  1. Real talk, if we miss on Frost and hire Brett F'ing Beilema I will never watch another Husker game. Not an ounce of hyperbole in this statement. I've ben a Husker since birth but I'm out if that jackwagon steps foot on campus.

  2. With Damon being one of Phillips' closest friends, you would think he would want to bury this story about his friend, but he keeps bringing it up. Phillips broke into an apartment and assaulted a woman. Frost fought Phillips to defend her. There is zero chance Frost looks bad here - he's the good guy, Phillips is obviously in the wrong. It's crazy that we even need to bring that up. That story needs to go away. Benning, et al, continue to hurt Lawrence's legacy by constantly talking about it. It's amazing they don't see that.

  3. "The situation" is that Lawrence Phillips egregiously physically assaulted a woman. Nothing - NOTHING - Scott Frost did warranted that action from Phillips. There is no locker room code that puts blame on Frost in that instance. That is 100% on Phillips, period. Putting any blame on Frost also turns Kate McEwen into property, not a person, property subject to some man code of behavior that she, as a woman, is unable to circumvent. McEwen has every right to date anyone she wants. Locker room codes do not apply to her, or to the person she chooses to date.

  4. I’ll just just come out and say it. Not a big Benning fan. Its all about him. His inflection and long ass questions are an attempt to portray himself as a savant. I absolutely dread his interviews. His questions are commentaries. Great running back though.

  5. Hopefully Riley pulls a Callahan and drops 73 on Iowa. (Yes, that K St game wasn't Cally's last, but it was his last home game)

  7. I just listened to the Sharp & Benning segment with Foreman. I think people are reading WAY TOO MUCH into things if people think that Foreman and Benning don't want Frost to come to NU because they are still mad about the LP saga. Yes, they made comments to how things were 20 years ago, but both of them said "Frost is probably the best candidate for the NU job, and we would support him 100% as the coach of our alma mater and the team we played for. If there are still hard personal feelings over things that happened 20 years ago, I am sure it would be resolved very quickly." When there are teams of 150+ players, there are going to be cliques on the team, and some guys are going to be friends, and some aren't. Most players are going to be friends with guys in their recruiting class, and their position group. Guys on offense and defense may hardly know each other. Foreman basically said that he didn't know Frost very much during their time at NU. I have heard Benning say that they used to hang out quite a bit, Benning was caught in the middle because he wanted to support LP, but he knew what LP did was very wrong. Benning also said that I can only judge people on how they have treated me, and Benning said that Frost has treated him very well. I understand that people may not like Benning and how he does things on the radio. But, I think people are reading way too much into things on Benning's opinion on whether he wants Frost to come back to NU. I think Benning wants what is best for NU, and I think he wants Frost to come back. I think Benning worries about Frost failing and burning bridges at his alma mater. Benning has experience with this when he failed as the head coach of the Northwest football team, which was his alma mater. If you want to judge for yourself, here is the segment from today. http://www.1620thezone.com/SharpandBenningPodcastPage.aspx

  8. Riley has been nothing but great and gracious to Nebraska, our fans, our players, everything. I have a really hard time believing we need a thread like this. It didn't work out for him here. Let the man go in dignity.

  9. Florida is not going to pay a guy $8M a year that has coached a whopping 23 games in his career. All in the AAC. This guy doesn't know anything

  10. * If this isn't Mike Riley's last game at Nebraska then something super weird has happened. We all know Riley is a good guy, he's not the devil, he's just not the right fit for this job. He'll part on amicable terms, if not the way everyone wanted it to go. But he can choose how he goes out, and if I was Mike Riley, I'd go out with a bang. Turn to the back of the playbook. Pull out all the trick plays you've dreamt up. Throw everything you've got at Iowa and, even if you lose a game you're expected to lose, you'll at least give the players some fun while doing it. Blitz the hell out of them. Fake punts. Onside kicks. Have your Holder throw a shovel pass to Drew Brown and have him take it through the A gap. Black 41 Flash Reverse Pass I'd have every Senior play at least one snap. Get Adam Taylor a carry. Put Stoltenberg in as a Fullback. * We don't KNOW this is Riley's last game. But we know.

  11. Is there a reason you're in this thread? Aside from the snarky comments that probably sound way better in your own head?

  12. I don't know that I can even claim he made a bad choice. He had a chance to go to one of the best universities in the country and play for one of the best offensive minds of all time. I'm really not sure what fault I can find in that. Worked out for everyone in the end. I like your line of thinking but I don't think there's any reason to bring up anything along those lines.

  13. Scott and Kate are both 100% blameless in LP attacking an innocent person living in America free to do what they want. There is no gray area.

  15. Hello fellow board members...new member here... I have been what you call a lurker for quite some time now.. before the whole MR hire. Ive always been a fan of (most of the time) the information that everyone has to offer on this board. With the end of this season coming to a close I felt the need to finally become a member and add to this madness. No I don't have any "source" or "insider". Simply just a fan with the Huskers engraved into my soul. With this being said... someone asked about the comparisons between Frost and Tressel.. I feel its completely different. There are TOO many key factors that favor Frost to NU (IMO) where as Tressel just seemed like a name in the dark, long shot hire with no real substance. A few flight trackers here and there but nothing like what this Frost ordeal has become. If all said and done and Frost is N... this will be the most excited I have been for a new era in Husker football. The last few have been exhausting... GBR

  16. Did Tressel ever refer to Nebraska as his dream job? Did Tressel's parents ever live in Lincoln? Did Tressel win a National Championship as a player for Nebraska? So, yeah, maybe not much comparison.

