  1. So, getting vaxxed is "required" but it is not enforced. You can just opt out of it, it has been that way for years. Trump is just talking out of his a$$.

  2. Austin used to be a nice place. I remember being able to stay downtown, walk around, enjoy good food and music. Always felt safe...except maybe at Halloween. I am not sure why people don't just vote in better leadership. https://www.foxnews.com/media/austin-brink-disaster-police-shortages-hit-crisis-level-god-help "Previous councils and leadership have actively worked against our officers and department, which has now put us in a free-falling staffing crisis," Bullock warned. "Twice now we’ve had our contract voted down or it has been allowed to expire. Each year since 2017, we’ve lost more officers than we’ve hired. We had to gut our specialized units and force detectives to work backfill on patrol just to try and respond to 911 calls." Last year, the department was on the verge of a staffing collapse after 40 officers filed retirement papers following a 9-2 city council vote to scrap a four-year contract that the city had previously agreed to in principle and instead pursue a one-year contract that the police union’s board had rejected. "As a result," Bullock continued, "our staffing has been set back at least 15 years and at the same time we’ve dealt with a population growth of over 250,000 new residents. Combine that with a district attorney who has made it very clear that targeting officers and releasing criminals is his priority – not public safety."

  4. IDK man, it’s kind of nice knowing where all the worst employees are going to be. Without fast food places those people could end up in jobs anywhere. Yeah, I’ve been screwed over in too many drive thrus.

  5. It’s so crazy to me that people on the Left leave a state or locality with policies they helped vote in which made said State/Locality unattractive to live in, only to vote in/try to vote in those insane policies for their new State or locality. It’s like they need to get thumped in the head multiple times before they figure out it hurts.

  7. My perception for the past several years is we’ve struggled to get clutch hits. So far this year, they are doing an excellent job in that category. Hopefully that keeps up.

  8. Again…..I believe you were the only one bringing up hypothetical policies, like guillotine…etc. I guess you were discussing them with yourself I didn’t see anyone else bring up “lawless leftist hellscapes either” except yourself.

  18. I would, at times in my life, get fast food often for two reasons really, cheap and tasted good. Well, it is not cheap at all anymore. Pizza is the only "fast food" that is cheap anymore. Back in the day I would spend 40-50 dollars a week for groceries...Friday would usually be happy hour and then fast food. Saturday no breakfast, grab lunch, beers, grab dinner. Sunday would be breakfast and then dinner. It was so cheap.

  21. I work in the medical field and have coworkers who openly talk about being skeptical of vaccinating themselves and their kids... COVID was incredibly damaging in terms of taking a relatively fringe movement and mainstreaming it for a lot of people. It made it pretty easy to ID the morons amongst us, though. Ole George had a pretty good take on this...

  23. Correct so I forget the year that it was, but once they made public education, public education, you also got to the point where you were unable to deny the right to be educated. I think it was after WWI when we found out no one was actually going to school during the draft. of course my guess is the argument would be (now) something like “how can you let a skinhead into school…he could hurt my child” I don’t know for sure if that’s the argument that is used, but I could see that being how it goes.

  24. Why? I’m not about to run around worrying about people’s feelings. That kind of thinking is soft. If the goal is deterrence I want people TERRIFIED. In fact maybe draconian isn’t tough enough…

  25. Yep! It changed a lot probably like 10+ years ago or so. Probably for a few reasons but depending on the district you will either just say "No" or sign waiver type thing or get a doctors note and I have seen religious beliefs as well.

  29. Quinnippiac's poll just a month ago had it Biden 58% Trump 36%. Yeah, so weird numbers. That's what I'm saying. Do you really think that after all the special elections after Roe where the Republicans got trounced, after the IVF debacle in Alabama, after Trump consistently underperforms the polls in the primaries, and after the Republicans are signaling they are going to try to restrict birth control that the data showing gaining women voters is accurate? When was the last time you answered a random robo call? Biden may wind up losing in November but to say it's over now after a New York Times poll in March is silly. I mean isn't Biden outpacing Trump with small donation donors? Isn't his warchest far larger than Trump's? That might be a more accurate data point than polling whatever lunatics answer random calls then trying to weight the results from that.

  37. IV. Persecuting his Perceived Political Enemies Trump said, “As soon as I am reelected, I will appoint a real special counsel, or maybe you’ll call him a special prosecutor, whatever you want to call it … to look at all of these bribes, kickbacks, and other crimes, as well as the shameless attempt at a coverup. Justice will be done. The Biden crime family will be looked at. We have to get there first, we have to win the election. They’re trying to step in my way at every path because the one person they don’t want to run is Donald Trump. But when we get there, the Biden crime family will pay a price like other people are being forced to pay. And that price will be very, very substantial.” Trump said: “If I happen to be president, and I see somebody who’s doing well and beating me very badly, I say, ‘Go down and indict them.’ Mostly that would be, you know, they’d be out of business. They’d be out of the election.” Trump said, “This is third-world-country stuff, ‘arrest your opponent.’ And that means I can do that, too.” As President, Trump repeatedly told his Chief of Staff John Kelly that he wanted the IRS to investigate several of his perceived political enemies, including former FBI director James Comey and deputy director Andrew McCabe. Both Comey and McCabe were subsequently subjected to a rare, intensive IRS audit that affects only one out of every 30,600 tax filers. Trump has expressed support for executing high-ranking American government officials, and while in office he used the levers of government to harass and intimidate his political opponents. Trump’s words and actions suggest he would interfere with or stop prosecutions of his political allies. On Jan. 6, 2021 Trump expressed support for the January 6 rioters who were chanting, “hang Mike Pence,” including commenting that Pence “deserve[d]” it. Trump claimed in an interview with the New York Times in December 2017 to have “an absolute right to do what I want with the Justice Department.”
