And it is still a superior gig compared to UCF. We have elite facilities, fan support, life skills, tradition etc etc etc.

To even try and argue that your school is a superior gig to that is asinine when you are a group of 5 school. I can admit USC, LSU, tOSU are better gigs that NU in the grand scheme of things.

On a side note I am so sick and tired of these headlines saying "Frost says talks with Nebraska are false" etc it takes what was said and makes it sound like he turned it down. That is completely out of context and lazy journalism

Totally agree with everything, especially the twist the media is putting on what frost said

I've seen this argument several times and it doesn't make much sense. Even Benning thinks he might stay another year.

There's a very real possibility that UCF hits their ceiling this year and that's a New Year's Day Six bowl after winning a conference title. There's nothing else for them. They'll never make the CFP unless there are multiple three-four loss teams at the top and that just flat out isn't happening. And conference realignment wouldn't be a real possibility for several years.

Benning feels like his job is to prepare the masses in case Frost doesn’t come. He is pretty intelligent, knows that if Frost doesn’t come, it’s going to explode. He’s doing his damndest to try to prevent that is all.

Yeah, UCF is a good job but they’ve reached their cap unless/until they upgrade to the Big12.

The only reason he’d choose to stay there is because he’s waiting for a big job to open in the Pac12, which is admittedly a good fit for him. But I don’t think he’s going to stay another year at UCF and I think he wants to come home.

I'm a UCF fan that has been lurking on this board for several weeks. I usually lurk on the UCF & AAC boards as well. You can think I'm something else if you would like. A few things I thought would be helpful to share:

1) I'm from the East Coast, but I have always had an appreciation for people from the midwest, and y'all have one of the most reasonable, polite fanbases I've ever seen. I really wish that UCF had cooler headed fans and boards like this one. UCF fans still hate Louisville and others because of their fans and yours have been pretty level-headed and fantastic.

2) The main reasons why there is so much Nebraska hate on the UCF board is because UCF fans are afraid of losing our coach and being reactive to the Nebraska fans that have shown up. There haven't been many and they haven't been that bad, but the Rivals board is usually unmoderated and it only takes a few trolls and a few posts to prompt reactive posts much later.

3) TY for being kind to the UCF fanbase. Our fans are pretty young. I'm in my 30s and there weren't a lot of non-Miami, UF, FSU fans on campus when I was there. We are just building up the main core of our fanbase, so there aren't a lot of older fans to talk sense.

4) Most of us know that Frost is probably gone. Ignoring the Chip Kelly rumors, UF and Nebraska seem equally possible. UF has a lot of the advantages of UCF and then some and Nebraska is home. A lot of UCF fans don't understand the concept of home, so they attack the weather and lack of theme parks in the hope that Frost doesn't understand it either. I'm not convinced. I lived in the midwest a couple years and I understand the urge to go back, despite the weather. And I'm not even from there.

5) UCF is not a bad job, but our best hope is in Frost's hatred. We hope that he hates living in a fishbowl and remembers the boos and sees Nebraska fans trying to recruit him and wonders how long he could be there before they start recruiting the next guy. We hope that he loves being anonymous in Orlando, loves recruiting in his backyard, and loves the weather.

6) Many of us are aware of the fact that he has not denied anything. If he wasn't looking, he would say so. Only a handful are delusional enough to think that he's not looking around and is too inept to know how to say "I'm at UCF next year".

TL;DR: Y'all are nice, UCF fans are young, Frost is probably gone, we're not sure when.

On a serious note though, i do feel bad if we do take your coach.  Take all the history aside and what we were and what we want to be again.  And all we want to do is win man, and to take one of our own back seems to be the only way to do it.  Like i said, it does suck that we would need to take something so good and positive away from ucf to make that happen for nebraska.  Take away the football hype and nebraska is truly a great place to be.  I mean there are no white sand beaches but there is alot more to offer than just that.  Attacking a mans team is one thing but bagging on there home is quite another.  You seem like youve got a good head on your shoulder and you will see here that most of us on here are the same way.  We can get crazy in here sometimes but honestly its really more entertaining.  You want entertainment, if youve got a free few hours.  Read through the sock puppet thread, youll laugh for days on that one.

Thanks for the input.

What I got from Scott yesterday was everyone needs to chill out for two weeks and let him finish the season. He knows his options. He will decide at that point.

And if we are honest, we are a little bit jealous because UCF is having success and we are not.

We all have a pretty good idea how this plays out. Many here cheer for other teams in other sports where we've been on your side of the fence. It's not a great feeling know you have something you can't keep, to be distracted when you have a great season, or to know there are bounds on your success. The one thing I would say in response to you...enjoy the moment. Your team is having a fabulous season, the players are making the most of it. Have fun with them. Special seasons don't come around every day.

I feel like George O'Leary has already taken UCF as far as they can go just a few years ago with the Fiesta Bowl.  He built up that program, but had a really bad final year.  The best Scott Frost can do is just match him.  The Big 12 won't seriously consider adding anyone until 2024 to 2025 when their tv rights expire.  Even then, they probably won't add any teams because there aren't any non-power 5 teams besides Notre Dame that are worth adding to cut into the 10 schools' share of the pie.  They aren't going to add any new teams that don't average at least 50,000 or more to a game.

There's no reason to feel bad if Frost leaves. We got way more than we bargained for and he has been professional and fantastic in every way. Even if he left this week and we lost every game from here on out, there's no place for us to complain.

The truth is, almost all UCF fans would rather see him at Nebraska than UF. Guy wants to go home and raise his kid near grandparents, who can fault him? But if he goes to UF, then it feels like he's more of a mercenary than we thought. We were just a stepping stool to a better program.

With Nebraska we can say, "He really wanted to stay here, but grandparents..."

The idea that a cartel decides who gets to win, they have to be from certain conferences to get into the playoffs, and that forces the top players to turn down schools in the bad conferences to be able to play for a "winner", making it impossible for the wrong conferences to recruit..........is what gives us the current state of American Idol football where only the singers from the southeast have a chance to win if the cartel doesn't want to cause a mutiny and lose all the ad revenue that allows networks to have 3-hour political shows and shoe companies to steer top players to the connected coaches in exchange for secret shoe deals.

They seriously need to get an underdog in there before this whole thing blows up in their face and people find better things to do. Probably the easiest way to accomplish that without being obvious would be to expand the playoff to 8 teams. With that said, ............does Frost wait for that 8 team playoff, hope for a lucky break this year, or move to a major league conference?

I agree.  If he chose Nebraska it would be family, alma mater, nostalgia.  Here is to hoping you guys can get to a place where you have history and guys feel drawn to come back to Orlando some day.
