  1. Think NU hoops would have a shot at Hoiberg? Would interest be mutual?

If we stay the same next year then I would love it. Money talks and if you want to be a serious contender you gotta pay some cash. We cant afford to take a risk on another Miles.

      Savage Husker

Yup. He has ties to NU and was born in Lincoln. IF both are looking for a new coach and a new job, do what it takes to land him because hiring another up and coming mid-major coach isn't turning heads

  2. What is up with Compton this year? Did he get beat out or is he nicked up?

With all the love he had been receiving previously, didn’t think they would upgrade that position.

At the time Washington signed Brown, Compton was still a RFA who had signed his tender yet.  Washington was most likely covering their bases.  Washington was definitely fortunate and Compton equally unlucky that a LB the caliber of Brown was willing to sign a 1 yr 'prove it' deal.

      *hadn't signed his tender

  3. Big Maple with quite the efficient no hitter tonight! 99pitches, pretty impressive. And heckuva play by Seager, the kind that keep no-no’s intact.

@Xmas32 yeah the starting rotation is awful and this is a team that can be in the hunt for a wild card spot if they can add a legit starter, but they don’t have much in the farm to give up without putting the future in further jeopardy.

    3. Xmas32

      Xmas32

@Savage Husker agreed.  I just don't know what they're going to do as the farm system is pretty barren right now.  I guess the only hope would be if a team is looking to shed salary and the Ms can pick someone up as a half season rental and eat the salary in exchange for a low level prospect.  I'd love to be able to get a guy like Jake Odorizzi but I think the cost will be too high.  The only starters I can think of right now would be guys like Jordan Zimmerman or Smardzija due to their huge contracts.  The Walker trade looks like a huge win right now which is great.  I feel for Walker though, he's got electric stuff and it's a shame he got hurt.

      Savage Husker

I was happy with the Walker trade and especially happy to see the results so far. It’s too bad he keeps getting nicked up but that’s why I’m happy we sent him to Arizona. I was hoping they’d consider Harvey but not unhappy they didn’t get him, he’s a headcase. At this point, they need to be in striking distance in July to go buy a pitcher, unless Kuma comes back from injury looking like his no-hitter self from 3-4 years ago.

  5. I’m critical of Erstad the last 5 years, but this may actually be his best coaching year yet. They had a good start to the season, outside of getting swept by OSU, and got back on track these last few weekends after a rough April/early May. If they can put some work in next week and just show up for a chance at super regional bid, I’ll be excited to see what’s to come with the youth of this team

Thank you for sharing. That all makes sense as to why he went with that lineup and I don’t fault him. What I will question is when you know these percentages are stacked against you, baseball is a game of percentages, then what are you going to do differently to adjust? Drag bunt down the first baseline as the lefty falls off the mound away from the bunt, get runners on and bunt and run or slap bunt? Choke up on the bat and move up and on in the box? Maybe they do teach those things, but it wasn’t working yesterday.

What I like is that he recognizes their weaknesses and doesn’t shy away from addressing it publicly. Your opponent theoretically should already know your weaknesses, if you yourself can’t talk about a glaring problem, then you’re just fooling yourself.

All great points SH! Like most players, I think coaches can get in a rut and have a hard time making a change or seeing the light. Perhaps he patterns his style after coaches he has had at the pro level and maybe that pattern only works well with elite players. I The slate is wiped clean and it's time to get ready for the national tournament. I hope they play well.

Waited in line for 2 hours to be told nothing more than what Omaha employees had already done for me. One lady couldn't find a connection until Friday night. Delta flights out of Midway tripled in price during my wait in line. The good news is, unless more delays occur, I'll catch my first game at Fenway still and make it to Cooperstown on schedule for The Kid's HOF induction, Piazza's too I guess.

Yup I can see the parallels, the only difference is being an alumnus. His was tiring and tough to handle at SF. My friend who went to USD when he was the HC there said he was easily loved or hated because of his personality. One difference though is JH goes out of his way to attract attention, BP wanted nothing to do with attention

    3. Savage Husker

      Savage Husker

I like how JH goes after SEC and there are some points he makes that I'm onboard with. Some other aspects he is so tough to take, and his sideline behavior is one of them.
