  3. Yep! the fact hat some people can't admit that it so clearly came from that lab is just weird.

  6. I'm not deflecting anything. I'm simply pointing out the absurd nature of modern conservatism and the lengths individuals go through to make their conservative identity work. I fully support research and further investigations into the origins of COVID-19. It is still most likely occurred naturally, but it's possible (although improbable) that it originated in a lab. What I find amusing is that Conservatives like you latch onto the DOE report as if it's gospel - because you WANT it to be true. Conservatives have to reject reality to make their conservative identity make sense. So the nanosecond an institution publishes something that confirms any portion of that identity, its latched onto - despite what any number of other reports or studies say about the matter. Furthermore, scientific findings and near total agreement among scientists about climate change is rejected because it runs counter to your conservative identity. The same can be said about scientific findings about COVID death rates in counties that voted for Trump, efficacy of vaccines or Ivermectin or any number of things. This is not treated with the same vigor because it runs counter to the Conservative identity - and it would really suck if conservative voting led to all these terrible outcomes and therefore must be false.

  8. Ummmm isn't football a game where there is opportunity for injury due to twisting and people falling into you and what not? You can only prevent injury by practicing scenarios where they might happen - I say go at it, it may very well help him be better conditioned to not get injured in the season.

  9. There’s a lot to unpack here. First let me start with Trump calling it the China virus. Immature, irresponsible and needlessly inflammatory for sure…but not entirely wrong, except for who it was and the way he went about it. The hatred it spawned against Asian people was/is horrible and was not acceptable (like most everything Trump). Personally I’m not rooting or hoping one way or the other and I don’t think anything about it has been conclusive. In fact I would be relieved to find out for sure it was the result of some naturally occurring species jump. I just think given the location and the Chinese government’s attempts to cover up and not cooperate are pretty damning. People that don’t have something to hide generally don’t go out of their way to hide things. Occam’s Razor and all that…

  11. Elite athletes want to be pushed to get better, get stronger, and get faster. It's part of what makes them elite. If Haussman wasn't getting that at NU under Duval and the prior staff, that is concerning. I wouldn't be surprised if other former players felt that way, as well.

  12. Interesting comment by Hausmann on leaving NU for Michigan. I wonder if other current players are glad for the new S&C as well. Hausmann says that above all he was most impressed with the Wolverines’ secret weapon: strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert. https://wolverineswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/01/why-ernest-hausmann-decided-to-become-a-wolverine/

  15. He was good to go until he got a slight tear in the other knee. It wasn’t even close to as bad as the first one but while he was out, they went back into the first knee and cleaned some stuff up. He could have actually been back for the start of the year if they didn’t work on both knees. He was cleared to play after the OU game.

"No epidemiological link was found between the first patient and later cases," they state. Their data also show that, in total, 13 of the 41 cases had no link to the marketplace. "That's a big number, 13, with no link," says Daniel Lucey, an infectious disease specialist at Georgetown University. https://www.science.org/content/article/wuhan-seafood-market-may-not-be-source-novel-virus-spreading-globally

  22. 1) that bill is complete stupidness and the State congressman should be embarrassed. 2) Filidorski is a complete idiot for the headline in his tweet as the bill is in reference to any state Gov official not just Gov’s office. From the article that Filidorski posted and cutoff a paragraph in his tweet Brodeur’s proposal, Senate Bill 1316: Information Dissemination, would require any blogger writing about government officials to register with the Florida Office of Legislative Services or the Commission on Ethics. In the bill, Brodeur wrote that those who write “an article, a story, or a series of stories,” about “the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, a Cabinet officer, or any member of the Legislature,” and receives or will receive payment for doing so, must register with state offices within five days after the publication of an article that mentions an elected state official.

  23. You guys do know there's a long history of pandemics caused by viruses jumping species. It's kinda been the pandemic MO for the last several years, if not most of the Life on Earth era. So why would it be weird to believe this time? I was against the idea it was from a lab when there was no clear evidence of any kind, the President was calling it The China Virus, and people were beating up Japanese Americans for looking Chinese. At the same time, is China capable of running a flawed and dangerous virology lab? Or conducting viral warfare against the West? Sure. Why not? But pretending the evidence is conclusive is also a bit weird, as is rooting for the latter scenario as if it's preferable.

  24. I loooove conspiracy theories, as fun-thinking possibilities (and that's all to be honest). IMHO people who were not live witnesses of something extraordinary happening, have difficulty with understanding that something amazing did occur when those same people did not see it in human flesh. So it did not happen lol.... It's the same ol' tune that some people claim they have to "See it to believe it " and/or say "prove it to me" Well.... 27. I am not sure what the DEI programs do. If it's about providing access to better education and opportunities for minorities great. If it's about dumming down the curriculum to a lower standard in the name of equity, forget it. If it's not merit based, I am not that interested. And when I say merit I don't mean they have to be a 4.0. If a kid goes from a failing student to a overall 3.0 because he was inspired by a teacher, coach, parent along the way, that is a great story. If this kid has put in the effort, by all means give them the reward and even more opportunity.

  30. This ladies and gentlemen is a great example of the Art of Projection. It’s very well done. A tweet about DOE report was shared without comment by me. Though I do agree with the person who made the tweet in saying this discussion had been suppressed and tried to be shut down by “the experts”. Same thing is still happening on here as shown above. Poster tries to ridicule, use hyperbolic language, and “rage farm” about latching on to a study that shares my point of view on the subject all the while trying to claim I’m anti-science. Unlike you, I’m open to being wrong, when evidence is presented to confirm natural origin. Like finding the species in the wild that has Covid-19. I’m hoping you are aware how small the odds that a coronavirus mutated into Covid -19 virus inside the body of an animal while an animal was sitting in a cage in Wuhan that against almost all odds was able to jump to humans in a capacity to latch and create spread on its first jump attempt. We do know however, that it is much easier for human to animal transmission. Why didn’t the paper from 2022 look into the possibility that humans infected those caged animals that they claim were responsible for a zoonotic jump? The likely hood of that is much greater occurring to the CDC.

  32. It doesn't take long for coaches to realize watch S&C drills and say within their inner circles "This kid is still not in good shape (despite losing a lot of weight already) and he still needs to transform his body. He doesn't have the strength, speed, and agility we need to be a regular contributor, but we still think he is worth keeping him around and see if we can develop him." The S&C work isn't just weight lifting and running. It's a lot of drills which mimic the on-field, physical battles which players face in the games. I haven't seen these drills, but it wouldn't be that much of a leap of faith to think that Hood is really struggling in these "game-type" drills.

  41. Many of the posts in the thread are disputing The Turtle and want the USA to stop providing aid to Ukraine stating that we have needs in the USA. Well, these are typically trump cult members who use that excuse to support trump's master - Putin. However, the money spent in Ukraine ends up degrading Russia's military and it also prevents the USA from having to send soldiers when Putin goes after a NATO country next (Poland) if he isn't stopped in Ukraine. This is the best way from keeping us from having to send troops to assist in another war in Europe (hopefully).

He spent every free minute he could find watching YouTube videos of other people playing video games - games that he didn't even play himself. It was just entertainment for him. Super weird to me and everyone else lol
