  1. Which, we will. 30 to 40% of the country doesn't believe in science, thinks wearing a mask is an affront to their liberty and will eat any conspiracy fed to them. Even when cases and hospitalizations start going up again they'll call it fake news. We're a country full of fat, stupid people.

  2. Not sure where you're going here. Modern medicine is light years ahead of 1918, and the solid information it gives us tells us things modern Americans don't want to hear or follow. If we get non-English speaking minority groups on the same page, they will refuse to risk their lives at the meatpacking plants and Amazon fulfillment centers that continue to serve folks with safe work from home jobs and savings accounts. If the English-speaking white folk in Montgomery, Alabama hadn't gone out in public to protest the quarantine, maybe Montgomery wouldn't have seen a 110% spike in coronavirus cases two weeks later, which has now overwhelmed every hospital bed in the city. Let's not be quite so racist about who needs to get on what page. Modern medicine and technology is also telling us that some of the really deadly March outbreaks are likely traced to a big soccer match in Italy, the CES show in Las Vegas, a medical convention in Boston, and the concentration of Spring Breakers in Florida returning home. Even then, nobody is calling for a complete lockdown. Our SIP has been more lax than many countries, and things are reopening right and left. But if you do listen to the solid information of Modern Medicine, they caution that big communal events like sports, concerts and conventions should be the last to resume. The same Modern Medicine also thinks we should absolutely pay attention to the lessons of the 1918 Influenza pandemic, when we declared victory too early and the death toll came back twice as hard. That kinda f#&%s up the economy, too.

  4. I think the DL has a chance to be pretty good. I look for Ty Robinson to be ready to be a force. Something tells me that YPC is going to drop this season, and Mauga-Clements will be a reason why. The dude is a tackling machine.

  5. Guy, for the record, I am a minority. I'm not being racist, just stating facts. I also work an essential job so you can stay safe and sound at home. The demographics are telling the story just about everywhere. Yes, all races are catching it but it's very disproportionate to minorities. Most on here are intelligent enough to understand why. The bottom line is we aren't stopping this virus. Most of us will catch it eventually. Modern medicine and intelligence will help the vast majority of us make it through just fine. May as well get back to living.... And football!

  6. What they lie about matters. For instance, Biden mostly lies about stuff that is really of no consequence to me personally, like getting arrested in South Africa or how many degrees he had. Trump lies about the seriousness of a pandemic, or effectiveness of wearing a mask, or potential health benefits of disinfectants, or why we can't see his tax returns. I could go on. All lies are not created equal. Trump is a malicious liar; Biden is generally benign.

  7. See the first line in my post. They are the numbers we have. So we can b!^@h and whine about numbers we don't like, or use the data available to make smart decisions. If the numbers aren't supporting your argument, they must be inaccurate. It is exhausting.

  8. I’m not worried so much about Nebraska as I think Governor Ricketts has approached this pretty level headed so far. It’s SEC territory that I’m most concerned about. Mainly because of population and general political beliefs on the matter.

  9. Florida in particular is super f-d up; they fired a woman for refusing to fudge data to show that cases were going down. To the jacka$$ throwing out laughing reactions: when was the last time we got accurate numbers out of Grand Island?

  10. That's actually a pretty huge deal if you actually stopped to think about it. Stealing this from Reddit or Twitter, or wherever I saw it first, but; name another white guy who stood behind a blackman while he was in the most powerful position in the world. Not just stood behind him, but didn't try to back stab him, or talk down to him, but enthusiastically had his back and played second fiddle to him for 8 years.

  11. I agree. Losing JD (if gone) will hurt. People crazy to say it won't impact NU if he's out. We have the entire OL back, Wan'dale, a healthy AM, Vokolek at TE, a ton of potential OL talent, two potential game changing receivers etc.....And Austin as the running game coordinator. I continue to beat the drum of liking to see Luke used like Taysom Hill. That'd be a nightmare for opposing DC's....I think that'd go a long way into getting him meaningful snaps/experience and keep him happy (not that he isn't). Defense, I see some issues....Sipple mentioned a comment that Chin made about the DL would have some big shoes to fill...Sip was concerned with this comment as the shoes to fill were almost deadlast against the run (4.8 ypc) in the B1G and the towards the bottom in FBS...But that's another thread. To the OP, I really believe there is no competition. The job is AM's to lose. BUT if he struggles, I think Luke gets a shot. Losing Noah makes it interesting in the decision making though. How ready will Smothers be to go from #3 to #2 if AM goes down and Luke starts......We had all 3 injured last year......

  14. I mean at the end of the day every politician lies. Even Bernie has been caught with 18 out right lies on politifact. With how much they talk in public they’ll end up saying something false, it’s the nature of the beast. For reference Biden has 22 out right lies compared to Bernies 18. Trump has 400 out right lies recorded.

  15. It's not about numbers not supporting someone's argument, it's flat-out knowing that it's inaccurate; when the data we have is either A. false or 2. gathered in bad faith, how can you use that to make any sort of "smart decision"?

  18. You're kin have been wrong about the trajectory of this virus from the start.... "It's a hoax", "it's not a pandemic", "it'll soon be zero", "it'll miraculously disappear in April", "if we just close off travel from China we'll be fine", "hydroxychloroquine is a game changer", "we're testing more than any other country in the world", "anyone who needs to get tested, can get tested", "we don't really need testing", "maybe we can all inject disinfectants or shine a bright light through our skin".... Why would you start getting it right now?

