The worst advertisements on network TV. Go.
And I'm talking about known, reputable brands. Not some low quality little known product nobody's even heard of.

@BigRedBuster I went into a Menard's store on the day they opened (first one in the region). They played the jingle a few times on the in-store PA, and I asked an employee near me if she was sick of hearing it yet. She said they'd been playing it all the while they'd been prepping the store for opening, and the employees had already been sick of it for weeks.

Well that's bullsh!t. Can't put a mod on ignore. What if you don't want to see all his negative posts anymore? Kinda sucks.

Anybody have a Samsung appliance (refrigerator)? Are they any good?

Samsung appliances, when they work, are great and some of the best out there. The problem is with their failure rates from assembly--if you go with a Samsung appliance, get the extended warranty and make sure it covers the store picking up and delivering/replacing at your home.
And I own a 'Fridge (side by side). Works great, but reviews seemed to be either 4/5* or 1* (because of malfunction).

Interesting on it scratching easily, I hadn't heard that, I think it cleans up way easier. I guess only time will tell how it holds up. We also had to buy the whole set because we needed a new stove and dishwasher so we just said screw it and bought the microwave and fridge. Then the dryer went out so we had to buy a new dryer as well. The joy of homeownership! lol

Has anybody ever smoked a whole beef shoulder clod? Looking for advice.

I did inject. 1 part Johnny's aus jus, 1 part Deschutes Obsidian Stout beer and 1/2 part water. Rubbed with black pepper, salt and granulated garlic and a little red pepper flake. It seems to be stalling at about 163. I'll let it go for a couple hours (or if it gets to 175) and then wrap it. Looks like it's going to be breakfast instead of a late lunch.
-
Well it's done. It stalled for a coupled hours at 158-160. I wrapped it at 163 and reduced the heat from 240 to 225. I should've adjusted my start back since it was about 4 lbs. lighter than my initial plans. I thought it would take 16 to 20 hours and I wanted it done by lunch or supper so started at 5pm but it only took about 12 hours. Didn't get much sleep. It turned out just the way I wanted. Was able to slice (barely) the Chuck roast portion for French Dips but the rest literally fell apart so it will be pulled beef for BBQ sandwiches. Seems to be moist, tender and perfect. I will say though that I prefer pulled pork over beef. I never have been a huge brisket fan and this is very similar but with a beefier flavor. Now to grab 3 more hours sleep before lunch and the ball game.

Brisket smoking advice?
I’ve only smoked a couple briskets before. They turned pretty good but, after watching some YouTube vids, thinking about doing a couple things different. 1- I’ve always done them fat cap up but going to do this one fat side down. 2- I’ve wrapped in foil but this time going to use pink butcher paper and pour some smoked wagyu beef tallow on the meat side as I wrap it. Any comments? @BigRedBuster?

Turned out awesome. Best one I’ve done by far. The flat sliced well, will accordion but not fall apart and not dry. The point….got some to slice but most kinda ripped apart. That point meat is money. Took about 1.5 lbs of burnt ends. Too tired to finish them today. Hopefully they’ll reheat okay with some sauce another day (next Saturday for the game) If not they’re fine as is.
-
@JJ Husker What was the internal temp when you pulled it off? Did you test the temp both in the point and flat?
-
@BigRedBuster It ranged from 198 to 202 in the 4 places I checked it. I don’t recall what it was specifically in the point. I think the long rest is where the point went a bit too far.
As far as carving, the flat was perfect, got good slices that would accordion but not fall apart. Slicing the point was a bit dicier. Got some slices but some fell apart. I was using a serrated bread knife so a better knife would’ve helped.
I may separate the point from the flat next time…?

Think I'll refrain from commenting on game days or the day following from here on out. I seldom have anything good to say anymore and many posters don't seem to appreciate that. I'll just toe the company line and nod along in agreement. It's not like I'm ever going to take advantage of the chance to say "I told ya so" anyway. Nobody likes "that" guy.

Riley does not know how to coachspeak....and that is a good thing. He responds with honest and genuine answers. How refreshing is that?

