  1. Matt Rhule with the reverse psychology. "Yeah, Tony White is great UCLA, you should hire him". UCLA looks around "nooo, we're gonna hire this other guy".

  2. He was really good in NCAA Football 2001. Hiring from within seems like their best chance of not losing a lot of players to the portal. And best of all we get to keep TW for another year.

  5. I mean the fact that a sitting head coach wanted to be out of there so badly that he just up and quit to take a lesser job at another school should probably give any potential candidate pause, you know?

  7. 3 huge games, hoping for 2 (3's a dream) won't be surprised with only 1 Baylor is kind of an unknown. According to the media in Waco they are two deep across the board. Mound is solid but untested with loads of lefty's. They struggled some in 2023 so expect them to play hard here. Tech is a ranked opponent (#21).. loaded and lefty loaded on the mound. Two of the three starters are back including their Friday night starter. They'll bring the long ball. OU is OU.. pitching, situational hitting and running.. Friday starter will be new. Lost their biggest bat also. Here's hoping for at least 2 wins!! GBR

  8. Good deal! As a tax payer, state and federal, it pisses me off when they are to “proud” to take federal money that we help fund.

  9. Yes, I have no doubt of that. I think the others will be running for the VP spot. And I hope Harris is way out of the picture - I have no confidence in her as our Commander in Chief. He's started his 2028 campaign with that debate with DeSantis - he trounced DeSantis in that debate.

  10. Great to see Rhule's attitude. I think that attitude also plays well with the players as it shows his heart that he wants to advance the deserving players in the same way he doesn't want to hold back staff from what they deserve. Butttttt if Tony goes, I hope Rhule has as great of a replacement in his back pocket. Someone would be able to retain all of the players and keep them from transferring out after spring ball.

  11. Republicans ranting about Biden's memory loss while nominating a guy who can't remember who he ran against in the last election, or mixes up the woman he raped with his wife is priceless.

  12. I saw the Michael Cera one a few days ago on IG - still hilarious! The Jesus one is funded by the people that own Hobby Lobby, so I'll just leave it at that. Watched the full Deadpool trailer - I don't get super hyped for comic book movies but I'll watch it cuz Ryan Reynolds is hilarious. I did like the Affleck Dunkin commercial too

  13. And then if the second part takes forever to get released it is even more annoying.

  14. Yeah, there is no sense in defending either one of their memories. They are both too old and mentally feeble. There are limitless examples of both misspeaking and being confused. This is why there needs to be an age limit for President, Senators and Congress persons. But these are the two poor choices the system has left us with. I’ll take the doddering old man over the doddering old willfully criminal and tyrannical d!(k all day long.

  15. I’m not a macroeconomics person, and I know it’s obvious to anyone with a brain that NATO is good for us and not upholding the treaty is a bad thing, but let’s say Russia takes over Europe while we save money by not helping them, and then everything settles down into a new normal. Russia would be a total s#!t trading partner with us and it would have a horrible negative impact on our economy, and we couldn’t really run to China either. Russia and China would just be laughing at us as we spiral downward. China is a huge trading partner with us right now but they could decrease that by a lot in this circumstance. The other hypothetical is Russia fails against a US-less NATO. I’m sure Europe will still trade with us but they’re going to try to avoid doing anything that benefits us in any way. Being an isolationist/nationalist country esp when it comes to Europe is going to leave us way worse off than if we are good allies to them.

  16. Now that we are past Usher, who should be next? Next year's in Nola, then it goes NoCal, SoCal. It seems like we are in the stage of artists that were big in the 90s getting their shot for the SB, and we haven't had a 'country' artist in a while (if ever) but I think for Nola, maybe a Garth Brooks or Carrie Underwood halftime would be highly liked. Maybe if the NFL wants to trigger the right some more, go with T.Swift. If they go back to rock maybe a Bon Jovi of a Def Leppard doing medleys of their hits. If they keep on the RB/Hip hop focus, maybe try and get an Outkast to come back together. Who say you? Who should do the halftime next year? I would personally like someone a little more contemporary, but the NFL doesn't seem to do that with the halftime act.

  17. Yeah but who cares? Families fight and get mad at each other. It happens. It doesn't mean they don't love the guy or don't care about him. It just means they don't like some of the s#!t he has said. Plus, the Kennedy Family is kind of sleazy anyway.