  17. I have been all over the country and live in LA. Tuscaloosa, Knoxville, Norman, Austin, Seattle, Happy Valley, Columbus, Gainesville, etc would be considered boring and lame to most residents here. The point is to not talk negatively about these places but that I think location is so overblown. Nebraska unfortunately gets killed for a bad stereotype. Lincoln is so neat and clean. Memorial Stadium looks so damn amazing off the interstate, that it almost looks fake. I don't buy it. Nebraska is big time.

  18. Re: Thamel predicting Frost the Florida and Leach to Nebraska. these media guys also know that if you troll Nebraska fans they will drive up clicks on their articles.

  19. I think everybody, and all involved are well aware of that. There's a notion out there that you can't recruit to Nebraska. We might be surprised what a couple top 10 finishes in the final polls might do for Nebraska, and their recruiting.

  20. Playing catchup here. My thoughts on benning is that pretty much everyone thinks, wishes, believes or has insider info that Frost is N. So lets assume 99.9% of all people are correct. We need to unify the fanbase. Why bring up crap from 20 years ago that no one gives a crap about. He was a college kid dating or hooking up with a chick. WHO CARES. So if we need to unify the fan base dont try to be divisive over s#!t no one cares about. Frost is N- so I pay no attention to all the crap articles out there. Just put your seatbelts on ladies and gentlemen because until it is officially announced this upcoming monday or the following monday depending on how frost does there is going to be 100 articles from every media outlet around the country discussing scott frost and assumed offers and dollar amounts. All of which mean nothing- Frost is N. How much do we pay frost may change between now and then- but it doesnt change the outcome. I roll with Hedley on this- everything he has said lines up with a few sources I know.

  21. It actually makes me angry. I was a student during this time at UNL. I know the public details of the incident very well. Some of these former players allude to other things. It's almost like implied gossip. I hate it. It really makes me lose respect for these former players.

  22. Not to get too sappy, but this thread has given me happiness during some rough family times right now. No matter what happens at the end of the search, thank you all for bouncing ideas with me and entertaining me! I'm really happy to be a part of this board. Now come on home Frost, sign that dotted line and let's go win some big games!!!! GBR

  23. My oldest son surprised us tonight. He was set to attend UNO next year for college and told us tonight that he decided he wanted to serve and joined the Marines. I was literally speechless and am so VERY, VERY, VERY proud of him.

  24. So writing is on the wall for this season. Win or lose on Friday, it's the last game of the season for this team. Let's send them off right. Regardless of what happens on the field. Regardless of the outcome. How amazing would it be if when the game ends, Memorial stadium is a packed sea of red and the entire fan-base is on their feet clapping. "Through these gates pass the greatest fans in college football" Let's prove it on Friday. GBR!

  25. Everyone on our board is assuming Frost is a lock for Nebraska. It is definitely interesting coming here and seeing that there is still quite a bit of doubt. Maybe I’m living in the 90s somewhat, but I still definitely consider you guys a top 10 job.

  26. Tennessee Rivals site continues to report that they are hearing Frost to NU. They have Mullen, Gruden (who even they say isn't going there), Campbell and Schiano as the likely candidates for their job.

  27. I think the best sign that we might have Frost locked up is that we haven't heard any other names gain traction in the rumor mill. You'd think at least another name or two would have come through.

  29. I think that if we don't get Frost, it will send a vey negative message. The last one to lead us to a championship, the favorite son, chosen one etc, doesn't choose us. "What a dumpster fire we must be". Appears no real national media is giving us a chance to get Frost. We are still viewed as an "also ran" that can't get our own guy.....

  33. I agree, wins are important, but for me it's just being competitive (from which wins will come). I'm sick to death of seeing lackluster Husker teams get blown out by teams that should be our peers. I'm sick of seeing teams like 2017 Minnesota or 2015 Purdue run roughshod over us. I want to see an offense that has fire in their eyes, and an attacking, aggressive defense. What I most want to see, in all aspects of the game, is a team that has an identity. They know who/what they are, what they're about, and they attempt to inflict that on their opponent. That's what being competitive is, to me. No kid grows up wanting to "take what the defense gives us," or grows up wanting to play a prevent defense their entire college career. They want to smash someone, whether they're an offensive lineman or a Safety. It seems like with Bo's mishmash offense and bend-but-don't break defense, and whatever the hell Langsdorf and/or Banker/Diaco are doing, they're putting our kids in a passive mode. Winning football isn't passive, it's aggressive, predatory, dictatorial. It's no wonder kids have been disinterested in games when the schemes they're required to adhere to are boring AF.

  34. I haven't listened to Benning's segment this morning, but I don't think it's the case that "Benning doesn't like Frost". I am sure Benning has questions on what happened the night LP beat Kate McEwen, and there were a lot of rumors going through the team at the time. Benning has mentioned that he and Frost spent A LOT of time together during those years, as well. The would hang out a lot in the Claremont apartments in Lincoln, as they would hang out with mutual friends. Benning has said that he keeps in touch with Frost, although it's been about a year since they last spoke one on one. I don't think he and Frost would have regular contact if they "didn't like each other".

  36. That's embarrassing on DB & Jay Moore's part if that's how it actually came out. There is ZERO reason to rehash that crap. It wasn't worth talking about 20 years ago when Frost took over the team, and it isn't worth talking about now. I'll actually have to listen to that podcast. I have a hard time believing they really think that episode is relevant today.
