  1. @Gorillahawk And Martinez seemed to have little trouble finding Stanley Morgan on deep balls in his freshman year. Kinda funny how the problem started when Stanley left, huh? But a lot of people here prefer the explanation that Verduzco cast a voodoo mind control spell on Adrian to turn him into a terrible QB.

  2. Just the way the Big Ten does things is not a good reason for how they do things. The way they continue to be short-sighted and lack any creativity is maddening.

  3. trump had a year to eff this whole thing up, and did nothing the final two months of his failed era. The pandemic is an unchecked wreck because of it. This stooge Drew Holden says nary a peep about trump's last two months of failed leadership, but now he's all over Biden for telling us the reality of the situation 72 hours into his Presidency. Seems legit for the outrage machine.

  6. yeah but they all got a “free” year as well. They still have 3-4 yrs left in the program depending on status. If NPG can be a monster on special teams and get some decent reps this year (using him as an example) he’ll still just be a soph in 2022 if my thinking is correct. so, we have 9 of 11 starters back for a magical 6th yr let’s call it. All the younger guys are still young thru next year and moving into 2022 will STILL have 3 yrs to play. Can’t lose unless the amazing portal sucks them in. the converse would be if 7-8 guys hung it up after this BS covid year and we have to start guys who are actually true soph/redshirt players. Instead, we have a returning nucleus that can play as 5-6th yr dudes and a full stable of younger guys that are competing every day. and don’t forget who our offense is practicing against. It’s not 1 v 1 everyday but if the offense has to practice against the 2’s, which consist of players who may have been starting...well it’s a win win. guys coming back on the D side of the ball is so good for the whole team. Especially since the younger guys didn’t lose a year.

  8. I have said this since Luke has been here. Taysom Hill. Had a great Soph campaign. Threw for almost 3k and rushed for 1300...........A ton of season ending injuries really put a damper on his numbers. BUT in the NFL he has excelled as a jack of all trades. QB, receiver, RB, punter and special teams. I am no QB guru, but Luke does appear to have some promise. A lot of ups and downs. Issues on some long throws, some INT's etc...But AM has issues as well. I think he is our most dynamic player on the field. Even more so than Wan'dale. Now with Wan'dale gone and possibly him, our O will look like it did with JLo. AM runs, AM throws, AM runs again. Pretty easy to stop....I'm hoping he stays. Seems like a gamer. Again back to Hill, Luke could be that guy. A threat to make a play from any skill position on the field. Frost needs to use this to his advantage. Much like Payton at NO. He knows what he has in Hill and exploits the hell out of D's with his use....Frost could stand to watch some of the Saints games and how they use Hill....Luke is the type of athlete that Frost needs to find a way to get touches during the game.

  11. Your full of s#!t if you believe Arthur Anderson was prosecuted faithfully and in good conscious for the Enron scandal. And whatever happened with WorldCom has nothing to do with Enron. It’s like saying, well this guy was wrongfully convicted for murder and went to jail but he would have been there anyways because of his conviction for tax fraud 3 years later so it’s ok. Person A works for Arthur Anderson on Monday. Company goes under Wednesday. Person A loses job. That’s called a lost job in the real world. In your fantasy land it may not be but it is. l take it in your version of reality, all these Covid lost jobs aren’t really lost jobs because those people will be employed again at some point? LOL Person A may get employed the following week, the following month or the following year. That would be a different job after losing the original job. It’s a disruption for the employees and the families of the employees to lose a job un-expectantly. Maybe the lived paycheck to paycheck. Unreal

  12. Here's a newspaper clipping from 1919 for "The Nebraska Aggies - University School of Agriculture" showing players and coaches with names: https://www.newspapers.com/clip/14039876/ If you view the full page, there's also an advertisement for a Nebraska vs Kansas homecoming football game. If you're curious, we won that game 19-7.

  17. I mean that is not what was promised to GA voters. $2000 checks is what was told to them. This was after the $600 was already passed. Its slimy any way you look at it and people will feel lied to. And thats why democrats lose.

  20. How many of those vaccinated work in facilities that can easily administer a vaccine? How many of those vaccinated are incredibly high risk and eager for a shot? It's going to get a hell of a lot harder to vaccinate 1 million Americans in any given day when you are trying to get the general public at large to do this. You are fighting exponentially more complicated logistics, peoples' work schedules, accessibility concerns, and perhaps biggest of all, the apathy and beliefs of the American people. Let's set aside the tens of millions of anti-science and political cultists and use me as an example. I'm 29 years old, work M-F 8-5, haven't seen a doctor since I was 18 because I have zero health concerns, no one I know has had even minor complications from the virus, and I've welcomed contracting Covid just for the break from work. I'm not afraid of this thing at all. How do you convince me to get the vaccine? I believe that I will be just fine without it and don't particularly care to use my limited free time or PTO to go do something I don't have to. Are you expecting me to get this shot TWICE just to help some faceless people? I will be getting the vaccine when I can, because I do understand the importance despite lack of personal fear of the virus. I imagine it will be relatively easy whenever that time may come, given that I live in the Twin Cities. There will probably be several vaccination sites that are convenient for me. What about those who don't live in a major metropolitan area? How do you effectively roll this out to rural America given the specialized storage and transportation needs of the vaccine? How do you convince those isolated people to get vaccinated? I really wish you'd think critically about the issues we face as a nation instead of just spewing s#!t everywhere.

