  1. At this point, isn't it just easier to list who isn't going to be the Head Coach at Tennessee?

    1. TonyStalloni

No way am I answering an 865 telephone call anytime soon.

  2. If you're wanting to see a great DC Comics Justice League team up, make sure you're watching Crisis on Earth-X on the CW. It's a four show crossover, and it's more fun in its first half than the entirety of the Justice League movie.

    1. Cdog923

      Cdog923

I used to watch Arrow religiously, and kind of got into The Flash. Nowadays, I just watch the crossovers, so I've been looking forward to this one.

  3. Just a shout out to all the kids (especially Seniors) playing what is most likely the last game of the season. Thanks for giving your time to our beloved University, and here's hoping for success for you in the future.

I'm so proud of those guys!  They went through the Bo firing, the Riley hiring and bow his end but they kept fighting.  I'm especially proud of our home grown boys. You will be missed!

  4. Man...remember the time after Bo was let go when posters suggested we go after Richt at Georgia? And those posters were accused of abusing illegal narcotics by other posters?

    Those were good times...

Good coach.  Better than any we've hired since TO by a damn sight.

I remember all the arguments for why his success doesn't count.  They we never very convincing.

Yeah, I was one of those too. Mark Richt is a class act. I would’ve loved to have had him as our coach. But I’m hopeful that like Richt going back to his alma mater, Scott will come home to his.

  5. Any chance we could get a superthread that catalogs all of the superthreads on the board? I get tired head looking for each superthread on its own.

  6. The X is a legit beast of a console. Can’t wait to get a 4K TV this Holiday Season to stretch its legs...

Plus the beauty of the XBO:X is that it's backwards compatible, and they're even providing XBO:X upgrades to 360 titles (e.g. Halo 3, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion).

I highly recommend a XBO:X for third party console, online gaming, and MS exclusive titles. It's the most impressive system I've seen since when the 3DO dropped.

Good on the backwards compatibility. I remember feeling pretty hosed when Sony decided to not make their later run PS3's backwards compatible. Shameless money grub, IMO.

I'm personally holding out and going to try to grab a Switch this Christmas as well. But now I'm tempted to look at that...

For the rig, I specifically really nice monitor not too long ago that was Freesync capable because I was planning to put a Vega in this baby. But then that launch kind of flopped... Holding out to see if I can find one discounted around Black Friday.

    4. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

Perhaps get a 2K monitor instead with FreeSync? Not only will it work for your PC, but the XBO:X also outputs natively at 1440p (2K), and is rumored to support both AMD and NVIDIA monitor sync platforms in the very near future.

It was very well done—probably top three or four of all Marvel movies, easily (behind Avengers, Civil War, and maybe Winter Soldier).

Stinger sets up directly into the next Avengers movie to boot.

  9. Folks--this Bill Moos hire was/is vital. Not only are we looking at a new football coach in 2018, but potentially a new Men's Basketball coach, and even a new Baseball coach as well.

I dunno...I think it depends on if we make the NCAA Tourney again this year and how we do in B1G play.  And if we choke in the B1G/NCAA tourney again...I think you'll be seeing *at least* the assistants being looked at, if not Erstad himself.

We honestly shouldn't be having problems consistently being at the top of this conference for Baseball...

I am with MacNCheeze on this one.  it's just dang weird.  If you want to go to the game that's fine, but wear normal clothes.  Everything doesn't have to be Husker related.

  11. Last minute Halloween idea—put on a Nebraska shirt (and pants), and *BAM* instant “Disgruntled Season Ticket Holder” costume!

I dressed up in my Columbia Husker coat and 17’ sideline coaches hat and a chick (mid 20’s) goes “ooohh you’re dressed scary dressing up as a Husker fan” as here and three other dudes with here started to laugh hysterically.  If my son wasn’t by my side I was going to say “not as scary as you dressing up as a skank” haha

Ha. My daughter said a kid at her school (in Colorado) wore a Husker shirt as his costume...said he was a disgruntled football fan. No, she wasn't aware of this status update.

  12. The ultimate indictment of the Riley era is having to score a last-second TD to get an upset win against a 3-3 Purdue.

      swmohusker

Goodness people!  I think the Riley era is done but this was a solid win.  It was not a we are back moment, but Purdue is not a bad football team.  Like knapplc said they have lost some close games, and with the way they are playing they can play with just about anyone.

