  2. Honestly I haven't been following the NY fraud case against Trump very closely until the verdict was reached. Other real estate business leaders have expressed concern at the ruling and even threatened to no longer do business in NY because of it. Being a cynic, I figured maybe they were corrupt. I have also read that some have testified that the accounting and evaluations were sound. If NY seized property today i would have been concerned with those actions. Now the appeals courts moves the bond down to 175M (less than half) and leaves the appeal open for reversal. https://www.cbsnews.com/video/appeals-court-slashes-bond-trump-civil-fraud-case-to-175-million/ Honestly, I do not have anymore trust in the judge and prosecutor than I do in Trump. Do they realize if they do not execute this justly it's going to strengthen Trump?

  3. Can we ALL just agree that this summer, when we have 10 hot days in a row, that there is not a bunch of posts here about global warming...because remember...ahhhh never mind. I have changed posters minds on abortion, on the death penalty and on guns...but even I know no minds are every changed about the weather. I am 100% that people have asked the mods to get rid of the fire emoji because of the environment.

  7. Why did the appeals court disagree with the amount? I am not an accountant or an appraiser. If he loses the appeals, fine. Skewer him. Did this trial have a jury? He has so many trials going on, I do not remember. If it's just the judge making the decision and punishment...ya, I'll wait and see. I don't mind Trump , or anyone in power, getting justice when they deserve it, but the court better be objective. It's funny how the media makes it a point to say whether a judge hearing a trail was appointed by a Republican or Democrat. No one trusts anybody anymore. It's all political. Maybe I needed to pay more attention to the trail so I can be as sure as you are that they got it right. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/25/nyregion/trump-bond-reduced.html David B. Saxe, a former judge on the appeals court that ruled on Monday, said that the court’s decision to short-circuit Ms. James’s collection efforts suggests that some of the judges were uncomfortable with Justice Engoron’s ruling. “My view is that the court indicates it has difficulty with the breadth of the lower court’s decision,” said Mr. Saxe, who retired in 2017 after 36 years on the bench, 19 of them on the appeals court. “They had other options available to them, and they issued a broad-based stay,” he continued, which he said suggests “that there is a view that they’re going to need to take a hard look at the lower court’s decision.”

  8. The broader country should probably also admit they just flat out hold the Democrats to a much, much higher standard, akin to what we should expect from intelligent, reasonable, functioning adults. Meanwhile Republicans get a pat on the back and a participation ribbon every time they get through a day managing to dress themselves and make coherent thoughts without crapping their pants or tripping on their own dicks. Allegedly serious people will strain themselves to admit this isn’t true. We should consider why that is.

  11. Because your schtick is always sarcasm, nobody can tell if or when you're joking. Please, for the love of God, tell me that you're not dumb enough to use the 10 day weather for your local city as proof for or against climate change. Because I don't know if you knew this, but 2024 has thus far been so catastrophic for the climate that the even the worst case scenarios are being blown past.

  12. He's not wrong. Democrats are fortunate that their Republican opposition is corrupt, rudderless, and devoid of principle. If Democrats want to be successful after Republicans emerge from being ravaged by Trump and the MAGA movement, they need to figure out a brand or politics that appeals to more than just white coastal college graduates. Toxic elements of the Democratic Party - including elements of toxic feminism, LGTBQ+, and whatever performative activism they're doing on the coasts - are being glossed over because the Republican Party has been overrun by crazies.

  18. But they don’t have to work on anything or solve any problems because the continued support of their base only requires rage farming. I’d say the problem isn’t the politicians but rather the people that continue to support MAGA. There is no R party separate from MAGA anymore.

  20. The bolded just demonstrates poor judgment. For what it’s worth, the damages amount are literally just equal to what it was calculated that the Trump Org fraudulently benefitted from with their shady math. So the court is asking them to give back what they shouldn’t have had in the first place. And people are suggesting that is unfair to Trump. Americans have collectively lowered the bar so far for this moron. It’s absurd.

  21. I just watched the press conf from 7 days ago, by HC Rhule. He did a great job. He answered the questions about Trev, his reaction, the University, his thoughts on being in Lincoln, the sports outside of football, his expectations and his excpectations for an AD having urgengy and a go-getter/hard worker (the presser was before announcing Troy Dannen). He did a great job and as expected, Rhule saved the day. He is so personable and intelligent and passionate about Nebraska. It's not fair they wanted answers and put it all on him though. I am glad the University of Nebraska got a new AD quickly. Will be good to hear his thoughts soon. So far it seems like an AD that wants to be here and Troy is an Iowa/Midwestern/Nebraska kind of guy. So that's good too.

  25. I'm not sure that I was disappointed at individuals specifically, but more so the team coming out with such a strong start the first day and then getting the reality checks in the quarters. There were some very tough draws so I don't blame anyone in particular. With half the lineup reaching AA status, that's an impressive feat alone. However, pairing that with finishing outside the top 5 is kind of a letdown. Whole lot of progress this year though and should have a great group returning. Hopefully the team can shore up a few spots and make a run at the title next year.

  26. In hindsight, the east stadium expansion was more of a mistake than this one, conceptually. Came about at the worst time right before two major factors. #1 being the nationwide trend of declining attendance due to better at home viewing experiences and #2 the beginning of our decade of suck. I know the price point and the timing for what Trev had proposed is simply too much after the new facilities, NIL ballooning and a future that likely includes collective bargaining, but the approach and problems this is trying to tackle are very well thought out to A. increase the fan experience across the board, B. give the AD more high level/suite offerings to make a good chunk of change off of, and C. keep the supply/demand equation of the sellout streak at a better equilibrium.

