  2. Ahhh yes...the mythical USC and Bama offers. I think those offers happened in the basement of a hotel right before a big game.

  3. Was this sarcasm? I couldn't tell. You've got the saying wrong first of all, it's "no news is good news." We could be hearing about arrests, hospitalizations, fights, etc. No news seems more like they are focused and aren't exactly looking for attention right now. I like it. I'd much rather go into the season underrated than overrated. Also, I like to hear team news, but I completely understand the desire to push all the reporters out for awhile. The coaches have work to do and they don't need unnecessary distractions.

  5. I don't know any of the specifics of how she may go about satisfying all those platform bullet points but, playing devil's advocate, it could indeed be scary depending. Sure most of that sounds pretty nice on the surface but bringing them to fruition could be the biggest shift towards pure socialism this country has ever seen. She could be well intentioned or she could be a hard left loon. If concern about the details of possible radical change like this makes me an uncaring monster so be it.

  6. I absolutely LOVE this woman!!!! This ^^^^ is Ocasio-Cortez's platform. Cortez's platform is, according to Trump's chief apologist, and propagandist Sean Hannity, a "dangerous" and "scary" platform. Stop and think about that for a moment: Sean Hannity (and probably most conservatives) think that people having a job, health care, a home, college or trade school education for their kids, and people having the basic necessities....that's a "dangerous" and "scary" platform. What kind of selfish, self-serving, uncaring monster does someone have to be to say, "Nope, not everyone deserves a job, a home, and healthcare."

  7. The part I bolded, is a stereotype which assumes that people are poor because they don't work hard, aren't willing to work hard, and/or are lazy.

  8. Happening right now. Whether there was collusion or not, there can no longer be a denial that the Russians influenced the 2016 election. If this had happened and Clinton had won, the Russians would have disclosed it to cast doubt on the legitimacy of her presidency. But since Trump won, there's been no such claim. I wonder why...

  10. We've made up a lot of ground here. I believe he's in our top tier of OT's. However, there are weight concern rumors. Personally, I like Anderson more...I think our staff does too.

  11. Iceland got crushed today but Thor had 6 points with 5 boards & 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. Could have had more assists if his teammates could shoot - not that he shot well either since he was 2 for 8 and 1 of 3 on free throws.

  12. Shutdown Fullcast did a show about the Big Ten West. And which team did they focus on? The Huskers, of course. Because no other team is as interesting, charming, or drives as nice of a car as Nebraska. Obligatory NSFW language warning. They describe Nebraska as a secretive American inner sanctum, much like Wakanda. They dub us "Wacornda" and I think I'm stealing this line and claiming it's my own at parties. Also, they describe Hawkeye from The Avengers as "The only superhero who skips arm day."

  14. Im not okay with the accumulation of wealth at the very top. But I’m equally not okay with guaranteeing these benefits to those who don’t contribute. If you can’t contribute that is one thing but I’ve seen too much to think too many people in this country won’t take the path of least resistance. Sad but true fact.

  15. So poverty exists, and we should just ignore it? Further, we should ignore how rich people lobby Congress to get tax breaks for their company? It is literally the second biggest scam in human history: Rich Person: If you give me tax credits and no income taxe on my company, I'll create X number of jobs that'll pay millions in taxable income revenue. Society: Yeah that sounds reasonable. [When the actual tax revenue collected falls well short of what was promised.] Society: Hey rich person, we're going to need to tax your income and corporation. Rich Person: If you do that, I'll move my company to another city or state. In fact, if you want me to keep these jobs here, I'll need even more tax breaks. Society: Well we don't want this city to lose those jobs, so okay, here's even more money from the taxpayers. Rinse and repeat. And all through this, those at the top get richer and richer, while those at the bottom fall further and further behind.

  16. Mr. Be hart is on my want list and "MUST" list! He is now ranked #20 on the OT list on 247. It also appears Wisky is higher on his list then . So, in getting him we also deal a blow to those damn Badgers in recruiting. Wisky already has the #4 and #59 ranked OT so it would do very well to snag this guy. If not, Wisky has the #2, #20 and #59 OT verses our #87 (Anderson) and possible #69 (Lynn). #81 OT Grant Treiber is still a possibility for us as well. I will add ... Iowa has the #24 and #36 ... so with out two main competitors on our side of the division we lose ground in this recruiting cycle as it currently stands at this position. FYI, OSU has the #10 (Nester) and #30. Michigan has the #31, #39 and #60. Michigan St. has the #5 and #44.

  17. That's not the point. Did you click on, and read, any of the links I provided? However, since you asked: I would imagine that Jeff Bezos, along with every other super rich person, spends his money politically on furthering the corporate welfare state and to further enrich himself (themselves) at taxpayers expense.

  20. Sean Hannity can get bent, but there are plenty of reasonable conservatives that don't think those things are dangerous and scary, but think that giving the federal government carte blanche control over education, health, property, money, and weapons is dangerous. And I'd probably agree with them, at least in theory. I do like Cortez though. Talk about an amazing underdog story and a refreshing change of pace.

  22. What do I think? I think the Democrats are the lesser of two evils right now, and that is all they are. As a group providing leadership they are exceedingly wanting. They are the flotsam we cling to amid the wreckage of the sinking ship that is the American Dream. The Democrat Party is not the answer to the problems America faces. They are simply the best of two bad options. If we avert this current crisis, they need to reform or retire, period.

