stargazer
Whose best equipped to premier the Scott Frost offense at Nebraska? Gebbia, as much as I love him didn't run much in high school. POB ran quite a bit... Bunch ran quite a bit in JUCO. Darlington, can he take a hit? 1 Quote Link to comment
chamrocck
I think Gebbia gets a real shot. Gets the ball out quickly to guys in space. I think we also need to show much more at RB. Will Tre Bryant be ready for a full season? Quote Link to comment
Hans Gruber
This offense doesn't require a mobile QB. Look at Chip Kelly with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. Nick Foles, a lead-footed pocket passer if there ever was one, had his best season under Kelly that year. Foles started 10 games and threw 27 TDs and just 2 INTs. The Eagles went 10-6 and won the NFC East. A mobile QB is a nice luxury to have but not a necessity. You need a smart and accurate QB that can make the proper reads pre-snap. Although a guy that can do those things and also run a 4.5 40 makes things even easier. 3 Quote Link to comment
brophog
Shouldn't we let him sign first? 1 Quote Link to comment

A mobile qb is central to Frost's run-scheme. This isn't just Kelly's offense brought to UCF and what Kelly did in the NFL doesn't change what Frost wants to do in college. Yes Frost can work around a qb that can't run option but to say a mobile qb is just a luxury is off-base since it does present a schematic compromise. BIG ERN
Gebbia would have the upper hand on Lee and POB....those two can't hack his offense IMO. Juco vs Gebbia for the starting spot next year is my guess. 2 Quote Link to comment
Crusader Husker
Terry Wilson? 5 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Kai Locksley from IWCC and Joe Burrow as a possible grad transfer from Ohio State may be a couple more options. Quote Link to comment

This looks pretty accurate - it seemed Gebbia was great at reading NU defense in the spring game and there is a lot to be said about making quick reads and passes. His biggest downfall was size and maybe the long throw - but shouldn't be an issue next season. There will be a good chance 2 of our 3 QB's leave and i see a Juco and a Grad transfer coming in to compete - making it a 3 horse race. If the grad transfer or Juco are a complete home run (#1) on most boards then i only see 1 coming and then we have a 2 horse race. Should be Juco and Grad transfers all over the country wanting to come here if we can sell that we will have an offensive line. Quote Link to comment
PasstheDamnBallGuy
Is there some secret tape of POB that I dont know about. People seem awfully quick to write him off when all we have to go off of is a single half or football where he actually looked pretty good considering. POB absolutely fits very well in a spread offense that runs some read option. Gebbia seems like a very good qb but it would take a little bit of adjustment to what Frost currently runs to fit him in the offense. Quote Link to comment
Xmas32
I'm still oddly bitter for no good reason about the Joe Burrow thing. Man, he would've been a perfect QB for Frost's system. *shakes fist in Tim Beck's general direction* 2 Quote Link to comment

ColoradoHusk
I know the thread is about QBs, but I’m excited to see Jaylin Bradley operate in a spread system. I also think NU needs to offer that RB out of Omaha North. Benning makes it seem like one is coming, but it hasn’t happened yet. Quote Link to comment
84HuskerLaw
i would think Frost would go recruit the best dam H.S. QB out there that can run the option and incorporate some Osborne offensive stuff into his UCF offense. If he doesn't get a strong run game in his offense, he will have trouble in the Big Ten. The one back running game is just too easy to stop. That said, I think Lee and POB can run some spread 'option' (I don't really feel it is right to call it option at all but I just hate it really). Frost likes to throw the ball and both Gebbia, POB and Lee seem to have the ability to throw short or long as needed. Quote Link to comment

Nick Gates is more agile than Tanner Lee...i want him as far away from a spread option as possible eeeeeeek Quote Link to comment