  21. The issue is letting transgender individuals participate as the gender they identify with, correct? I haven't followed closely and just want to clarify. I think it's a complete non-issue. There are going to be so very few willing to even try competing as women due to the magnified scrutiny of an already maligned identification, coaches/teams aren't going to accept them if the athlete isn't completely earnest in their endeavor, and I'd wager most don't make this transition until they are adults beyond any opportunity of athletic competitions. If someone bucks all of these, I say reward their bravery and let them compete.

  23. Self-styled militia members planned Capitol storming in advance of Jan. 6 - The Washington Post Sticking to "the plan" = there was a plan. Lol at anyone who still thinks Trump incited the riot with a fiery speech, when the fighting started long before the President was done speaking.

  24. I'd follow you, but Martinez has shown to be a good QB option in his freshman year. He's been TO prone, but none of NU's QBs have been particularly safe with the ball for about 20 years. McCaffery, IMO, has shown enough in his time as QB to know that while he's a good runner, he's limited in passing and pushing the ball down the field. Martinez has the arm strength and has a number of throws on tape that prove he can get the ball down the field. We have no clue about Smothers.

  25. Getting in office and realizing how totally effed trump's non-response is. Since trump's "team" wouldn't share any information with Team Biden I can totally understand that his task force wouldn't know just how bad it really was. No one said he was.

  26. Dems lack the fortitude to properly lead from a position of strength. It's why they're in the situation they're in, and largely why they keep electing the same failures of leadership.

  27. Well that puts Martinez and Frost in an even odder position. Does Martinez want to go through the hard work and unnecessary academic year to play two more full seasons? With three years as a starter under his belt, does Martinez have any realistic shot at the NFL? And to my original point, McCaffrey was praised for winning a game with modest Martinez-like stats. Then when he lost a game with bad Martinez-like stats, we went back to Martinez. Who was, in fact, the better quarterback. But he also had three years under his belt in Frost's system. We seem to think Martinez can clean up his errant downfield throws, occasional bad decision making, and turnovers in his forth season as a stater, but we're also declaring freshman McCaffrey a washout who can't be expected to correct similar deficits. Do you give Adrian Martinez a fourth and fifth year to become a competitive Big 10 quarterback, while not allowing a McCaffrey or Smothers the same mistakes or learning curve?

  28. My biggest problem isn’t environmental. I have a real problem with a foreign government and company taking land through eminent domain with the help of our government but very little to no benefit to our country because the vast majority is just going to be exported.

  30. I think part of the problem is how us Husker fans have had this conversation. I think we make it a binary thing where there are only two choices: 1. We do have really good downfield threats. 2. We don't have really good downfield threats. The more I watched Levi Falck play this season, the more I felt like he's a pretty dang good athlete. Same with Alante Brown. But I mean...those guys aren't Maurice Purify or Stanley Morgan, at all. Point is, part of the conversation is about how much of a threat our wideouts really are, because that also changes just how defenses scheme you on the line of scrimmage, etc., etc.

  31. No staff changes. Friendships are more important than winning to Frost. Im done with him after this season if its the same ole s#!t. I would have given him more time if he would have made the nexessary staff changes, but he dug his own grave with this one.

  32. I mean, there was a post in this thread that shows that's not the case. Or, at least shows he was pretty good in 2019 - there isn't any reference to how anyone else did, but I don't think you really have any evidence to support your claim either.

  33. I should have added that the show is definitely designed to be mysterious. They are teasing a lot of things that won't be explained until later. I think everyone is supposed to be confused as to what is happening. So just a basic background should be plenty to get people going. It will be interesting to see if a lot of the Easter eggs from the comics end up having much to do with the actual plot or they are just throwing that stuff in there because they can.

  34. Including his (soon to be former?) head coach. If he really wants to stay at QB, I could see him landing at a G5 school on name alone. On passing ability, probably more FCS. Was Justin Fields in a losing/dispassionate/apathetic environment at Georgia? Or Joe Burrow at Ohio State? For most guys, wins and losses really don't matter nearly as much as their personal situation. If a guy ain't happy being the backup, he's gonna bail no matter what.

  38. A president that actually recognizes the importance of science and having boots on the ground to combat global diseases is a necessary first step. Trump can blame China all he wants about Covid-19 and have a little point to it, but when you're the president of the United States and not taking steps to actually manage these novel diseases through researchers, scientists, medical professionals, etc. and not actively trying to be proactive, than what do you think happens when the next novel disease arises. Instead of our current mortality rate it's 5 times, 10 times worse. Human history tells us it's not a matter of if, but when. If our leadership isn't taking that seriously, millions and millions of people could be the victims of that inaction. Frankly, it shouldn't even be a political issue. These diseases don't care if your republican, democrat, conservation, liberal. It'll kill ya all the same.

  39. Sure...which is masks and distancing. Jesus, what if that task force says "Don't worry about masks" (it won't happen, but good lord, is Joe going to back that?) We already know what they are going to say, so...
