Kids, when your parent(s) get too old to drive safely and they start talking nonsense, along with taking away their keys, don't forget to shut down their internet access.

Likely the worst missed PI call in the history of the NFL, for sure in a conference championship game.

Lucky day! Stopped to get Mexican food for supper on my way home only to discover it is National Margarita day. This might take awhile...

No Illegal Pete’s that I know of....Don’t think I’ve even heard of that. Just a lot of hole in the wall places around here with really good mex food. A lot of them you wouldn’t go into if you didn’t know any better. The one I wish we’d get up here in Greeley is a Hacienda Colorado. Got those down in Denver and the Springs....more Tex-mexish, pretty good stuff.

@The Dude still think that Kill was better than Fleck, but Fleck's got the support and new facilities to recruit for the program better (to where it compensates for his lack of coaching acumen).
Too bad Kill couldn't have stayed healthy long enough to bring his vision to fruition.

Nice cool day, got the smoker fired up. Trying something different- Smoked Ratatouille.
-
Turned out pretty good. Diced up some eggplant and put those cubes in the marinara sauce then alternating slices of zucchini, yellow squash, Roma tomato and sweet potato. Looks really impressive but I need to finesse the flavors a bit. Had some grilled Ratatouille at a farm dinner a couple weeks ago and it was a bit more awesome than my effort. Of course that one was prepared by legitimate chefs. Mine may have benefitted from that bourbon tip . Maybe next time.

Not looking forward to tomorrow. Have to drive to Lincoln, pack up stuff from daughter's dorm and then drive back, all in one day. Thinking it'll be about 18 hours.

@RedDenver ha, it’s funny that you link that. I saw more than a few yard signs around Lincoln on Saturday for College Hunks Hauling Junk.

Now get out there and sign some defensive difference makers.

October 24th? That’s still 5 weekends without football and no room for any hiccups.

@ZRod I don't think it's the smartest thing to do, but then I think they should have had whatever meeting they had with whatever doctors convinced them to play a couple of weeks ago, too. This rapid-testing they're using has been available for more than a month.
-
I guess I understand (not accept) the delayed meeting but to finally have the meeting, approve the season, and then set it for 6 weeks out. Why, why was the 5.5+ week delay necessary?
My theory is twofold. They're arrogant and stubborn and wanted it to look more like what they had determined previously. And number 2, more arrogance and stubbornness, they're secretly hoping they can once again cancel by that later date, to validate their earlier decision. Why else wait more than 2 or 3 weeks to get it going? Am I failing to see something?
-
@knapplc I've kind of moved more towards it's probably ok to play ball (some what selfishly, but sports can be done safely). I don't think the crowds are a good idea because people are stupid and don't follow rules.
But really the B1G screwed the pooch on this and no matter what they do they look like bumbling idiots. No leadership and no clear direction after an entire summer to make a plan, or set some requirements before play could happen. From supposedly one of the more accademic power 5 conferences.

Preferred alternative turkey cooking method? Smoked or fried?

@Mike Mcdee I've always smoked with a traditional wood fired smoker. I would think the temps used would still be the same for a pellet grill, especially a GMG that has such precise temp control. I'd recommend going at 225-250 to shorten that smoke time. Turkey will pick up smoke fast and cooking slower isn't going to make it any more tender like it does with pork. No sense making it into a long ordeal. You should be able to smoke a 12 pound bird in 4-5 hours. Anyway that's what I would do.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info @JJ Husker.

Pretty bummed/sad today. A local HS senior girl was hit and killed by a train in her SUV Tuesday night. My daughter had played softball and 3 years of club volleyball with her. We found out out of the blue while watching the news last night. Quite the gut punch.

I came very close to being in a train accident back when I was in high school. I had a car-full of friends, we were goofing off, and nobody (including me) noticed the train until the very last second. I was able to slam on the brakes and somehow slide to a stop about 10 feet from the tracks. They put up lights and a crossing arms the next year, but I still find myself thinking about what could have happened. We were lucky. I'm sorry this young lady was not.
