Huh, I didn't know Genesis has locations up in Nebraska these days. They're based in Wichita, and owned by the same family as Spangles, so I think of them as a Kansas thing.

For DirectTV I first contacted them on Twitter...then I DM'ed them...they gave me a number and ext.  I called and they already knew it was me and went right with a "Oh we have a new promotion, you can keep everything you currently have and we will knock your bill down to 44 a month"

Came out great!  I don't think the double brining did anything to it.  It was easy to slice and made some Rubens! 

Dang, didn't see this until now. But yeah, if it's a store-bought corned beef (pre-brined), then I just coat it in a spice rub and toss it on the smoker, no extra rinsing. Smoke it like you would a brisket, wrapping it in foil at around 160℉ and then cooking it until a skewer (or thermometer probe) can be poked through all parts with almost no resistance.

I've only had White Castle one time in my life. That was the night of my grandfather's wake, when us grandkids were hungry and our cousin drove us to White Castle for food.

Gotta love any burger they sell by the bag full.  WC’s are the perfect drunk food. I’ve only had them from an actual restaurant twice. Once in KC when a bunch of HS buddies went down for a weekend and Royals game. The other time was with my brother as we were driving from Chicago to South Bend for the Nebraska-Notre Dame game. I pick up the frozen ones probably more often than is healthy. Love those little greasy things.

I used to get them a lot, growing up in Chicago. My Dad looked into franchising one but they don't franchise.

Aren't the A (and maybe B) districts based on some formula of the prior 2 or 3 years computer rankings to try to keep them "even"?  I don't think they do them willy nilly.

IDK, that seems awfully haphazard. Back in the Stone Age when I went to Columbus high we always played Fremont, Grand Island, Norfolk And Hastings. And we would often play Lincoln East, Lincoln High and Benson. Kearney and Lincoln High are the only 2 in the same district now. I would say our biggest rivals were Norfolk, GI and Fremont. Seems strange that isn’t the case anymore.....almost 40 years later

could not reach my elderly father for a day or two when I was traveling for business.  Turns out his cordless phone had fallen into his the cushions of his chair. Deputies did a well check and called me back that every thing was ok.  

The running joke  between my dad and I until his death was "don't call the cops!  I know where my phone is!"

In college I had my apartment broken into over thanksgiving and several of my roommate’s items stolen...hdtv, xbox360, controllers, games and like 30 movies stolen plus his mini safe kept in his closet. Was definitely someone he knew who had come back into town for a couple weeks and left, our other friend had the same thing happen earlier in the week.

My roommate had left on Wednesday night m and I returned Friday night. The dead bolt key mechanism turned but I could tell something wasn’t right because I didn’t feel the dead bolt itself move and the door opened anyway to a shattered door jam and the rest described above. Was a very vulnerable feeling while trying to sleep that night before the landlord came to repair it the next day. 

That reminds me. Also had my car broken in to while at UNL. Stereo tape deck, amp, all cassettes stolen. I called the cops for that. Also my Yukon was broken into in Las Vegas in the Flamingo parking garage. Digital camera and video camera stolen. Uselessly called the cops for that. First thing they told me was that they were probably already in a LA pawn shop. Coupled with the fact that LVPD has separate property crime divisions depending on which side of the Strip your hotel is on, that let me know the only purpose for reporting to the police was to get the crime report for my insurance.

In 1982 we made the trek from Lincoln for the Auburn football game. On the way down we stopped at our fraternity at Mississippi State and spent the night. They were having their hell week when we were there. As you might expect the boys down south take their hazing pretty serious. A live goat was brought in to the house and the pledges were threatened with having to “do” the goat. They even made a big show of it by taking them into a separate room one at a time. Those poor pledges actually believed they were going to have to do it....of course they didn’t but the mental anguish was very real. I can still hear that goat bleating 

I remember in high school football, after the Thursday night dinner we'd all have ice cream with chocolate syrup for dessert.   The first dinner of the year we would always switch one of the freshman's ice cream with mashed potatoes.   Oh boy we got crazy.

Not much on my end, staying up late, doing some cleaning...stuff like that!
