Anyone anxious for Martinez to come back?

Recommended Posts

I would like to see Martinez back in a few weeks at Minnesota to give him the chance to get back up to speed and work the rust off IF he's 100%. Would hate to see him reinjure that turf toe issue and be down the rest of the season. We're gonna need his leadership, experience, and feet in November if we're gonna have a chance at winning the Legends and making it to Indy.

Has there ever been a hot/cold QB like Martinez? The guy came in like a storm in 2010 and was the greatest thing since slice bread until he got hurt. Then he takes all sorts of heat from Husker Nation and then on top of that the whole A&M locker room and sideline thing happens. In 2011 his mechanics get questioned so he works on them in the offseason. Makes a head scratching play, then follows up with one that makes you want to pull your hair out, and finally with his back against the wall runs for 71 yards and takes one to the house. He got his character questioned by the media who has also wrote wonderful things about him other weeks. He's broken almost every QB record at Nebraska, but has never won a bowl game or championship. At the beginning of the year a lot of us were happy about having him as a 4th year starter and excited then when he goes down so many fans decide to kick him. I want to see him come back and get two out of the three: 1. Beat Hoke in the big house 2. Big Ten Championship 3. Win a bowl game. Just would like to see him go out with a bang and win something here.

I believe that the offense as a whole takes on the personality and tends to play like its leader. The picture is larger than simply looking at the individual abilities of TM, TA, or RK3 and making a choice.

.....and when I think about it that way, no....I am not anxious for Taylor's return. I've really enjoyed watching the team over the past few weeks. The offense feels more like the Nebraska football that I know and love. It is far from perfect, but I'm finding myself far less frustrated with the offense than any time in my recent memory.

There were plenty of frustrating moments today. But we were playing such an over-matched opponent that it didn't matter much.

Agreed. There's some serious straw grasping going on.

I think that immediately we need to remove the long-passing game from the Tommy Armstrong playbook. Wait until he proves he can hit those targets consistently before we turn him loose again. Ohio State did it with Braxton Miller his first year.

Why didn't we see more Option with Tommy? The kid just seems to get Option football. But no, let's turn him into Joe Friggin' Montana out there. Beck's decisions leave me scratching my head. A lot.

I think it's good that we tried that in a game like this. Obviously he's way overshooting receivers, but what bothers me more is my misjudgment of our receiver's ability to get the ball. You always tend to exaggerate the ability of your own guys but I think I was way off...these guys are nothing special compared to the players on any other top conference team.....certainly no Biletnikoffs out there. I think you're right that we need to run a more ball-controlled and manageable offense that fits what we can do well. Armstrong is capable of throwing over the top but I doubt you want that to be the main plan. Really the same applies no matter the quarterback.

Surely your sarcasm button is on the fritz............

Which receivers (outside of Abredaris) would you happily swap for Quincy and Kenny.....??

TM is not the same guy he once was.........

I'm anxious for him to come back. But only if he is a threat to run. If he is not then I think the offense runs better with a different QB who is a threat to run. If Taylor doesn't have that threat then he's pretty ordinary. For the record I want him to start over TA but only if fully healthy...... We have a bye and maybe the Minny game could be for him to knock some rust off or get another week of rest. turf toe is the worst...
