  1. Can't think of a better team to run rule than Iowa

  2. Really??? Ask a Nebraska baseball player if he would prefer to play in warmer weather and have more early season home games but have to play till July.....or the way it is now. I have a guess as to what their answer would be. And.....they don't have to "stay in school". There is no reason why the season can't go past the end of the school year.

  6. As someone who manages people, I say make sure the person knows what you would like to do. It can be done professionally. One thing that is sometimes tough for a manager is to figure out what people really want to do. I can name a number of times where an employee expresses interest in something and I sit there thinking...hmmm....I had no idea. And...they turned out to be really good at where they wanted to go. Managers can't read minds. Professionally express to the person what you are interested in doing. If they have other plans for this team, fine. But, at least they know you're interested so that next time, they will know and include you.

  8. How would that possibly haunt them? Every single one of them have already explicitly, time and time again, revealed their true stances and lack of care for the American public. Them voting on impeachment would do nothing. The people who would see it as an indictment have already known the truth of them, and the rest would continue to bury their heads in the sand the way they already have despite overwhelming massive undeniable evidence of bad behavior. Again. The Dems have not, will not, and are not setting that precedent. The precedent has already been clearly set, but not by the Dems.

  10. It's over. Swept them in less than 90 minutes. Foecke finished with 8 kills, 2 blocks and an ace. Hit .500 for the match. Something for those of you nostalgic for Foecke Bombs. Pretty cool to see Karch talk up Foecke like this. I can remember back in the day when I was a young knapplc and I actually got Karch's autograph on a pink hat. Could be the last autograph I ever got.

  13. Another example of Trump being swayed by Fox and Friends. It is also an example of lawlessness. Trump potential pardons of soldiers before they even have their day in court is problematic to say the least. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/5/24/18637360/trump-war-crimes-pardons-gallagher-golsteyn-fox-news-hegseth

  14. Good question. The Senate offers "advice and consent" to the President by a majority vote on the appointments of federal judges, ambassadors, and Cabinet positions. Treaties with other nations entered into by the President must be approved by a two-thirds vote by the Senate. http://www.ushistory.org/gov/6a.asp https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R45442.pdf Congress’s Authority to Influence and Control Executive Branch Agencies The Constitution neither establishes administrative agencies nor explicitly prescribes the manner by which they may be created.Even so,the Supreme Court has generally recognized that Congress has broad constitutional authority to establish and shape the federal bureaucracy. Congress may use its Article I lawmaking powers to create federal agencies and individual offices within those agencies, design agencies’ basic structures and operations, and prescribe, subject to certain constitutional limitations, how those holding agency offices are appointed and removed.Congress also may enumerate the powers, duties, and functions to be exercised by agencies, as well as directly counteract, through later legislation, certain agency actions implementing delegated authority. The most potent tools of congressional control over agencies, including those addressing the structuring, empowering, regulating, and funding of agencies, typically require enactment of legislation. Such legislation must comport with constitutional requirements related to bicameralism (i.e., it must be approved by both houses of Congress) and presentment (i.e., it must be presented to the President for signature). The constitutional process to enact effective legislation requires the support of the House, Senate, and the President, unless the support in both houses is sufficient to override the President’s veto. There also are many non-statutory tools (i.e., tools not requiring legislative enactment to exercise) that may be used by the House, Senate, congressional committees, or individual Members of Congress to influence and control agency action. In some cases, non-statutory measures, such as impeachment and removal, Senate advice and consent to appointments or the ratification of treaties, and committee issuance of subpoenas, can impose legal consequences. Others, however, such as House resolutions of inquiry, may not be used to bind agencies or agency officials and rely for their effectiveness on their ability to persuade or influence

  17. I think that social media isolates us more - the more tools, methods of communication we have the less we are really communicating. SM replaces real connecting emotions with emojis - we replace real spoken words wt digital text. We replace a hug or encouraging pat on the back wt a . Nothing communicates better than real body language, hearing spoken words or feeling that encouraging hug, or pat on the back. Thus I believe (my opinion - perhaps there is a real study out there) we are more detached while we are more 'connected' and we communicate less while we communicate more. I've sen families eating at a restaurant and all are looking at their cell phone and not communicating and connecting wt those they are with- being in the moment. Emotional isolation can be a strong trigger for suicide.

  25. I can honestly say I don't care. I don't say that to be snippy. It's just something I really don't care about. Sure, I'm glad we got over the hump of electing a black person. But....these types of questions are not something I ponder nor really care about. I want a good President no matter if they are white, male, black female, gay....whatever. And, when we elect a woman or gay person, I hope it's based on them being a good candidate instead of everyone getting excited about electing the first xyz person.

  28. Holy moly, man woman and child, do I hear your groans in the aisles. We were lucky enough to move down during the Riley Era when people were pissed off enough to dump their seats. 50 rows in three years - the equivalent of generations of moving onward & downward. But when we sat in Section 35, Row 84, we didn't even try to leave games for at least 15 minutes, and a lot of times more. We have the 25th largest stadium in the world. A veritable palace for sports. But that doesn't mean we don't need to upgrade it.
