I start to worry when the basics can't even be accomplished by these players. Players couldn't even trap the ball from a pass directly to their feet, then giving up the ball. Drove me nuts watching the game and Bedoya trying to trap the ball wide open and it going 10 feet from his body giving it up.

Kudos to Jamaica though, that free kick was beautiful. The throw in goal was just piss poor goal keeping and marking.

Yeah, throughout this whole tournament there was just a little bit of energy missing in the US team's play. Except for Cuba, every other game it felt like the other team was bringing intensity that the US wasn't really matching. I was hoping as it went on the US would just kick into form...but they didn't, and finally got punished for it.

Harbaugh would get a free pass at 2-4!?! The stuff made up to excuse Riley is dumbfounding.

Michigan was predicted to have a 7-6 ish season by almost everyone preseason. Harbaugh would absolutely have a very cushy grace period even if his team was below .500

Are we comparing the team that went 5-7 to the team that went 9-4? Harbaugh's coaching has improved his team, Riley's has not. If Harbaugh was to have done worse than 5-7, he would have been given no free pass, much like how Riley shouldn't get one. .

Considering we had folks from the selection committee in attendance at the Nebraska/Penn State game (and the same folks at the Kansas game), I think as long as we either win or make the Michigan game come down to the wire (assuming they get by the Illinios/Iowa winner), we're in. 

Honestly, we should already be in as-is. We just don't have the name cache for basketball that other B1G schools have...but here's hoping this wasn't a one-year fluke again, and SMiles can actually build on this success for next year. 

I will say that I agree with the first part of not celebrating Osama's death but the rest of it he should have kept to himself.

Is Gil Brandt a known source of insider information? Prior to the Bielema rumor I don't know that I've ever heard his name.

Brandt is an old NFL GM and personnel guy. He is pretty in-tune with the coaching moves that go on nowadays.

I agree with you, X, and I feel the same. However, it affects the opinions of a lot of people. And the mounting embarrassment of successive similar leaks puts bad spotlight and pressure on the University. This is, of course, the strategy.

I don't buy the student athletes are all that matter. They're a big important piece of the puzzle but NU football entails a huge number of things, many very important also.