  28. Prime is such an a$$. The whole excuse about not visiting kids is absolutely ridiculous. This morning the radio was all about him now advocating for Shedeur, Travis, and Shiloh. He believes that Shedeur and Travis will both be drafted in the top four picks, but that they should only be going to certain teams, and they know which teams those are. When asked to expand on that and if he was referring to an Eli Manning type situation, he said absolutely. The local media, who has been d-riding him hard ever since he got to Boulder, were discussing if they think this is good for football or not, and even they are saying that his schtick is starting to get old. Some of them flat out expect him to leave Boulder as soon as his kids graduate (funny, that's what a lot of us on this forum have been saying all along), which is why he's trying to influence where they go in the NFL so much, almost like a package deal that could include him coming along with his kid(s). Yeesh, what a tool.

  29. Maybe. I know plenty of folks who like their Teslas, including neighbors on both sides of me. It could one of those year and make issues -- some later Model S's proved glitchy. I don't know what model my unhappy friends bought, but pretty sure it was the most affordable version. I know one of their issues was a constant rattle, which this article mentions. https://www.copilotsearch.com/posts/are-teslas-reliable/ Thomas Edison may have beaten the engineer Nikolas Tesla in the battle of electrical engineering in the nineteenth century. Still, in the twenty-first century, no name can come close to Tesla in the battle of electric cars. But is Tesla just coasting by on name power alone? Sure, the number of likes on any of Elon Musk’s tweets is reliable, and the sales figures are pretty reliable, but are Teslas reliable? Well, not really. At a time, Tesla cars, mainly the Model S, were considered the pinnacle of reliability. However, with a few more years of wear and tear on them and with production stepping up big time, the flaws in the armor are starting to show, and Teslas are proving to be less reliable than initially thought. How Reliable is the Tesla Brand? You would think that the company that holds almost a quarter of the market share for electric vehicles would have to make consistent, quality cars, but this is not the case. According to Consumer Reports, Tesla is one of the most unreliable car manufacturers. Only Lincoln fared worse out of twenty-six brands tracked in their surveys since the turn of the century. Hopefully, the increased competition will improve future Teslas or provide electric car buyers with more reliable options. Still, for now, you should be careful if you own or plan to buy one. Data from Consumer Reports’ survey indicated that Teslas are typically less reliable than other electric cars, such as the Hyundai Kona or Nissan Leaf, that cost significantly less. Fortunately, Tesla has made some notable exceptions to their warranty programs to address prominent issues with the Model S and Model Y, allowing owners to receive free repairs and refunding to owners who have already paid to fix the problems. What Are Common Tesla Problems? Some of these issues were so bad that the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) is investigating the need for significant recalls, and Tesla has expanded warranty coverage for them. Main Computer If you’ve ever seen the interior of a Tesla, one of the biggest things that probably stood out to you was the massive infotainment center in the middle of the dashboard. In addition to the rearview camera, navigation, and media controls, this touchscreen also houses the climate controls in Teslas. While many other manufacturers follow in Tesla’s footsteps with large touch screens in their cabins, few have committed so much importance to this screen. And in their top-notch Plaid performance version of the Model S, even the gear shifter is controlled by the touchscreen rather than a physical shifter, dial, or buttons. So when several owners reported this screen dying due to an issue with the onboard computer’s memory, it was a big deal. Tesla chose to issue their recall for this problem on the Model S and Model X before the NHTSA could force them to, so hopefully, the issue has been fixed for newly produced models. Air Suspension An air suspension can take an already luxurious ride and elevate it into a ride on four clouds, even on the roughest roads. And while it does an excellent job of keeping the Tesla insulated from the asphalt below, it is more prone to failure than a classic spring suspension. This issue can cause the wheels to scrape against the wheel well, possibly damaging the tires and making the car less safe to drive. Transmission System Issues The Tesla Model S is among the most popular Tesla models out there, thanks to its sleek design and high-tech features. However, Tesla’s luxury model has its fair share of reliability woes, including the dreaded transmission system problems. Several owners have reported that their Teslas are grinding, slipping, and hesitating while shifting gears. In some cases, the owners had to replace the transmission entirely, which can’t be cheap – especially when transmission issues are generally costly. Poor Build Quality Although Tesla’s popularity has skyrocketed over the years, people forget that it’s a tech company first and a car manufacturer second. Therefore, build quality issues are bound to rear their ugly heads for these all-electric vehicles. One disgruntled owner claimed that the Tesla Model Y had several build quality issues, including poor panel and bumper alignments and a shoddy paint job. Body Integrity Problems Not many people can stand it if their vehicles keep producing rattling noises. Apparently, many Tesla owners had to deal with rattling noises coming from their Tesla. Owners claimed they took their Teslas to the service center, but only a handful managed to fix the issue. The rattling was so bad that some people had to resort to DIY solutions.

  30. Interesting. I've had the opposite experience as have the friends I know with Teslas. Stuff going wrong will always sour people on any brand. And I've heard Tesla service is a nightmare if you do have something major wrong. No. I've had mine almost 3 years and only things I've done are replace the tires and refill the washer fluid.
