File this under things are out of control ridiculous. I had to sign a waiver acknowledging that propane is flammable to get my propane bottle refilled today.

@desertshox I do find it a little surprising that the tanks aren't required to have the standard hazmat label on them. That would make sense This was the first time I've ran into the waiver requirement. This supplier is the largest propane vendor in the county. Not sure if they're being overly cautious/stupid or what. I assume they will continue this procedure, at least until they realize it really does them little good. My best guess is, they had one little issue and their lawyers kneejerked to this ridiculous idea.

Finally getting around to smoking the Corner Beef Brisket I got for St. Patty's Day. Smells good already.

It turned out a little better than normal. Times past I’ve just rubbed it with black pepper and smoked it and it was pretty good. This time I put a few more things in the rub and then when it hit 165 I coated it with honey Dijon and brown sugar, covered it and took it to 200. But I didn’t get that sticky glaze consistency I wanted. Next time I’ll probably wait until it’s about 195, then glaze it and turn up the heat for a bit.
-
@man eating mastodon Yeah, I suspected that would be the case and should've known better. The recipe I was sort of following had it going on at 165 and then getting wrapped. I pretty much knew it wouldn't get sticky/glazy but wanted to make sure I got the flavors in there. Next time I'll just unwrap it about an hour before it's done and then put it on.

@knapplc I remember that thread when his book was coming out. I started reading at that time but it became torturous reading/knowing what made the program great yet here we were after Callahan, in the final days of Pelini and then mediocre Mike. I just couldn't take reading it anymore at that time (thus my previous name Comfortably Numb). I had forgotten about it but luckily I stumbled across it in my Kindle books a few nights ago and now that I know things are headed back in that direction with the program I can once again read those stories and accounts and be happy about it rather than discouraged.

Finally! Confirmation that @GSG is in fact the most dangerous poster on HB.
A study by the Leeds Trinity school of Journalism has found that the use of all capital letters causes stress and anxiety for their students and they have banned the use of capital letters. Hello....caps lock Friday is killing us.

I always decline @GSG‘s party invitations. Something always seemed off about them, like the Super Bowl watch party in December.

First round Jeopardy category; Football. Easiest questions you can imagine and not one contestant buzzed in....on the whole category.

Football season must be here. 3 new threads, all about the best canned chili in the last 4 hours. No way that could’ve been addressed in 1 topic unless it wasn’t football season.

Frost is going to have to change his policy of not benching players for making mistakes. The stupid mistakes are killing them.

Well I did not know you meant that my bad. Please chill as I did not realize you were referencing stupid mistakes. You said bench them for making mistakes and I would just disagree but you must be mentioning the dumb mistakes. Stupid mistakes such as Roughing the passer, yes you give em a talking to. Scott will never change his mantra though.

Funny story...
My wife is talking to her mom in Nebraska on the phone moments ago. They're discussin tonight's game and have been talking football. Then my wife asks her if Riley is napping. My daughter and I both bust out laughing.....we have a nephew named Riley who is at grandma's house. I had to explain why we were laughing to my wife.

Gimme your best frozen margarita recipes.

Here's what I came up with and they were pretty good.
6 oz Tequila
2 oz Triple Sec
4 oz Frozen Limeade Concentrate
8 oz Frozen Sliced Strawberries
Put all that in blender then fill with ice.
Also made some with Frozen blueberries. Had to add some Agave Nectar (2-3 TBS) to the blueberry because they weren't sweet enough.
Wanted to make some plain lime ones (or coconut) and then layer them red, white & blue but it was a bit too hot out and I knew they wouldn't layer well without slightly freezing them first and I wasn't that ambitious.

Going to say goodbye now just in case. I won’t tolerate pop up ads. So if they’re overwhelming or intrusive imma outta here. Hopefully that won’t be necessary but...

@JJ Husker, the pop ups are very sporadic, can not exist for months. I’m pretty sure they’re unintentional. See the cafe forum there for some examples of problems people have ran into.

@JJ Husker my only qualm with digital advertising is what kind of impact it has on site performance and load times. Certain types of digital ads (particularly one kind known as programmatic in the industry) can cause sites to take anywhere from 5-15 seconds longer to load. Google started penalizing sites that utilized pop ups within the last couple of years, but that hasn't stopped them from being used, of course.
Overall, digital ads have never really bothered me. I know I'm going to be served them, so if I'm going to be served them, they might as well be targeted to my interests. Part of this may be because I'm almost 30 and digital ads have just been a part of most of my life practically. Advertising is also how most online content publishers subsidize themselves. Look at The Athletic. They require a subscription and don't serve any ads, but they also have YET to turn a profit, and it's still unclear if they will. People want their cake and they want to it eat it, too.

@cheekygeek I'm about 50 miles north of Denver and the news stations are saying it's another bomb cyclone. I'm guessing their meterologists know how many millibars it has dropped....or maybe they just wanted to use the phrase again

Guise, I just had the best liver & onions I've ever had in my life. So good.

I did inject. 1 part Johnny's aus jus, 1 part Deschutes Obsidian Stout beer and 1/2 part water. Rubbed with black pepper, salt and granulated garlic and a little red pepper flake. It seems to be stalling at about 163. I'll let it go for a couple hours (or if it gets to 175) and then wrap it. Looks like it's going to be breakfast instead of a late lunch.
-
Well it's done. It stalled for a coupled hours at 158-160. I wrapped it at 163 and reduced the heat from 240 to 225. I should've adjusted my start back since it was about 4 lbs. lighter than my initial plans. I thought it would take 16 to 20 hours and I wanted it done by lunch or supper so started at 5pm but it only took about 12 hours. Didn't get much sleep. It turned out just the way I wanted. Was able to slice (barely) the Chuck roast portion for French Dips but the rest literally fell apart so it will be pulled beef for BBQ sandwiches. Seems to be moist, tender and perfect. I will say though that I prefer pulled pork over beef. I never have been a huge brisket fan and this is very similar but with a beefier flavor. Now to grab 3 more hours sleep before lunch and the ball game.
-
Hate to admit it but that was one of the more entertaining Super Bowl games....except for the parts where Collinsworth was whining and wrong.
-
Hell yeah. Welcome Fidone.

@JJ Husker Thanks!

@GSG I couldn't believe nobody had already posted that status. My son texted me and I got on HB and nada except a few comments on his profile in recruiting. How far we've (HB) fallen.

Help me out. Prior to Saturday, when was the last time the Huskers were not thoroughly embarrassed when facing a top ten opponent?

@ZRod That game was embarrassing for the first ~48-50 minutes. To be honest, our comeback began when most had already flipped the channel.

@ZRod yeah but that’s 12 over and you look like trouble so the cop obviously knew what he was doing

@JJ Husker it was in my dad's black 300C after a concert. That Hemi got me! Truth be told it was so much smoother than my Camaro I had no idea I was speeding.
I feel like if the laser goes off you're already screwed.
