I'm surprised that everyone is quick to say he should lose his job. In the real world this might happen if driving was a requirement of the job, but in not many other circumstances that I'm aware of. Poor judgement - yes. Needs help - yes. Gets fired - seems a pretty dramatic move to me.

 

 

 

When your job involves being a public ambassador, an educator, and a mentor to young men, it's a different scenario and our football program can not in any way endorse this wreckless behavior or send a message that we disapprove, but we're not going to make you suffer any consequences.

 

Fair enough. I guess there is still some gray in it for me based on not knowing the entire story. I don't doubt Riley will do right by Williams and the team. Do we know how long ago the other 2 DUIs were? Also, what ended up happening with the USC coach that had similar issues this year?

Do as I say, not as I do is the lesson I guess? How does Riley look a kids parents in the eye, and tell them he is their to protect them if he allows a drunk to run the halls of the program.

 

Like Coach Riley, but the door has to close quickly on this. No excuse, no reason could be given for him to keep his job.

Honestly, my bigger fear (based on where he was arrested) is that he was out w/Lewis' coaches or something. Not only would the loss of his job be a no brainer, but I'd think it would hurt our team with the NCAA.

Would be hard for me to send a child to play for a coach that has 3 DUIs. I don't know how he survives this one.

Remember this is the car Erin was riding in when it was struck by a DUI driver.

 

Thankfully Erin is still with us. Other families aren't blessed with the same outcome.

Was he convicted of the other 2? Unsure if NE has reciprocal agreements with other states, but a 3rd conviction might be a felony and be mandatory jail time. I wonder when the last ones were.

 

The sad thing is DUI's are preventable. Don't drink and drive.....

 

It will be interesting to see how NU handles this. We just can't seem to get out of our own way.

I think at this point it's safe to assume that he will lose his job. The university can enter a plea agreement but not sure if they will in this case for a third offense.

different situations, Sarkisian had a drinking issue that was noted back to his time at Washington and had several public appearances of intoxication, as well as accusations of being drunk during games. I don't know KW's entire background, not to say he couldn't be canned either, but as far as news/information gathered these are apples and oranges scenarios.
