I was just listening to the Husker Game Show on the radio while I was driving. We often make fun of anyone who says that refs have been over zealous on calls against us and underwhelming on calls against other teams that we play. They had one of their stat guys do some research. He found it has been 22 games since a Nebraska opponent was called for holding on a pass play that was accepted by us. The last one was Illinois in 2016. I'm curious if any other schools have even a 10 game stretch.

I'm not saying we haven't had problems with our OL holding. Replay shows that most are legitimate. The stat that I wanted to draw attention to was our opponents not getting called for holding on a pass play in 22 games. Todays offenses don't just pass on third down. Granted many offenses get the ball out quickly before there is much engagement.

About a year ago some Omaha area 40 something dads got together and formed a band. My son is one of the four and this is their first recording. Kid Nebraska is their name.

I dreamed a song last night that I can't find on google or You Tube. The impression I remember from the style of the song is it sounded like the Allman Bros. The singer was shocked that his girl friend had ended their relationship and he was trying to tell her they had something good. Finally he realizes she won't be convinced and starts the chorus of the song with the line "It's all good, there's no bad." Does this ring a bell with anyone?

NBA games are so scripted and predictable it's ridiculous.

Just my opinion...Boston and Houston are not nearly as marketable as Cleveland/Golden State round 4. Houston and Boston will both be ahead at halftime but the Cavs and GS will both squeak out wins. It will be marketed as whether LBJ is playing his last games in Cleveland and what Klay Thompson will do in the future. Will the Cavs be fired up and ready to accept the challenge or will GS sweep in 4.

No kidding. Every time I turn on an NBA game I know one of the teams is going to beat the other. The team with the better closers usaully wins. There will be some questionable calls. I will question what really is traveling. Shaq and Chuck will make me chuckle. Van Gundy will have a problem with rules and officiating and I will witness a couple feats of athleticism that makes me mouth curse word.
Still a ten times better product than college bball.

Night Court judge Harry Anderson passed away today at age 65. Lots of good laughs from that show.

I watched several old Husker games the last 24 hours waiting on this storm. Huskers vs Miss St in the Sun Bowl. Nu vs Houston in the Cotton Bowl and Nu vs Oklahoma in 1988 regular season. That D was impressive.
-
The last two basketball teams Nebraska played and lost to are both doing very well in their respective tournaments. Miss St is in the NIT Final Four and Michigan just punched their ticket to the Elite 8.

Bill Rafferty is such a bad announcer. He and Dick Vitale need to retire.

I guess when I watch a game between two good teams I want more than the same not funny lines he's been using for 30 years. No one would watch a comedian who used the exact same jokes in every show. Raffs has been using the lines about "a little kiss off the glass" and "call the janitor to pick up the lingerie on the court" for so long I know when it's coming.

Each quarterfinal game today had a team with red as one of their colors. All four lost. Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio St and Rutgers.

Penn St knocks off OSU for the third time this season in the final seconds.

It was a rough day yesterday at Nebraska Kearney. 4.6 million dollars in budget cuts throughout the university forced them to cut $450K from the Athletic Dept. Adios mens baseball, tennis and golf.

"NU receives 13 percent of the state’s general fund, but is being asked to take roughly 34 percent of the total cut being imposed across state government."
-
The truth is this is not unique to Nebraska, however, it does seem to be unique to states that currently have a sitting Republican governor with Koch brother support. Walker has done a real number on the University of Wisconsin system. Why is this bad? Becuase the university systems in rural states tend to be one of the most important economic drivers within a state. Not only do they train the next generation of workers, but they also provide valuable resources to farmers, ranchers, small businesses, and more. Diminishing the University systems to correct self-imposed budget shortfalls will overall weaken the state's economies and opportunities for future growth, as well as encourage, rather than discourage, the "brain drain." That rural states are already facing.

Is the head umpire Clete Blakeman?

Guard a three stupid Gophers. Now another overtime before the Husker game!

Bill Walton is insufferable. I'm guessing he aligns well with ESPN.

