  1. Ran into a guy at the hotel bar last night who had a Nebraska Blackshirts shirt on. I go up to him and asked him if he was from Nebraska fan, and he replied "actually I'm a Hawkeyes fan". I immediately walked away and almost threw up in my mouth.

Maybe he really was a Husker fan but embarrassed to admit it. Figured he was in Mexico so just pretended to be somebody else.

I don't see the conflict.  Iowa put over 400 yards on the blackshirts last year.  If I was a Hawkeye, I'd be a blackshirt fan too.

  2. Greetings from beautiful Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I may need to watch the Husker game this weekend on my phone, but it's well worth it

We are at the Barcelo Maya.  Great place and a lot of fun, if your fun includes pools, beaches, and booze.

  3. Oregon State's head coaching job just came available.  Will Riley want to go back to Corvallis for stop #3 there?

wish I could take that since he doesn’t want it.

Let's see how this season plays out. I think it's a tough one, but long term I don't think that's the case. Maybe it's not as elite as we'd hope and so he should go eventually, but it's not that bad either.

Anyway, this was more about OSU. People were abuzz about the Andersen hire. Every time they landed a 4* it was news. There was some argument that they'd do better without Riley. GA is now 7-22.

      ColoradoHusk

@zoogs are you watching the same games everyone else is?  NU isn't competing against any teams with a pulse, and also has the bad habit of losing to teams we shouldn't.

  4. Does anyone remember when Comedy Central was first launched, it was called Ha!

That was just a random thought that popped in my head this afternoon.

I remember when MTV launched, I was in college at UNL. Ah the good old days when they actually played nothing but music videos.

@Mike McdeeI'm with you. They are probably going to hire a very qualified candidate, who we know very little about.  But, it's not a one man search like the last one was.

It’s so obvious you guise. They talked to Trev and found out he doesn’t like Scott. Name removed from consideration.

  6. Ed Orgeron has a $12 million buyout if he's first in his first year at LSU.  That will get him some job security.

And I think he had a 5-7 year at Ole Miss his only previous experience as a HC . Orgeron has talent up the wazoo too.  DONU's cupboards were pretty bare.  We're not looking so bad.

  7. Tom Petty is about to go into the big concert hall in the sky.

@ColoradoHusk Unfortunately, as the site adds in rep from subsequent days, we can lose days we have already won. Looks like Mav overtook you and "won" that day now.

Yet we're 11 points from being undefeated in regulation so what's the universe trying to tell us?

    2. knapplc

      knapplc

But wait, it gets weirder - We're seven days from our fourth game, and 7+4=11.

      BUT IT GETS WEIRDER STILL!!!

      1hENbKJ.png

You last "won the day" on 4/11. And when you win it again it'll be your 11th time.  And your current Rep is divisible by four, and the last two numbers are 4 and seven, which adds up to 11!

      WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!

Did you vicariously grow a mullet this last year?

  16. I left at halftime and took my son golfing.  I enjoyed spending that time with him and following the comeback on my phone.  Too bad NU couldn't pull off the comeback.  I watched the 2nd half, and the offense had 4 straight empty drives and had good field position on all of them.

    1. funhusker

      funhusker

I spent the the 3rd and 4th quarter playing catch with one of my 2nd grade sons because he thought he should practice to be ready to help the Huskers when he gets older.....I didn't realize NU was in it until the very end.  But my afternoon was awesome playing catch and assuming NU was getting beat 84

      -28.

    2. RedDenver

      RedDenver

@funhusker My 1st grade son is just getting into the Huskers and football. He spent most of the 1st half telling me, "The other team scored again, Huskers are probably going to lose, huh?" and "The other team must have practiced a LOT more than the Huskers, right daddy?" Being a good parent is often an exercise in zen-like control of your emotions.

  17. Can we stop acting like Northwestern is a good team?  If NU loses to them it's an embarrassment.

Fitzgerald is a "great coach" if he can get 8 or 9 wins, yet most seasons he is at 5-7 wins.

    3. ColoradoHusk

      ColoradoHusk

Northwestern wins when the other team makes mistakes. Unfortunately for NU, that's the type of team the Huskers have been since joining the Big Ten.

Some guys are just better at the lower levels.  Gill did well at Buffalo, and flamed out at Kansas.  Maybe he realized he would rather be at a lower-level school and not have to deal with all the BS that coaches at the highest level have to deal with.

  19. Quincy Enunwa has been put on IR by the Jets. Sucks to lose a season, but at least he's getting paid.

  20. Guns N Roses concert in Denver was amazing last night. Slash still can bring it on the guitar, and Axl's vocals were way better than I expected. They put on a great rock n roll show.

Bummed I missed GnR with Alice in Chains at Arrowhead a while back. Sounded like an awesome show, but was too leery of Axl pulling his usual antics and not showing up or something. Glad to hear it was a good show.

Axl is a very good showman as a lead singer. Even way past his prime, he had a strong presence on the stage last night. I was expecting Fat Axl who wouldn't be able to complete a song, and I saw a 55 year old guy doing a pretty good job of rocking it for 3+ hours. He took a few songs off as the band would play instrumental covers, but he did a great job on the GNR classics.

I've been waiting 18 years to see Gn'R in concert, and because of my previous employer, I've missed three concerts I could have gone too. I just hope they don't split ways again before I get another chance. Looked like it was a great show though!