    3. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

The problem isn't that Purdue may be a decent team this year--it's that we have to say that we got a last-second upset win. That means Purdue played us evenly, and that that they were favored to win--two things that shouldn't be happening, period.

    4. STL Husker

      STL Husker

I think a bigger indictment of the state of the program is that our fan base can't enjoy a victory.  There is a difference between being critical and being negative.  With your mindset there was nothing the team could have done that would have left you with a positive attitude.  There are lots of reasons to want a new coach, but don't let a victory be one of them.

  13. Weird Al's Tour dates just dropped. No NE dates so far, but multiple dates for me in TX to go see him. w00t!

I got a chance to see him in CB during his Mandatory Fun tour, well worth the price of admission.

    2. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

@Judoka you may want to check this tour out then--no predefined setlist, no A/V or costumes, just simply Al and the band performing (mostly) B-Sides and originals in smaller venues. Think one half Unplugged, one half Storytellers.

  14. Why in the wide, wide world of sports are we spinning ourselves up over a former Free Safety from Stanford to be our coach? :ahhhhhhhh

  16. Our defense has given up 748 total yards and 23 total points the past 14 quarters (read: after the first quarter debacle at Oregon). That's 53 yards/quarter and only 1.64 points/quarter. Granted, the competition hasn't been the best...but this is pretty damn good considering we're running a new defensive scheme.

  17. So if we're playing on Friday, shouldn't we have CAPS LOCK Thursday instead? Or will you all be shouting at each other in the gameday thread?

  18. Are the corner A sections for Volleyball good seats? Haven't been to volleyball since the 90s, so I'm a n00b here.

    1. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

Or the lower A endline seats, for that matter. Looking at what's available on StubHub, taking kiddo to her first VBall game.

  19. Honestly, the best thing we can say about Eichorst's tenure is that he didn't f*** up the Volleyball program.

Outside of Volleyball I would say that was not a bad deal he got for us.

  20. Mods, could you please fire Riley and Eichorst so we can move on to aviation and flight-watching threads?

  21. Forgive my ignorance, but what's the best way to get good tickets for Volleyball? Gonna be back home next Friday, wanted to take the family to the Minny game.

Are they good seats though? And what's the going rate for scalped tickets?

    3. knapplc

      knapplc

Depends who's selling them, and what they're asking for. Face value is $20 for A&B Levels, $16 for C.

There really isn't a bad seat in the Devaney Center. It's big for a volleyball venue but it's no stadium. Even the upper C Level tickets give you a good view.

We need some comedy other than what we see on the field.

  23. Our defense has given up a total of 355 yards and 7 points from the 3rd Quarter of Oregon through last Saturday's NIU debacle.

Save for not making adjustments soon enough vs. Oregon in the first half, I'd suggest our defense isn't a problem here.

@huskered17 To be fair, though, the playcalling has been a problem since Riley's first game against BYU in 2015. And Illinois 2015. And Pur-f******-due 2015.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

I'd like to see that defense in a real test before I deem it not a problem. Oregon coasted the 2nd half and I wouldn't exactly classify NIU as a legitimate test of it. I want to think you're right but what I wanted to believe led me to thinking we'd annihilate NIU so I'm going to require concrete proof from here on out.

    4. Mavric

      Mavric

NIU played pretty conservative after we spotted them a 14 point lead.  They also missed several easy throws that had nothing to do with our defense.  When they actually tried, they scored easily.

      Far from convinced about anything.

  24. Hey...at least the defense only gave up 7 points and ~250 yards today to a potent offensive team. That's one of the few things keeping me from thinking this season is going to be a complete clusterf***.

I dunno about Diaco as HC, but it would be worth it to keep him and the defensive staff intact when we get a new HC.

      Danny Bateman

Yeah I jacked up the middle of that. Fixed it.

That's an interesting idea. It worked OK when we heldover Watson for Bo. Could make us an interesting landing spot for an offensive-minded HC...

Ironically I had 2 charges back to back about a month ago on one of my cards in the amount of $1.50.  I closed the account, but do be on the look out for incremental charges, often from the sort of place you "might" have been (tolls, restaurants, etc)

    3. VectorVictor

      VectorVictor

@NM11046 Very good point. They do that to test the proverbial waters and see if you're paying attention, then soak you with a large charge at a later time.

I've caught a handful of those, partially because I'm very anal when it comes to receipts and finances.

    4. RedDenver

      RedDenver

@VectorVictor It's not that you want to sue, it's more that the free credit monitoring is only for a year and doesn't account for any future damages.
