  1. Right wing media is twisting the conclusions of the original paper and the revision. Also any news source using the term 'Wuhan Virus' loses all credibility instantly

  3. There are. But the only valid opinions are those based on facts. I can have the opinion the sun rises in the west. That doesn't make it so. The best thing we can do is listen to the experts, remain calm, continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing, and hope for a medical breakthrough.

  4. Trump has already placed the blame where he thinks it should be. The previous admin left us unprepared per his recent statements. Notwithstanding Trump has 1 been in office 3 years, 2 disbanded the pandemic response team, 3 shut down the office in China that Obama had established to monitor these very situations, 4 was slow to respond, 5 called it a hoax, 6 said it would be over in weeks 7 been the most useless 'leader' ever as a president in a major crisis 8 lives in a state of denial and invites his cult followers to follow him off the cliff 9 is exposing us to greater harm with his 'rosy forecast' of opening up everything by Easter 10 etc and etc

  5. Well, that doesn't seem right. Trump is always so precise with numbers. Remember his inauguration, where he didn't fudge the size of the crowds at all?

  6. Not much else football related. Some good comments about our chances. Most agree with the fans that if don't have it locked up by Halloween, it could be year 4 without a bowl.....Most do mention losing 4 games by a TD or less......Several mention their opinions are based on JD returning....And healthy AM 1.0 return.... Personally, that schedule is rough. Throw in a new DL, huge questions at WR, one proven RB etc and it could get rough. I am thinking 5-7......I did like this little comment. Have to agree... If the Huskers can pull six wins out of that schedule, with that roster, Frost should be a Big Ten Coach of the Year candidate. I like this one as well....... But if they do, they will have absolutely earned any bid they get. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/nebraska-football-will-cornhuskers-make-bowl-2020 This season will test he character and mettle of this staff and team.... Thoughts?

  7. G'Day so the title kinda says it all I am a 2nd year Cincy Uni student flying to Nebraska by myself for the Bearcats match in Nebraska and as someone who is new to the States and the game of footy I have some questions, please be fair dinkum: 1. Where is a good lively hotel area to stay preferably near some Frothy pubs(oh and preferably a hotel that has comp brekky)? 2. Is it a dry campus as far as pregaming? If so, wheres a good pub or Bottle-O near the Uni? 3. Cool stuff to sightsee in Lincoln? (for reference I like hiking and outdoors) 4. Any Ice hockey rinks near the Uni? 5. What is the night scene like?(I plan on getting so buggered off on Friday that I barely make it Saturday) 6. What is the "tailgate" scene like? I'm new to tailgating as its a Stateside thing, but I want a tailgate where I can walk up with an esky and some coldies, make a few friends, maybe skull a few and have a shoey. 7. What is the best area in the stadium for visitors? If it is all like back home in Straya I'll assume there's visiting sections or something Thanks for any feedback and I hope to see a new place in a few months after this Corona stuff goes away and I plan on bringing some of my Straya cuisine with me to Lincoln(Vegemite, Fairy Bread, Tim Tams, Kangy meat). PS, heres some fun vids for your trouble and sorry if it's vulgar, hoo roo!

  9. I'll explain my answer of firing them. If it were normal sick leave, under normal circumstances, I likely wouldn't even mention it to them or do anything. But with what the country is dealing with right now, I would have zero tolerance for either of the two possibilities. One, they are either gaming the system at a very vulnerable time so that tells me they're a lying POS. Or two, they really are sick and endangering other people, so they're either too stupid for me to want to keep employing them or they know better and don't care about the consequences of their actions. I don't see any other possibilities so they would be looking for their next job.

  10. See if they have a reasonable explanation. If not, what would you normally do with an employee who abuses sick leave?

  12. Please explain what this article is trying to say. To me, it's claiming the predictions are all BS because they didn't come true. But...the predictions are based on if governments did nothing to mitigate the problem. We all know they did. So, I fail to see how the numbers prove them wrong. Also, some of the numbers don't look right compared to the numbers of cases. There are 37,000 cases in NY with over 4,000 new cases yesterday. I'm guessing there are a heck of a lot more hospitalized than 2,500.

  13. This is what happens when mostly lobbyists write the bill, well over 800 pages, and then Congress votes on it mere hours later. Majority not having read the bill or have any real concept of what it says. Our elected officials are intentionally letting the wolves in the hen house with no care and us hens continuously vote for them to do so.

  14. So much about this whole situation pisses me off. In this letter, he brags about the intensive testing that is being done. There are people who are exhibiting signs and they are told they aren't going to be tested.

  15. Trump isn't personally in charge of the numbers of verified deaths that are feeding the different tracking sites. You don't have to actively try really hard to make every single thing about Trump every time.

  17. I can't imagine many people who would pretend to love Bernie, but don't. Publicly supporting Bernie these days comes with a risk -- you're branded a socialist or extremist or simply someone who is willing to let Trump get reelected. The non-Bernie camp was the safe place to be, even if you didn't have a candidate you particularly loved. But you are likely to find folks who said "Blue No Matter Who!" then decided it didn't apply to Bernie Sanders. It could also be great theater because the coronavirus has exposed pretty much everything Bernie Sanders has been saying for 50 years. He sounds more Presidential than Biden in a crisis, and shifted his well-organized and funded campaign to directly help the people affected.

  19. Sadly, I think this is correct. And I think we're going to see Trump wringing his hands in a few weeks talking about this terrible tragedy that's unfolding that we just couldn't do anything about.

  29. The number of people it matters to who aren't already decided to vote against Trump is very small. He has a 45% approval rating. It's gone up since the virus outbreak. That 45% is enough for him to win 2020 with good strategy and an advantage of gerrymandering. And those people clearly don't see or don't believe or don't care about the remarkably easy to point out ads/media showing Trump's incompetency.

  35. I feel like my opinion is rare, I'm going to vote Bernie in the primary, but I would for sure vote Biden if he was the nominee. I'm thinking my opinion just feels rare based on social media, everyone shouting at the top of their lungs at each other. The OMG you're gonna vote that commie Bernie, or OMG you're gonna vote that capitalist Biden. Theres even been many redditors on the Bernie sub that are saying they'll vote Trump over Biden - so people want progressive, but will vote not progressive just to stick it to candidate that's not as progressive as theirs? Long Story Short, I'll vote the more progressive of the candidates whether that be Bernie in the primary, or Biden in the general - and I don't understand people and probably never will.

  38. I'm a doctor at Nebraska Medicine. Here's what I'm telling my family about COVID-19 By Daniel W Johnson, MD, Nebraska Medicine critical care anesthesiologist Published March 17, 2020 <snip> If anyone hears from family or friends who think this is “no big deal,” or that the USA’s response has been excessive, please know that they are very wrong. I’m sure you have all read about the many reasons that this is NOT “just like flu.” The numbers of infected, worldwide and in the USA, are extreme underestimates (because many infected have not been tested). The best metric to use, right now, is talking with hospital workers in the hotbeds, and asking them what their situation is. I have been in communication with a friend who is a critical care physician from the Lombardy region of Italy. The health care workers there are living in a nightmare, having to decide who lives and who dies from lack of oxygen because their health care system is overwhelmed. LINK ================================================== An article from last week. Seems very relevant though.