  19. To you dooms day opinions, why has Nebraska's daily case count gone down since easing restrictions? Most of us with a positive frame of mind are purely looking at what is actually happing. Our cases are going down. Hospital capacity is still ok.

  20. The Ohio State team he beat was 6-7 and had their all conference quarterback injured in the third The Michigan teams he beat were 8-5 (starting quarterback injured in 1st), and 7-6 The Wisconsin team he beat was 8-5 and then lost to the same team by 40 points The Iowa teams he beat were 7-6, 4-8, and 7-6 The Penn State teams he beat were 9-4 (days after the Sandusky scandal broke and JoePa gone), 8-4, and 7-5 That's not to say the accomplishments are nothing, but in addition to his abilities as a coach he was unfathomably lucky to get the worst versions of those teams in the last decade. When he played a good Ohio State team, he lost by 25. When he played a good Michigan team, he lost by 28. When he played good Wisconsin teams, he lost by 31 and 35.

  21. Kinda crazy when you compare the people who served under Obama to the people who serve(d) under Trump. I'm still wondering why people s#!t on Obama so much. He actually hired quite a few Republicans. He tried to find the best people. His National Intelligence director served under Bush and had a ton of experience before he started in that position. Trump hires a politician/lawyer who lied about his anti terrorism experience. His main "qualification" is that he's a Trump sycophant. This is one thing I really can't understand about any Trump supporters who are at least semi-intelligent. Why are they okay with this kind of thing?

  22. I'm in the Biden might very well have dementia and at the very least his mind is deteriorating as he ages group. That said, dementia is better than having always been a f#&%ing moron and one that is only out for himself even if the rest of the world burns to the ground.

  29. The D line will be fine. We need a linebacker to have in the 130 to 150 tackles range....which is where names such as Barrett Ruud, Demorrio Williams and LaVonte David ranked. Mo Barry had 89 last season.

  30. I disagree, particularly in the case of Florida. It would be one thing if you had incomplete data, but those numbers are being massaged for political reasons, and more people are going to get sick and die.

  31. Yeah but not disturbing in that the amount of undergrad degrees he has has no tangible effect on anyone's life. Lying about, say, the benefits of prescription drugs or disinfectants, on the other hand, cost some very dumb people very dearly.

  32. That's why statistics about 'lies' are useless. They don't know how to treat opinions. Those education-based lies Biden told are quite material and disturbing in that they can be easily fact-checked.

  33. I was in the same boat in terms of how Ricketts was handling this at the beginning, but he's fumbled the ball quite a bit the past couple of weeks, between the TestNebraska fiascos and not requiring accurate reporting from sources. Takeout margaritas, however, might be the best idea he's ever had.

  36. If they end up playing, I think there’s going to be some fans, but more like 1/4 capacity maximum. Staff all over the place making sure people are adhering to whatever the prescribed precautions are at the time. Concession limitations, etc. But this is all a big IF at this point. If we as a country screw this whole reopening and relaxing thing up resulting in a curve that isn’t so flat anymore, then I’d say the likelihood of fans takes a nosedive. If hospitals begin to fill up with Covid patients then well...we all know by now what that means.

  37. i think bidens apology is good. and refreshing. when trump flubs something he has the entire far right propaganda arm wage war telling us that we are snowflakes or we just hate trump for taking him to task. Joe actually apologized for his mistake. i know there are those that are predisposed to hate joe for anything and everything....but having the strength of character to apologize is good IMO https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/biden-tells-black-radio-host-problem-figuring-trump/story?id=70834037 "I shouldn't have been such a wise guy," Biden added, “I don't take [the black vote] for granted at all. And no one, no one should have to vote for any party, based on their race, their religion, their background. There are African-Americans who think that Trump was worth voting for. I don't think so, I'm prepared to put my record against his. That was the bottom line and it was really unfortunate, I shouldn't have been so cavalier,” Biden said.

  38. I don't really disagree, but I'm always curious who people think we should have gone after. Clearly Walters wasn't the right OC, but 'excellent, experienced' OCs aren't exactly lining up to not call plays in somebody else's offense, for any amount of money. DC would be more plausible, but again most excellent and experienced DCs are either 1) head coaches/head coach candidates, 2) already coaching at a big school, or 3) not actually that experienced. If we're taking a shot on an inexperienced but interesting DC, why not the guy who in his first 2 years as a DC took the team from 116th to 2nd in turnovers forced. And his first year defense went from 115th to 9th in YPP, although they regressed back to 72 in year 2. Huge games against Memphis and USF to end the year dragged that down. Definitely not a home run guaranteed great DC, but he made a dumpster fire defense passable with elite turnover forcing ability. I don't think there were a bunch of guys with a better track record that would come here.

Ameer Abdullah Rex Burkhead Taylor Martinez Adrian Martinez Stanley Morgan Wandale Robinson Maurice Washington Roy Helu Jr Jordan Westerkamp Brandon Reilly Niles Paul Quincy Enunwa Andy Janovich JD Spielman Only four of these players were good. The rest weren't even good. You should be the coach.
