I've had this discussion with some of my Hispanic friends here locally. They better be ready to be the new oppressors/white people. Because they're going to get grouped in just like the Italians eventually did.

I don't doubt it

those injustices are still allegedly holding back black people today, despite them having every freedom white people enjoy.

This sentence is entirely untrue. We haven't eliminated discrimination, and continually claiming we have is pretty scary.

It's this kind of ignorance that makes it essential to teach the things you claim don't need to be taught.

You're never going to completely eliminate tribalism on an individual level. Some sort of tribalism, while as insignificant to most of us as it's ever been, is always going to be relevant. And that's not exclusive to white people. You don't think black business owners might lean towards hiring people that look like them? That think like they do? You don't think black folks might give the benefit of the doubt to someone that looks like them, moreso than they would their white counterpart? The ignorance comes in thinking that you're ever going to completely eliminate that sort of tribalism, and thinking that this particular brand of benign tribalism is holding back an entire race of people.

No, the ignorance comes in claiming there's no need to educate children about it.

You've just given a very good explanation of why your previous statement is wrong.

Where I take issue with it, is when teaching about civil rights events, turns into commentary on how much you believe (opinion)  those injustices are still allegedly holding back black people today, despite them having every freedom white people enjoy.

Do you actually believe that the injustices against black people in the past no longer have any bearing on black people today?  Do you think it is all a level playing field now? Why do you think this?

We all know how whataboutism and "both sides" works.

Yes, it's a ban of books that contain certain language.

Fortunately, Wisconsin's Dem governor will probably veto this bill, so unlikely to actually become law.

What books are being banned?  You’ve still not answered the question?
And if their are any, are they banned just from school? banned from being in the entire State?  Banned from being taught but not from the school library?

Please let us know.

BTW…calling both sides crazy means both sides are crazy. Kinda how that works.  Comprehension my friend, Comprehension.

This is an interesting comment when potential black business owners have a harder time getting credit to start the business so they could potentially hire people that look like them.
