  1. Frost said hi to Damon Benning before the Press Conference started.  It's so clear the two guys hate each other.

@Frontrunner, since we're all being cordial, my name is Enrique, my favorite color is clear, I'm hooked on phonics, I love warm hugs, and I have a drinking problem, but only when I park in the red zone.

  2. I think it's great that Frost did such a great job at UCF, but I hope we can forget about that school from now on.

UFC fans are so sick of Husker fans.

Nebraska fans are enamored with UCF because it was the closes proxy to Nebraska being successful this year.

It's also the offseason and a dead period for recruiting. We can either talk about UCF or Nebrasketball.

  3. All the coaches in the ESPN film room during the OU-Georgia game were making fun of rugby tackling. #Eichorsted

Bielema has been good in there. He’s a funny guy.

He was the only unemployed coach on the panel. :D  He was funny, though.

      ColoradoHusk

Bielema made a joke how he was the only one in the panel without a team logo on his shirt.

  4. The coaches film room on ESPNEWS is such a great way to watch these playoff games. All-22 view with some great coaches commenting. Gary Patterson is owning the room.

  5. I think I will put my half UCF-half Nebraska shirt to good use today.

My B1G conference sweatshirt is a full zipper hoody, so I can easily take it off when I flip over to the Peach Bowl.

I can always take off my sweatshirt and wear this!!!

  7. Greg Schiano could end up with $20.75 M for Tennessee for being "fired without cause".  It's a sticky situation, but I think Schiano would have a good case.  http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21742751/greg-schiano-earned-277m-6-plus-years-scrapped-tennessee-deal

True, @HuskerNBigD, but I think Meyer is thinking "glad to have you back, Greg, Tennessee really screwed you over."

    3. RunMickeyRun02

      RunMickeyRun02

IMO it seemed more like Ten folks just hated the hire and dig some digging so they could stop the hire. Yeah, the stories could be true but it's really a he said/he said kind of thing.

In other words if Tennessee had hired Saban no one would have bothered turning over all the rocks to find something damning.

    4. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

Agree, @RunMickeyRun02.  Clay Travis was the big Tennessee guy who was mad at the hire, and dug up this stuff at Penn State and started the Twitter storm.  That exploded on campus, and Schiano was all of a sudden "not the hire".

  8. Listening to Benning this morning, he was pretty spot on regarding Frost having a very tough decision to come to NU.  That's the only point that Benning kept on making over the past few months, is that Frost was really enjoying coaching at UCF, and it was going to be a harder decision than most people thought for him to leave.  In fact, Frost had to be talked into following through with NU by Osborne on Friday night.  Of course, most people just want to say that DB was being a hater, and didn't like Frost.

  9. Frost to current players:  The vacation is over!!!

    1. Landlord

      Landlord

Well technically he told them to go on Christmas vacation and enjoy it, then come back. So the vacation is starting?

    2. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

He also told them they would have more fun than they ever have.

When I coached youth teams, those in charge always wanted it to be about having fun, not winning. I always asked my players, what is more fun than winning? Hard work doesn't seem hard at all if you get the payoff in the end.

His complete contempt for them was obvious. I assume his feelings are shared by Osborne.

with buyouts like that why would you NOT try to get fired?

  12. The more and more I read about Riley's tenure and I think about him, he's the type of guy who would be great at leading a non-profit, charitable organization, but would be awful at leading a corporate behemoth that needs to report strong earnings every quarter.

I think Riley could make a good AD.

  13. Saban just dropped a "what the f#*k are we doing?" on CBS.  So funny.

  14. Moos quit watching the Huskers yesterday and started watching the UCF game like 90% of the rest of Husker fans.

  15. Someone who is computer graphics savvy needs to make a Last Jedi gif/pic with Scott Frost.

Oh you hush up MLB....but yeah it will probably be a day or two after.

  17. Minnesota scored 10 points in each of the 2 games before playing Nebraska. Hangs 54 on the El Diaco D, and is now being shut out at Northwestern. One of these things is not like the other.

  18. Saw on Twitter that Kansas State had an agreement to bring Jim Leavitt to Manhattan to be DC and Head Coach in Waiting, and was going to take over in 2018. Grandpa Bill mixed that idea because he wants his son to get the job when he retires. Interesting.

I agree St. Paul, but the booster blamed Carl, and demanded that Carl leave NU.

I think the woman went down to FAU with Carl when he took the job there.

  20. Someone who is much better at pasting Twitter posts should start a thread from SpreadOffense.com@SpreadOffense on Twitter.  They are showing a bunch of old spread plays from the 90s, and how Osborne started so many of today's spread principles.

      ColoradoHusk

Osborne was just scratching the surface of getting into some spread principles near the end of his tenure.  It's some cool stuff.

  21. In both of Riley's biggest "upsets" during his time at NU, his team was able to overcome a 12-point, 4th quarter deficit.  NU just needs to get to that 12 point deficit going forward.

    1. Thanks_Tom RR

      Thanks_Tom RR

Don't worry. Riley's teams have a knack at getting behind early in a game (usually by multiple scores). Over 65% of snaps by the offense have been while trailing this season.

    2. knapplc

      knapplc

      That's a heck of a stat.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

This is one area where both sides of the ball are doing their fair share.......getting us behind early. Who knew that could be a positive.

  22. I know the DPI on the fake punt was a terrible call, but how did the officials miss the Tanner Lee fumble at midfield early in the 2nd quarter?  He wasn't close to being down and he lost the ball.  NU caught a break there, and ended up getting a FG on that drive.

    1. RedDenver

      RedDenver

If I'm remembering the play right, the refs ruled his forward progress stopped before the fumble, not that he was down.

    2. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

It's just weird that they ruled it that way when he's being brought down on a sack.  That call rarely happens.

Except in the big 12 ;)

  23. Kenny Bell getting another shot with the Ravens.  He was put on their practice squad today. I hope he can stay healthy, and eventually make it on the 53-man.

    1. Mavric

      Mavric

Ravens are in a world of hurt (no pun intended) keeping WRs healthy right now.  Hopefully he makes the most of the chance.

“Can’t” lose this weekend? Me thinks somebody is way overestimating this staff’s clock management skills.

  25. I have finally watched the Ohio State game.  Wow, I didn't expect it to be that ugly.  NU offered no resistance on either side of the ball.

At least now you can see how well Spielman played and what we were all talking about in the 200 yard thread.

    4. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

Correct, @HuskerInLostWages I did like how Spielman played.  He seemed like the one player out there who was giving a f*ck about the game.  I was wrong about my "garbage time" stats comment.