  18. Yes, I understand that argument about the power of incumbency. But this is unlike any other previous election - 2 very elderly guys running. Both with apparent cognitive issues. On his record alone - Biden should be trouncing Trump in all polls. Heck, he should be trouncing Haley as well. But his age/aging issues is overshadowing his accomplishments. And both guys, are charismatic in their own way. Of the governors I mentioned, I would say Newsom is the most charismatic. But I think Beshear and Whitmer specifically would get high marks for governing in both of their states - Beshear in a GOP dominated state and Whitmer is a state that could be considered somewhat purple - not always solidly blue as Trump took it in 2016 (thanks to Hillary thinking she could take it for granted).

  19. Cool - the theme reminds me of "Finished Business" - the 1 second on the clock for the 1994 team to remember. We had come up just short of beating FSU in the Orange Bowl (but honestly bad officiating cost us that game ...but I digress) The next year the team went on to finish the business by beating Miami and getting the NC. The team was prepared and while Miami was trying to catch their breath in the 2nd half, our team was fresh and strong. Last year: 5 games lost by 3 points last year and I think 3 on our last possession. Just think what the difference in perception it would have made if we had won even 3 of those 5.

  22. It very much is dumb. But Republicans love their 78 year old Rapist candidate, with clear memory problems and multiple criminal indictments. He's going to win the Republican nomination and likely the Presidency because he reflects what conservative voters want in their candidate. Democrats seem more willing to admit that age is an issue with their candidate but also wouldn't (and shouldn't) entertain the idea of running another candidate. I guarantee you that Gavin Newsome and Gretchen Witmer talked to the consultants and concluded that they would lose any challenge to Joe Biden badly.

  25. I respectfully disagree with your main thrust here, as folks can have widely different takes on specific items of interest. Falling in line lock stock and barrel because one has a D or R next to your name is what got us here in the first place. I keep an open mind. I have beliefs that span the spectrum from Liberal to Conservative ..drives my circle crazy.

  26. Yep. Typical cognitive changes with aging. I wish we didn't have a system that spat out people this old, but here we are. If we assume both aren't as sharp as they once were, I'll take the non-fascist with good policy that actually benefits me and people I care about 10/10 times.

  27. Apologies about your family. Hope they're doing as well as they can. Stuff sucks. You want a fair take? Yeah he's got the same type of memory issues as most people of his age. Same as his opponent. If I wanted to I too could go tit for tat with clips of his opponent misspeaking and forgetting things. Our political system is poised to spit out a couple olds again this cycle as our choices. I think that sucks but it's the system we've got and I don't foresee changes coming because the system is so resistant to change. That said your "diagnosis" is just shooting from the hip unless you're privy to his medical records. Some cognitive decline is normal as we age. Your assumption that it's a "severe brain function issue" that is bound to progress is just 100% your opinion unless you're Dr. Archy, MD, and you're the president's personal physician. I get that it's easy to arrive at that conclusion, especially for Republicans, but it's just not medically sound. And, in spite of my own beliefs here, that Special Counsel opinion was some typical politicized GOP bullcrap. No case to charge him, so might as well get a few punches in that give the party something to run on. But then I wouldn't expect a Trump appointee to call balls and strikes fairly. I would expect them to do something politically beneficial for their party, which is what they did.

  28. I think his views are on the fringe for some things, but on the pulse of citizens for others. Some of the stances viewed as "disinformation" like vaccines for instance, are moving more mainstream. https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2023/10/10/rfk-jr-launches-independent-2024-run-here-are-all-the-conspiracies-he-promotes-from-vaccines-to-mass-shootings/?sh=62761eb53cef He does seem to want to put Americans first, which I think is a good thing.

  35. They have done THE WORST job with her. You have a female minority VP of the greatest strongest country in the world and they literally do not to set her up for success. It makes no sense at all. She should be the most visible VP in history, period.

  36. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying you don't know he has severe cognitive issues bound to rapidly get worse anymore than I know that about Trump. It's why you won't see me propagate that type of narrative about him even though that type of stuff is definitely out there. Being a buffoonish, comically corrupt fascist who cares only about himself offers a target-rich environment. Garland is a timid institutionalist who appointed a Trump appointee to head off Republican complaints about bias. He behaved exactly like you'd expect a young Republican Trump appointee to act and wrote a report with a nice Trumpy narrative for his party to work with. Frankly, if the phrase "I don't recall" in the context of a deposition equates to someone who is not mentally sound, then we need to start building a lot more damn memory care units.

  37. Agreed. And sometimes those fringe theories prove out. I've seen it several places that some conspiracy theories are the truth just waiting on more facts. What I like (not) is when the two are juxtaposed and people then call out "sources" rather than admit the change.