  23. He makes some good points here. Personally I wonder how long the Republican Party can keep winning elections running on a platform of anti legal abortion, anti gay rights , Christianity, unlimited guns, discrimination against minorities , massive military spending and wars , anti social programs etc when the young people don’t care about any of that, or think the opposite. I know a small sampling of millennials including my own children and the all seem to be very tolerant and liberal .

  25. Just read that yes, Article 5 would be pertinent. And no he shouldn't meet with him, but he especially shouldn't do so alone. And I have a feeling he will do both. We should all be fearful of what will happen in that room. I can only hope that our men and women in the CIA/FBI etc have the capability to record what happens there and use it to protect the United States. I have no doubt whatever is discussed is not good for us citizens.

  27. Riley failed up...it happens. I feel like his destiny (if you believe in that) was to be a high school varsity coach and social studies teacher. The staff loves him, the kids love him, the town loves him and he coaches and teaches at the school for 30 years...never winning a lot...never having horrible 1 win seasons either...then he "retires" from coaching and becomes the schools AD and goes on for another 15 years and retires from the little high school after 45 years. I feel like that was what his life was supposed to be but he just failed up.

  28. Why do you presume the Russians are solely to blame? Maybe wait for a bit before making a pronouncement like that. The investigation is still ongoing, and moving at breakneck speed. We'll find out more soon enough, likely, and it's more than a little bit possible that Americans were directly involved. Stay tuned. Was the material genuine? That's for the DNC to confirm or deny. Likely they'll do neither, unless it becomes a matter of national security or part of a trial. Disclosing the truth or falsehood of internal, private documentation isn't something you're likely to see from any entity with qualified legal counsel. Why the uproar over whether there was collusion? That's a question that shouldn't need to be asked or answered. Why is there barely a whimper about stopping it from happening again? That's a question for congressional Republicans to answer. Why are they more interested in investigating Peter Strzok than Russian election interference?
    1 point
  29. I don't necessarily disagree with this. The Russian interference was hardly unprecedented, and whatever collusion happened would likely fall in the bigger, murkier waters of Dirty Politics. But there was a time when Russia hacking the U.S. election for its own political purposed would have united Americans of all persuasions. Now, only one party is calling it a distraction and a witch hunt, blaming not the Russians, but our own FBI and the ever-convenient bogeyman, The Deep State . I think there have been some pretty public efforts by Dems and some Republicans to raise the foreign interference issue in anticipation of future elections, and Facebook and Google were forced to take action on the Russian bot front. The bigger issue really isn't Russian interference at all. It's the President of the United States declaring war on his own intelligence agencies to protect his ego and his legitimacy. That's some dangerous s#!t.

  30. The most damning and appalling things have already happened, with absolutely no consequence for Trump or the GOP. So I'm going to hold off rubbing my hands with glee. I don't see any swift resolution on the legal side, and if there is not a significant surge against Republicans in the mid-terms, then this is who America is for the foreseeable future. There's an increasingly good side bet that we could collapse into a Third World oligarchy, unhindered by our traditional checks & balances. Never thought I'd type that, but can't deny the possibility. Once you're all in on Fake News, Deep State and Witch Hunt, you aren't obliged to answer to evidence. I don't know. Maybe the apologists and people on the fringes will get a conscious. Maybe someone can create a narrative that allows them to admit Trump should go, without admitting their culpability. But it doesn't happen with Sean Hannity and Fox and Friends still on the air.
    1 point
  31. Well, there has been uproar about trying to stop it from happening again. That's part of the reason for the investigation. We need to know who and how they did it before we can stop them from doing it again. Problem is, the leader of our country does not support the investigation and STILL is trying to convince America that it's some DEEP STATE conspiracy theory and a huge which hunt. So....it makes it harder for the sane people in our government to actually work to make it not happen again when our dear leader (their boss) does nothing but fight them and ridicule them in public for their hard work. His protests on this issue pretty much tells me where his loyalties are......hint.....it's not America.

  32. Really makes you wonder why, with these kinds of indictments coming in, Trump continues to make accusations like this. A patriot would read these allegations and be very troubled by it. A patriotic president would demand a full investigation. Let's see what Trump does.

  34. Define 'better'. The standard definitions don't work because they don't adjust for pace. Football statistics are awful in this regard. It's a drive based game in which drive based stats are incredibly hard to come by. I like to use simple differential stats, because at the end of the day it doesn't matter what your offense or defense does, it matters what the difference is between what you generate minus what they generate. That's how it works in an alternate possession game. You can't really do much to change the number of possessions, so you just change how efficient your possessions are relative to the opposition. All Diaco had to do was outperform Banker. He didn't make it through Arkansas St before his leash expired. Chinander faces steep initial criticism. He won't have much of a cushion, and he knows that. I like that about him. He knows the expectations are high and he understands what not meeting them means in this business.

  40. "there weren't a slew of key injuries..." ^ Interesting thoughts from the author, Pete Fiutak. Like every team in the country, Wisconsin did face key injuries. Quintez Cephus, Wisconsin's best receiver, saw his season end after a broken leg. Jazz Peavy, Wisconsin's leading receiver in 2016, was MIA after Wisconsin's win versus Northwestern. He didn't play the rest of the season due to personal reasons. Jack Cichy, one of the best LBs in the conference, tore his ACL during fall camp and missed the entire season. Zack Baun, projected to be one of Wisconsin's starting OLBs, hurt his foot during fall camp and missed the entire season. Troy Fumagalli, one of the best TEs in the conference, missed multiple games in 2017 and was hobbled most of the season. D'Cota Dixon, an All-Conference performer at SS, missed three full games in 2017 and only saw a couple snaps in a couple other games due to a shoulder injury. He had surgery this off-season.
