We are just a few pieces away. With just a little bit better QB play, we beat Minnesota, MSU and Maryland. That's a fact. And that's 8 wins with a bowl game coming up. Plus we took Wisc to OT and were tied 10-10 with Iowa with a few minutes left in the game. Even in the CU game the defense was holding it down while the QB play was beyond horrible. We gifted them 13 points right before halftime. This team doesn't need a lot of help. Just a few pieces away. QB & WR come to mind. A better punter. And better punt return efforts. 1 8 Quote Link to comment

Football is a team sport. But the losses weee primarily the result of 1 position. Average QB play this season we are bowling at a minimum. Good play we are playing in the conference championship. 1 Quote Link to comment

Dr. Strangelove
1 hour ago, Mavric said: With the new teams coming to the conference, this team is more than just a QB from competing with Oregon/Washington/PSU/OSU/Michigan/USC. They need better running backs, better players in the secondary, the ability to generate a pass rush without blitzing, better punting, somebody who can advance a punt more than 3 yards, and a coaching staff that doesn't operate based on fear to start. This team wasn't good. They played a lot of close games because they compete in the B1G West, which shields them from playing opponents that have talent. 2 2 3 Quote Link to comment
GISker
The USC Trojans have Miller Moss and Malachi Nelson currently on the roster in the QB room, but it is almost guaranteed that Lincoln Riley will add one quarterback to the room via the transfer portal. Howard would be a great addition as a player with four years of playing experience. The fact that Coach Riley flew out to personally meet with Howard demonstrates how highly he must think of him. This is all assuming we play every year with this schedule. And in the worst P5 division. Starting next year, the B1G adds multiple schools with better outulooks than us. Our division will be harder than it is now for the foreseeable future. Our schedule will probably never be easier. This team needs a s#!t ton to just be relevant. 1 Quote Link to comment

Guy Chamberlin
Again, I'm reminded that Northwestern went 1-12 in 2022 and followed up with a scandal that engulfed the entire athletic department. Less than a year later it takes a 7-5 record to a bowl game. It's hardly a great team, and I wouldn't say it got a s#!tload of talent in just one season, but Northwestern cut its turnovers from 30 in 2022 to 9 in 2023. Nebraska isn't far from doing that. They're a better quarterback (hard to get worse) and a healthier RB and WR core away from let's say, winning the Big 10 West. It will be a whole other tier to get competitive with Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, and Washington, but it's perfectly reasonable to expect improvement. 3 1 1 4 Quote Link to comment

Amazing things happen when you don’t beat yourself and play good special teams. 2 Quote Link to comment

Well I think Nebraska has been in the negative for turnover margin for a couple of years now. This year wasn't a fluke with turnovers. Out of 130 teams Nebraska lead that category of most turnovers. That blows my mind. 1 Quote Link to comment
