  1. Refresher for those not up on gambling lingo A minus sign means you need to lay that amount to win $100. A plus sign means you need to lay $100 to win that amount. Betting Iowa over 7.5 at -135 means if you bet $135 you would win $100 dollars (total of $235 returned to you) Betting Iowa under 7.5 at +115 means if you bet $100 you would win $115 dollars (total of $215 returned to you)

  4. I understand this. Beating divisional teams is the next step for Nebraska. Unfortunately for them, the best teams in our soon-to-be eliminated division just so happen to be some of the best developmental programs in the country. Nebraska is unlikely to do it at their level - few teams do, with the exception of Utah. What Nebraska can do is field more talent to make up for it, something they are on pace to fail at given the current recruiting class.

  6. Nebraska has the 4 and 5 star talent you crave, meaning we've signed more 4 and 5 star players/transfers than most of the teams in the Big Ten for years, consistently being in the top half of the conference based on the stars... Ratings don't mean jack without development which is where we have regrettably lacked since Bo was head coach. I'd much rather have several 3 star athletes who develop into great players than 4 & 5 star guys who flop. Keelan (topic of this thread) represents a great opportunity where the coaches can mix and match him around, similar to how they are handling AJ Rollins. Doesn't matter that he's a 3 star as he appears to be a talented player and will hopefully find the right fit once he gets to campus.

  7. You're focusing on the wrong thing from my view with your emphasis on 4 and 5 star kids being the key metric. The last time we had a winning season was six years ago. We shouldn't worry about the Ohio States and Michigans of the world when we're not even beating the Minnesotas, Northwestern and Wisconsins of the league. Until August, we'll just have to hope and trust that the coaching staff knows what they're doing and not get hung up on what the "experts" rate 17-18 year old young men. Back to getting this discussion on track, beyond being a legacy and having the physical presence, I like this commitment as it further strengthens our ties to Kansas City. Again, nice addition to the program.

  8. Agree with this. I have said for years finishing 19 or 23 in recruiting is not getting it done. I think Rhule will continue this trend for a couple years but what will change is if he wins and shows player development getting guys to the league. Previous staffs failed miserably in this regard. He has to correct that and then the recruiting will be a byproduct of that success where we start reaching top 15 classes consistently and finishing seasons rankled with winning records.

  9. Nebraska has not recruited well, in my opinion, over the last several years. People focus too much on the final class ranking number - finishing with the #24 class for example - without realizing that's not much different than the class that finishes at #45 or #50. The difference is class size and one or two 4* players. Nebraska is going to have to both develop players like Rhule has done AND acquire high end talent. Nebraska isn't just competing with Ohio State and Michigan, but with the elimination of divisions they have to contend with the recruiting prowess of USC and Penn State as well.

  16. While I understand your focus on the recruiting prowess of Ohio State & Michigan, at this point we need to focus on finding the players that will make us a winning program again. We can't worry about winning the conference if we can't even win our division. We've been excellent recruiters on paper for too long, at this point we have to trust that the coaches know what they are looking for in a player and can develop them. Keelan's ability to fit multiple positions is a great snag as the coaches mold the program. A lot of upside with him right now, I like the possibilities.

  19. Hopefully Rhule continues to develop guys like he did at Temple & Baylor because this class so far has been underwhelming and that Spring Game looked alot like the last 6 years. This board is about to find out Nebraska is a very hard place to win at.

  20. This is pretty much what is said every year about every mid 3* recruit. I genuinely hope that this kid is a good player, but Nebraska needs to finish their class with 40% (or higher) blue chip recruits. Those are 4* and 5* players. They need to finish with 8-10 of those players every year. This is just to have a roster that is still vastly inferior to the top of the conference, but it should give Nebraska a punchers chance. With six total commits and one 4* player, Nebraska is behind pace. I agree with you there. Rhule and Co are getting to the point where they need to land the two California players, land at least two of the highest rated in state recruits, and find two or three more 4* players elsewhere. They absolutely have the ability to do it, but hopefully they do it soon.

  24. Why Ron, Ted, Lesley, Jim, Kevin? Its not like you'll read them or acknowledge any of the facts whatsoever. For some reason it continues to amaze me how willing you are to continue to ask for that which you never provide for any of your "regurgitated FAUX talking points. Start by explaining any legal repercussions from the below. Then if you can handle that we can discuss the packing industry, their union busting methodologies, and their exploitation of illegal immigration. Beyond that we can go into the construction, migrant farm, and trucking industries. Speaking of homework, if I were you I'd spend some time studying idioms. I think you can "puke out statistics," or "pluck them out of thin air," but "puking them out of thin air" would be quite the feat. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/08/trump-organization-undocumented-workers https://time.com/4465744/donald-trump-undocumented-workers/ https://www.chicagotribune.com/nation-world/ct-undocumented-immigrants-trump-20190208-story.html

  25. I know you desperately need this to be true. It's easier to try to attack a contrarian than to look at the mire of your own beliefs systems. To the most recent and brought up by one of your Thought Leaders - Rittenhouse was found, substantiated by video, to have acted in self defense. One of men who attacked him was a serial pedophile. Another a domestic abuser. And no commentary to those facts. Just abject name calling and lazy ad hominem attacks.

  29. It's my ring! It was my Uncle Shot's. He was Assistant Athletic Director for HuskerVision when he retired 2018. I've been asking him for it since he first showed it to me some 27 years ago. He's got 94 and 97 NC rings, and all the conference championships rings from 94 on. The 95 ring rocks like sweet awesome. Now I'm hounding him for the other 2.
    1 point
  30. So whose ring is it? Don't they have a name/number etched into them? Or wasn't that a thing in 1995? Also, it is totally weird to wear a championship ring out in public from a team that you weren't apart of and didn't earn.

  32. You certainly have some strong opinions!

  33. I guess you can put it on display in your home, but it's especially weird if you are wearing a championship ring, for a team which you had no part of, out in public. You may think it's perfectly normal, but I think most people would agree with me. In fact, most players who earn championship rings keep them in a random box in a desk at home, and some of them end up selling them if they are in need of cash. If you are wearing it out in public, you are doing it to draw attention to yourself. So, when someone asks you "hey man, cool ring, were you on the '95 team?" you have 2 choices. You can be honest, which draws questions of "why do you have that ring then?", or you can lie, which makes you look like a bigger d-bag.
    1 point
  34. So what should I do with it since I didn't earn it?
    1 point
  35. To me, a championship ring isn't Husker memorabilia. It's not like a jersey, or helmet, or signed football, A championship ring is a reward for being part of a championship team. You didn't :"earn" that ring, so I just think it's weird to buy a championship ring.

  36. It was a gift. Why would it be weird to buy Husker memorabilia?
