B.B. Hemingway
You won't find an easier kid to root for. He is an exceptional human being, and leader. He's the first guy that I remember getting benched where it actually hurt my heart. Big fan, no matter what he does at Nebraska the rest of the way. 7 2 Quote Link to comment
WyoHusker56
@HANC I've been an AM fan too but wanted the switch after NW. Now I wonder how Illinois would have gone with him in. I hope the offense around him keeps improving and he goes off next year for his senior year. Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
I had been a strong defender of Martinez in his first 2+ years, but I also thought it was time to see what Luke had. After the past 2 games, I think it’s clear that Martinez is the answer for the team to win games now. He’s not always pretty, but he’s the best option now. NU sinks or swims with him. 2 Quote Link to comment
deedsker
The biggest difference between the beginning of the year and now is the WR we put on the field. More Betts and Robinson actually in the slot helps a bunch. 1 Quote Link to comment
Ulty
So hard to find good role models these days...I was very happy to be able to watch the game with my son and AM’s post game interview and explain to my son how AM responded to his benching. Be like AM. 5 1 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
Betts is a huge difference. He at least draws the attention of the defense. Martinez had a 20 yard pass to Wandale, who was sitting in the middle of the zone defense, because Betts took a guys deep on that play. 4 1 Quote Link to comment
HANC
@Coloradohusk I agree on Betts, going to be fun watching him. I saw that play a little differently. Watching as a coach (which is wrong), I was frustrated that Betts began jogging early on that route rather than flying deeper. If he takes that defender deeper, it clears everything for Wandale. I think it is TD if Betts finishes route. Again, I love Betts. 3 Quote Link to comment
ZRod
Adrian needed to sit for a bit that NW game. It was obvious that he was off. Sometimes a guy just needs to watch for a bit. Everyone seems to forget about Tommie and Brook. It's pretty clear that being on the sideline helped him refocus. He's still got a lot to work on, but he's clearly QB1 now. We need to find a place for Luke now. He's too good to only get one or two snaps a game. He needs to be on the field. 3 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
@HANCI was just pointing out that Betts’ mere presence on the field creates more space for other receivers. He may have been jogging on that route. Betts also ran the wrong route when Wandale was running a deep route from the slot which resulted in a pass interference. Betts and Wandale were in the same area on that play. After the play, Wandale was telling Betts after the play. Quote Link to comment
HANC
Agree @ColoradoHusk. He commands attention. I wasnt trying to disagree with you. Just thought it was interesting bc during the game I rewound play and had a discussion with my son about that particular route. 1 Quote Link to comment
ColoradoHusk
@HANCit’s all good dude. I thought you had good insight on that play, and I didn’t notice it. Quote Link to comment
RedDenver
AM is 41 of 50 the last two games. He looks WAY better than he did to start the season. He's more calm and confident in the pocket than I ever remember seeing him. Having good snaps helped a ton as well. 1 Quote Link to comment
Canadian Fan
Huge props to AM..... Well done young man!!! Quote Link to comment
Undone
Adrian has about as much heart, dedication, and will as any Husker to put on the red 'N' in my opinion. He didn't pout and give up after Luke got the start against Illinois; he fought back and did everything he could for the team. 76% completion percentage today? Amazing. For anybody that might say "Yeah but that's because so many of those throws are high percentage ones." Sure, fine - then give Frost & Lubick credit for drawing up a game plan that moved the chains and put up 37 points! 4 2 Quote Link to comment