That's why I like Walton @swmohusker

I think the playoff system may be in a bind now. The two final teams are both from the same conference. They will likely lose some viewership. Both were beaten in the regular season by Auburn. Georgia came back in the CCG to beat Auburn by 6. The committee worked their tails off keeping UCF out of the playoffs. Now UCF beats Auburn by 7. I'm guessing their solution will be to expand to 8 teams rather than keeping it at 4 with only conference champions eligible.
-
If they are going to use conference championship as a criteria then they need to be faithful to that decision. I know the argument of 'what if that conference champion is 6-6. Well, tough. I like the idea of an 8 game play off system. That way all of he conference champs are in plus a Group of 5 Winner. Leaving UCF out was a major mistake. How cool would it have been to see them play Alabama, Clemson, Georgia or even Oklahoma? This year's championship is going to be BORING! I wish we could see a true playoff like they have in basketball or volleyball. That would be exciting. But college football is all about money now. It's crap.
I'm just mad. I'll get off my soapbox now.
-
we are a very small part of the viewing audience....but if none of us watch the ESPNSEC championship game it might be worth doing what we can to help damage their ratings. Alabama may win the damn game...but they didn't fairly earn their chance to be there. FCU and OHIO state earned it more than bama did.

Harrison Phillips is now the nations leader in tackles with 100. Nebraska coaches just keep on giving. Noah Fant, Nate Bazata, Harrison P. Easton Stick.

@TonyStalloni yup and why you don’t let suits pick the players for YOUR system.
-
@BoSolich Phillips was on Bo, Stick was on Bo, Fant was a mixture, Bazata was on Bo Did Riley miss on in state guys, sure and I'm fearful of what Williams will do to us in the future, but it's been 3 straight coaches that have had issues with identifying Nebraska talent.

'm curious to see how many penalties Texas gets called for in their game vs Missouri....which is played in Texas (Houston). I've seen a hold that didn't get called (on Texas) but all three Mo penalties were legit.

Thanks for very little BTN. The lead stories on the BTN home page are a review of Gopher football and 3 points by basketball announcer Jon Crispin. Only one brief interview with Kenzie Maloney about volleyball at the bottom of the page. Just wondering if it was OSU and Michigan in the finals would it have made your front page. Your bias for the Big 2 and the little twelve is noted. There are some brief stories in the volleyball section.

So a story about Minnesota football is an earthmover? Having no stories about regular season victories in "minor sports" is one thing. Having two teams in the Final Four and one of those in the finals of what is one of three "major sports" for women. If they are so concerned about making money maybe they should think about growing their viewership for women.
-
Content decisions are based off of news judgements, audience and analytics. There's a good chance that Minnesota football story may be more germane to their audience than volleyball coverage.
I'm not saying you're wrong. You can make an argument that 'analytics be damned - write about a great story.' There's always a balance there. Just keep their audience in mind. They're writing for fan bases of 14 schools where football is, by far and away, the dominant interest.

Bye Joshua.....it's been nice knowing you. Good luck in your future.

So he committed to a group of coaches incapable of winning anything and then decommitted when we brought in the hottest coaching staff in the country, fresh off a 12-0 season and a Coach of the Year award. I get that recruiting is based in personal relationships, but it seems odd that some of these kids aren’t more interested in COMPETING, WINNING, AND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
-
You are going to move away from your family for the first time in your life. As a kid that's a big deal. To now have everything you know about the place get blown up makes you reconsider - we can say "it's the school not the coaches that you commit to" but that is bunk. When staff leaves that throws not only the recruit but his family into turmoil. Mom and dad approved of the guys that spent the last two years visiting and calling. Now they're gone, but these other guys who have been calling and visiting for 2+ years (A&M coach, though at different school) are still around - our record wasn't great, but the previous staff did a good job getting recruits and their families to buy into being a part of the change. Kid's now going far away to be with people that he's never gotten to know (who he's maybe never spoken to). To say these kids that change their minds aren't interested in competing and winning is just ignorant. They (and they're families) are doing what is best and most comfortable for them.

Penn St has already lost their OC today and might possibly lose their DC as well. On the other hand Ohio St has two coordinators who have both already been head coaches elsewhere but may never get a job outside of Columbus till Urban retires or fires them because they have limited appeal for possible shady backgrounds. Was even a peep made when they were hired under Urban?

I highly doubt that. It was in a Washington Post article and Clay Travis lead that revolt at Tennessee. OSU does the co-coordinator thing on offense and defense because most of their coordinators only stay for 2 years before they get a HC job (or in Tim Beck's case shipped off to somewhere else). There are rumors of a 2 year commitment when taking a coordinator job at OSU under Meyer. Meyer has stated he wants motivated coaches working under him that have the desire to be a HC. It is the nature of success. The Schiano hire was never supposed to be a long term solution at DC.