Yea or nay on the Google Pixel phone? Daughter wants one for her next phone but we don't know much about except that the cameras are supposed to be pretty good (which is what she wants)

I have an iPhone 7+ and leaning very heavily toward getting the Pixel XL 2 when that comes out.
Hearing leaks from insiders who have been correct in the past that the next iPhones will be able to charge wireless BUT you have to buy a wireless charger through Apple and any other third party wireless charger that works with all android phones will not work with iPhones.
With the Pixel, Google proved that with its pure android system is on point with iOS when it goes to reliability (Samsung, LG, HTC all suffer from lag and bloat ware) and its camera software is far ahead of Apples. I think iPhone pictures have that washout look when being compared with the Pixel. The only thinly I like with my iPhone is iMessage and that's it
-
"vertical integration" (I hope that's the right term) refers to Apple controlling the entire development stack. So they design the hardware, they design the software, they control the app ecosystem. In Android, you have sweet hardware innovation in various corners that must conform the the Android OS, which in turn must be exposed to the different vendors and remain neutral in a sense, and then apps get developed across different devices and flavors of the OS, and so on. So you might find yourself running into some apps being only for the iPhone, or working best on the iphone.

Why do they still sell regular Oreos since the advent of the Double Stuffs?

The Washington Compost weighs in on the various Oreos.

Good work BRI. You banned him and locked it in the middle of my reply. Probably saved me a vacay. Thanks.

Quick question; What nowadays would be considered a reasonable amount of money to give for a wedding gift? It is the daughter of some neighbors/friends of ours.
-
So did the end of the world happen? Did our government shutdown? To be honest, I can't tell and I doubt many people would even know.

I enjoyed last nights Harbaugh/Meatchicken/Rudock debacle as much as any red blooded Husker fan but I also found it a little concerning that Jimmy boy didn't seem to get much of anything turned around at ole UM over the course of the last few months. Could this be a sign that Riley's task may also be a little tougher than I anticipate?

Anybody live in the Kalamazoo or Grand Rapids MI area? Got a work trip coming up, probably going to stay in Kalamazoo but could do GR if there is a good reason to. Any good restaurant recommendations?

Just painted my daughter's toenails for prom. Where do I send my man card? Standard mail or overnight?

Does anyone else fear what this board will become should we happen to struggle against NIU?

The ignore function really works slick now since the board update. I literally haven't seen any posts from my ignore list. Even when somebody else quotes them, they're easy to avoid. And the view it anyway option isn't staring you in the face every time you turn around. It's nice. Saves a ton of brain damage.

How many junk emails do you average at your primary email address on a daily basis?
- Show previous comments 12 more

@JJ Husker, I don't know of an effective spam filter for an in-house email server, but there's gmail available for businesses called G Suite. It's probably not what you want, but I've worked for a couple companies that used it and it's great.
-
The email I use for my business seems to be pretty clean, maybe a couple a day (get one daily from a local youth baseball/softball league I coach my kids in).
Now my personal email, the one I put down on everything that requires an email address? If feels like 6,000 a day, but it's probably more like 30-40

So what's on the menu for your Holiday weekend?
-
Sort of a sad day. My twenty yr old son moved to his own place today. I haven't seen tons of him these last two years but he was around. Afraid we won't be seeing much of him at all now. You college students be sure to check in with your parents, they prob miss you.
-
This probaby won't be received well but IMO Randy Gregory was a whole bunch of potential and not a whole lot of performance. He had a tendency to take plays off and was not extremely durable. But he also did eat up a lot of double and triple teams and had some impressive beast mode moments. I just don't see him making a splash at the next level.

Why are people hung up on losing in week 1? For the last 7 years the only thing determining when we won or lost a game was pretty much determined by when we were scheduled to play a team with a heartbeat or a patsy. So we played a good team in week 1 for once, so what? Is it really any different than losing in week 3 or 6 or........?

When is the recruiting dead period over? Or is it time to start worrying?

So if we have the 11th best recruiting class it won't make a difference? Get a clue CoachPT. This class is going to turn out just fine. You guys all demand top 10 classes and then don't follow it at all and just assume it's easy and everyone should be able to get a top 10 class into Lincoln. Have a little faith, heaven forbid we let the cycle come to completion before we judge it.

If you have a big honkin' diesel truck and you regularly punch it for no better reason than to emit a loud roar and puff of black smoke, STOP, because you are an immature douchebag.

Ouch! I slammed my hand in thus darned door 3 times today. I wish HB would move this door to another room or take it out completely. It certainly isn't my fault.
