In the name of Matt Davidson, we can do this, people. Who's Matt Davidson??BC is making a joke about all the people call Matt Davison by Matt Davidson. It's very similar to Jason Peters and Grant Winstrom. 1 Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
meh..........your splash hire will have to be the HC, before you get great assistants...........usually. Quote Link to comment
Hedley Lamarr
meh..........your splash hire will have to be the HC, before you get great assistants...........usually. Keith Williams is a fantastic AC, Bray is a fantastic AC. Stewart is stockpiling talent for DBs. Cavanaugh pulled in a damn good OL class. I see a lot of damn good ACs on this staff. 4 Quote Link to comment
Stumpy1
There is a pretty good story about Parrella on 247. I think he is a throwback coach that will instill toughness and the nastiness that we have been longing for. Sounds like his guys at NMU really liked playing for him. Quote Link to comment

BoNeyard
Great hire! Excited about this one. Has experience and Husker ties, you can't argue with that one. Quote Link to comment

You're so predictable that Riley could have gone and hired anyone and you would have said the same thing. Quote Link to comment
Hayseed
Really? It's not Angus McCorn?Parrella sounds good to me. I think things are looking up...only time will tell. Quote Link to comment

In the name of Matt Davidson, we can do this, people. What on earth do either of these mean? The first one is DB's response to people questioning if Parrella can recruit. Basically saying recruits will listen to him because of his NFL experience. The second is apparently responding to people who can't spell Parrella correctly. Quote Link to comment
Enhance
Out of curiosity, would some people feel the same about this hire, or significantly less-thrilled, if he had zero Husker ties? (Disclaimer: I don't hate or love the hire - just in a wait and see mode, and hoping he does great). Quote Link to comment
Mavric
I don't think I'd like it very much if he didn't have Husker ties. Though I'm not sure how to balance NFL experience with no major college coaching experience. The biggest question mark is can he recruit which is why not having major college experience would be a whole different ball game. But the thing that makes this a good one is he can sell Husker Football like few others can. So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on the passion side of things and thinking this is a good way to go. 4 Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Having a lot of NFL experience essentially means nothing to high school recruits. DB is clueless in this regard, imo. The things that make a great recruiter are good connections/relationships with high school coaches to get the "in", and then good people skills and sales pitch ability to close. Those can play out in very different ways, but, "Pay attention to me because I played in the NFL" doesn't really resonate. Quote Link to comment

Now if that's all you have, youre right. But if you can add the NFL experience to the things you mentioned, you're going to be a star recruiter. Quote Link to comment
