wisconsin's D, and I think Scott wants a better version of that with his Wr and TE talent. Harrell also has a well defined identity. If it is Graham, I don't love it, but I can sort of see why he'd be considered.

  17. Eyes may say one thing, his results say another. 57-86. 2 winning seasons out of 12.

  18. Um, no. I don't think you understand how RPOs work.

  19. People are way too caught up with how things look and not the end result. We were losing pretty this year, and for some reason people seemed to enjoy it. Hell, in this thread we have people s#!tting on Harrell for whooping a conf foe, but they didn't rush for any yards. I really don't care who we hire, if Frost wants to ride or die with them for one season, they can save me a spot on that bus. Run for 300 yards a game with Brent Davis, throw for 300 with Harrell, hire Ron Brown as the OC for all I care...doesn't matter just win games. Frost is gonna have to own it if it doesn't work out regardless of who it is.

  20. To be fair, the guy has had a Top 25 offense like 5 years in a row.

  21. The Notre Dame OL coach seems like a great get though.

  22. Gonna need Dauber to come with or it’s a deal breaker.

  23. I'm legitimately concerned about bringing in an air raid guy. That seems like very square peg and round hole to me.

  24. Here's the only logical direction. MJ is passing game coordinator...so that should eliminate any OC that is pass heavy or has a heavy strength in knowledge in passing concepts/route combinations, etc...they will likely hire a guy who is a run heavy guy or a guy who's philosophy is more of a run first guy...i.e. army's oc, Utahs oc, UTSAs oc, coastals oc, North Texas oc...or someone like that. If they have MJ as passing game coordinator and then bring in an air raid guy, that's idiotic. Now that I've thought this through...I could see this happening.

  25. OK, if that's the case, why isn't Frost fired yet? So, the answer is....no.
    5 points
  26. Is it possible that the delay is that TA decided to fire Frost and the search has changed? Just speculation, but is it possible new information about Frost’s ineptness was shared last week by the departing players? it’s also weird to me to name MJ before an OC, and associate head coach was added to his title.

  27. I think a decade + of incompetence on and off the field proves evidence enough.

  28. Gonna be a little dicey five days before signing day but I would rather go all in on portal guys & get a dude who is the right fit then get a s#!tter coach because we wanted to do this ASAP. This is do or die.

  30. So if we as fans want the program to turn itself around, which do you think is more helpful: 1) the fans draw irrational, negative conclusions about everything going on which creates negativity nationwide Or 2) the fans unconditionally support the program and the coaches until it's absolutely 100% clear that it's time to clean house

  31. It's not a general perspective. It is called intelligence. It is called learning from what evidence we have from the last 4 years. At this point Frost has lost earning the benefit of the doubt. Now he has to prove everything. We are supposed to believe he is orchestrating some great hire that is dragging out? We are 1 week from early signing and needing to secure kids from the transfer portal but we dont have a coach named yet. No other program is sitting around and waiting. They are doing what is in the best interest of their program. Is it in the best interest for Nebraska to wait for someone else to finish their games? No. So WTF? Are we trying to win a nice guy competition or are we trying to set ourselves up to win games next year?

  32. I can't imagine going through life with this general perspective

  33. Unless Graham is willing to change a ton of his offense, I just don't see how this is the direction Scott goes. This is kind of crazy.

  34. I mean ... if it's based on this year, I'm surprised we didn't win by more. Or come up just short. Not sure which would be more likely.

  35. Your example of strong passing teams not working in the B1G is Ohio St? Not really sure that’s a good example haha. Purdue isn’t Uber talented and can’t run for s#!t and did fine this year. People over exaggerate style, just do what what you do well and you can win in any league.

  38. Fix special teams and all of a sudden we win more games and people stop complaining about things like S&C.

  39. A ton of smoke about Hayden Fox for OC Raiola would be a great hire it's always good to have a Samoan pipeline going.... watch the Utah game

  40. I honestly think Duval has done a decent job when I look with how much more competitive our guys look now compared to a few years ago. I really think play calling, turnovers, lack of OL development and special teams are what doomed this season. In 2018 Michigan just overpowered us and this year it was a struggle for them to come away with a win.

  41. I'm a bears fan (I know, glutton for punishment) and this guy has turned chicken s@!t into chicken salad. They're trotting out an LT who is 39 and was fishing when the season started, a LG who was a center (he's solid), an UDFA C who spot started at notre dame, a RG who was a center in college (he's solid), a RT who is a rookie 5th round pick that clearly wasn't ready but was forced into action. And if you can believe it, their backups aren't good either...aside from Jenkins from okie state...but he's just back from injury and hasn't played. This guy can coach and improve the oline. It was a dumpster fire throwing and rushing early. Now its damn good running and adequate passing... Their problem is crap playcalling now, not offensive line play. He'd be a great hire

  47. On local sports radio in Tulsa this morning they were talking about how quickly OU hired Venables as the new HC and that they don't have the "Nebraska mess'. Others are noticing and recruits are noticing and portal players are noticing - one month in and we don't have OC and other assistant coaches named and we have a signing date just around the corner.

  48. Riley - came with the head coach Long - His Tulane offense was ranked in the 70s Ciarocca - back in the same spot he was a couple years ago - isn't official yet Morris - back at the same school he previously coached Kittley - back where he played - isn't official yet Beck - came with the head coach and wasn't a sitting OC So two of those aren't official yet. Two came with the HC when the HC moved. One is back to a school he previously coached at and one is a pretty lackluster hire. I guess I don't see that as a big incitement of our process.
