What's most important to you?

Recommended Posts

So a lot of people are hoping that Frost is named the next head coach, myself included.

But regardless of who the next coach is, what is more important to you? What aspect would be number 1 priority for you? Feel free to be as broad or granular as you please.

For me, it's a dual-threat QB. As painful as Riley's first two seasons were, my favorite aspect of Nebraska football has always been an explosive QB with speed on the ground.

Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch, Taylor Martinez, Tommy Armstrong. I loved watching those guys plays. You have guys like Joe Ganz and Zac Taylor who were damn good quarterbacks, but they're not the guys who you think about when you talk about exciting Husker QBs.

What's number 1 on your wishlist?

I agree, wins are important, but for me it's just being competitive (from which wins will come).

I'm sick to death of seeing lackluster Husker teams get blown out by teams that should be our peers. I'm sick of seeing teams like 2017 Minnesota or 2015 Purdue run roughshod over us. I want to see an offense that has fire in their eyes, and an attacking, aggressive defense.

What I most want to see, in all aspects of the game, is a team that has an identity. They know who/what they are, what they're about, and they attempt to inflict that on their opponent.  That's what being competitive is, to me. No kid grows up wanting to "take what the defense gives us," or grows up wanting to play a prevent defense their entire college career.  They want to smash someone, whether they're an offensive lineman or a Safety.

It seems like with Bo's mishmash offense and bend-but-don't break defense, and whatever the hell Langsdorf and/or Banker/Diaco are doing, they're putting our kids in a passive mode.  Winning football isn't passive, it's aggressive, predatory, dictatorial.  It's no wonder kids have been disinterested in games when the schemes they're required to adhere to are boring AF.

1. Passion - passion for NU, passion on the field, excitement and confidence to overcome every obstacle - regardless of who we are playing.

2. Development --Development of the players regardless of star power - 5 stars can be developed (or wasted) as well as 2 star kids.

3. Adjustments - real time in game adjustments - seems like our D made adjustments only at half time if at all.

4  Line Development/priority: Going wt Jr's theme above - I'd say start taking stats on PANCAKES.   I think at the core, our OL is the key to our offense.  Line Development on both sides of the ball is key.  Our running game has been worse than pathetic and our QB sack #s have been only a blimp on the radar.

I want to maximize the talent we have with schemes adapted to them.

Build upon that by recruiting to a scheme,  not just star ratings or raw talent. Make sure they actually fit what you want them to do so that they are in a position to be successful.

For once in the last 15 years let's not lose games ourselves with stupid mistakes.

Ganz could rush reasonably well when he was asked to. And realistically, that's about what I'm hoping to see next year: we might not have a Scott Frost on the roster at the moment, but if one of them can do a serviceable Ganz impression, I'd be OK with that.

Don't care if QB type is a Mariotta or Andy Luck.  But their level of talent would be great.

Oline is soft for years, that needs to change like yesterday.

Would like some speed and quickness on D, blackshirts being blackshirts, pressure QB, sacks, throwing bones and keeping points down.

I love a spread offense with a strong line and accurate passer who can move around some.  Penn State's QB, even Colt McCoy could run a bit (examples).  Just spread it out, go fast, and score 50.  That way when you matchup against tOSU, Michigan, Wisconsin you give your team confidence to score.

Basically, I'd like to see the fully realized/maximized potential version of our 2010 team. An aggressive, power spread offense with a suffocating defense.

Besides that, I want to know what it feels like for fans of teams like Oklahoma, Ohio State, Penn State, USC, Bama, etc., to go into a big time top 10 primetime matchup and at least having confidence that it will be an actual competition. Leading up to games like that with a 50/50 chance of it being a total embarassment but not because of lack of talent or ability, but lack of mental fortitude, is no way to enjoy sports.
