  1. I am a big fan of hers. I think people have been told to mock or fear her for being a radical leftist, but she makes vastly more sense than many if not most of her colleagues. You have to dig beyond the cherry-picked and out of context fear quotes generated against her, but she's generally sharp, articulate, and on top of actual issues. She'll pass a lot more fact checks than a slew of Republicans given the mic and spotlight. Or to put it another way, if AOC is the far left and MTG is the far right, which extreme would you trust making real world decisions?

  3. How to tell us you don't know the difference between an indictment and a verdict. You realize those aren't the same jury, right? And that there's no defense or anyone to present exculpatory evidence to a grand jury? And the misinformation about Soros funding really undercuts believing anything you post.

  4. Kinda dumb we have news about former players who've died in the same thread with guys who've transferred.

  6. There it is, the whataboutism card. Didn't Byrd renounce his bigoted past? Aren't Christians all about grace? There's still time for you. Lol ...the New York Post complete with the "Marxism" boogie man Never been there but it seems like a pretty cool oasis in the middle of a backwards, hillbilly state.

  10. I think the rights of the shooter come first. As long as they are white. Oh, and Republican. Everyone else just needs to make better choices, because clearly they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  12. OMG...police arrested both fathers then later dropped charges against 1 of them. i seem to remember a big kerfuffel about cops in NY arresting both people involved in a fight awhile back. i wonder if the same people will blame the dems for this one also?

  13. And yet where it mattered - a trial - the jury convicted him. And when you announce you're going to go kill people and then you do - that's premeditation - not just "swimming upstream" or "a terrible look".

  14. I have no idea who that twitter donkey is but I teach a class on this topic and it is pretty accurate. Culture Industries have already decided what is/will be popular and we basically pick from those choices. "Critics" attack things but the general population embraces it. It is why movies that make bank at the box office do not win oscars. AOC and China? Bro... I gotta give you props, you stick to your guns! But don't fall in love. She will be out of politics and hosting a podcast for 30 million a year.

  15. Just saw this on another board. Grew up with his dad- he was several years older but hung around the house. Mourning the loss of one of our own. On behalf of the Nebraska Football program, our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends & teammates of former Husker lineman, Cole Pensick, who passed away yesterday at the age of 32. https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/football/former-nebraska-offensive-lineman-cole-pensick-dies-in-one-vehicle-crash/article_caa98d92-99f5-519f-99bf-5d3e19818602.html

  16. Pretty sure as a soldier he would have been held to a higher standard as far as ROE in a combat zone.

  17. I’m more concerned about the defense early on than than the offense. But both may not be nearly ready to run what Rhule & Co really want in the future. For those of us who are hoping for something new and different than we’ve seen the past 7 years, on both sides of the ball, we may not see that for awhile. Wholesale systemic changes won’t be easy when the entire program is new. I expect the defense to be faster but inconsistent. A hit & miss performance which may take time to develop. As the season goes along, errors should be reduced. By year 2, improved execution should come. Similar issues can be expected on offense but if the offense is quite similar to recent teams, we may not see many basic mistakes but will likely struggle to score much more. I hope I’m wrong and we truly implement a new, different offense. But I’m not betting on it. We have to have a serious run game. Perhaps it will be there but I will have to see it this fall. I think better special teams and more turnovers produced by a more aggressive, gambling type defense can help. But if we can’t win the line of scrimmage it may not lead to more wins beyond 6-6. Talent and speed can get us that far.

  18. How does a player trust a coach that doesn't know that he (the player) isn't delivering his best? That's his obligation to you, to help you be your best and contribute what you have to offer. A never-ending discovery process. It's earned through what he consistently demonstrates on your behalf. And, how does a coach trust a player but through the actions he demonstrates on a consistent basis. When both are acting in their and each other's interest there is trust! It's the foundation of the relationship, really the team. Not anyone's ego but caring, being earnestly interested. Authentic with who you are coach and player. You have to have accountability while being genuinely interested in the player as a person. And, the actions of the coach and his staff helps to determine the team's culture having accountability. We have standards, not rules that the team adheres to because there is a purpose to the standards, not because someone charged with leading you told you so. We have standards in order to WIN and winning is FUN. And, having fun is the reward for doing what is required for winning. The more playing is fun, the more success the team experiences. There's got to be a shared vision. Cohesiveness. Discipline, beginning with what's demonstrated by the coaches. Real competitiveness, not just practicing. Doing the things that are done in games. All of it including physical contact. Learning occurs as a consequence of playing games though games are not practice! Playing fundamentally sound. Having attention to detail. Making change constant. Everyone discovering and delivering their BEST.

  22. Anytime you lose out on a quality target especially when our OL has the depth that it has..it is huge. The class last year is okay. But not great. We need a better class than last year.

  23. been saying it for the last two years.. when hitters swing for the fence instead of swing for the grass and moving runners well... that's exactly what you get.. high number of strikeouts and runners LOB... Time will tell if Bolt and company can/will correct this.

  28. The 6th jury they could find, after five others wouldn't indict, convicted him. And OJ walked. He'll likely be pardoned. And I guess you didn't like this part; I'll post again. The indictment itself was not without controversy. Detective David Fugitt, the well-respected lead investigator in the case who is known locally as the "godfather of the homicide unit," claimed in a sworn affidavit in August 2021 that prosecutors under Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza, one of several district attorneys who have been funded by leftwing billionaire George Soros, forced him to remove exculpatory evidence from his presentation to the grand jury.

  29. Yea, that's bad. You're significantly swimming upstream if you're posting that stuff and this situation happens. Even if the actual shooting situation that night happened where he could've used justifiable force, the posts are a terrible look. That said, it seems that the APD investigator testified for the Defense. And the D.A. went through around six Grand Juries to find one that would indict. https://www.foxnews.com/us/austin-murder-trial-begins-army-sergeant-who-claims-shot-armed-protester-self-defense-2020 The indictment itself was not without controversy. 35. I have been generally pleased with Rhule thus far in his words and actions. Seems to be saying and doing all the right stuff to get the program reorganized and moving forward positively. I am withholding judgment on his offense and defense until I see it. However, recent player remarks in pressers have been less encouraging - the first ‘alarm bells’ I’ve noticed. I’m getting a sense that the changes to the offense may be only superficial, somewhat Frost 3.0 perhaps. This is scary to me. I suppose Rhule might be thinking that major scheme overhauls could be too drastic for the shaky O line and the QB room coupled with the minimal experience in WRs, in year one with limited practices and conference opener on the road. Coach Satt utilized much of the same or similar stuff as Frost at SoCar. But indications of fullbacks, being physically tough and running the ball more devotedly sounded so positive before. Now I am getting uneasy again. 2023 needs to be a rebuild and reconfiguration not just a reboot with more of the same which seems to be the idea coming from the players. I know Rhule has year one as a new beginning with less demanding expectations from many fans but I think ‘more of the same’ won’t cut it. The fans can accept some struggles early on with a new system and new players. But I’m not sure I can be too accommodating IF we see more of the same.

  36. Being okay with expelling members of the opposition party in a gross display of being authoritarian and antidemocratic is the absolute peak @Archy1221. I didn't say he broke time law. Do you not understand what quid pro quo corruption is? Anybody who has a brain not completely melted by right wing news can see that's what's happening here.

  38. Sucks that none of the guys you listed were early enrollees as they could be getting some good reps this spring with a couple starters out. Van Poppel looks pretty mature and will probably have as good of shot as playing as a freshman as any DL ever will which is still not ideal. Maciejczak obviously has the brute strength but I have no idea what we should expect from him.
