As @Mavric said, Diaco coached the DL to push or squeeze the pocket, not to rush the QB. Playing your DBs so far off, and not requiring or wanting an effective pass rush, just from a schematic sense, is severely problematic. Side Note: My goodness, in the last ~11 years we've had: Kevin Cosgrove, Mark Banker, and Bob Diaco as DCs. Three of the historically worst DCs of all time in the modern era have all been on Nebraska's coaching staff. It's sad enough to make you cry.

There was no pass rush because Diaco coached the defensive lineman to play contain and not rush the passer. So that's still the same problem. Just with one more degree.

"undecided". I almost always vote. And I guess I'm undecided in every race. I wait and see who I like best. I don't care which party they're from. I vote Democrat and Republican about equally often. When neither of the major parties fields a halfway decent candidate, I vote independent. (like the last POTUS election. ugh)

Eh, the thing that helped Banker was he played against a bunch of terrible offenses. When you look at yards per play allowed compared to what the opponents did the rest of the season, the 2015 defense was right up there with Cosgrove.

He’s been the most popular Democrat, other than Obama, for decades. He’s lauded, applauded, celebrated, and honored by Democrats. He’s a speaker at Democratic events, rallies, and conventions...often the keynote speaker. He’s made tens of millions of dollars based on his popularity among Democrats. Championing a rapist and serial sexual predator is appalling in a vacuum. Doing so while shrieking about #METOO is unbelievably hypocritical.

If California was its own nation, it would be the fifth largest economy in the world, distributed across a healthy variety of sectors. It returns more into the federal breadbasket than any other state, thus propping up a lot of states that brag about their lower taxes and pro-business, deregulation attitudes. Some of the most conservative regions of California also tend to be far more dependent on federal funds. When they interview these people, they are charmingly unaware of that fact. The state is far from failing, but it struggles with its huge budget and all the people and politicians who demand a piece of it. Education is a serious problem, but it's rooted partly in the 1970s tax revolt that limited state funding. Infrastructure is a problem across the country, and I'm not sure if California is uniquely accountable, or how a partition would help -- especially since infrastructure depends on shared responsibility that isn't reliant on the wealth of each region. California is really screwed up because of the ridiculously high cost of housing. That is an old-fashioned supply & demand issue. Also, this multi-state story comes up in California every few years. Someone had a 7 state partition a few years back. It's good for a feature story or two, but has no chance of going anywhere politically. I believe Western Nebraska ranchers agitate for secession from the Eastern Nebraska powers-that-be every few years.

Well opinions vary, but when your defense is at the bottom of all four major statistical categories, clearly you suck as a DC. Do I need to post links to show just how bad those defenses were? I mean I agree with you in that I am glad they are gone, but let's not try and re-write history to make it that they were somehow better than what their stats ranking showed.

I don't like Clinton and he's probably a scumbag. But, focusing just on Lewinsky here, she was well into adulthood. She wasn't some vulnerable little girl. Women are not vulnerable by default - but that's the message I hear when I see this argument. It's very possible she knew exactly what she wanted and went after it. This is all assuming there was in no way any implied consequences given to her by Clinton if she didn't agree to it. I don't think office relationships between a boss and an inferior automatically fall under the sexual harassment/assault umbrella. They are likely to, but there are cases when both adults in that situation want it.

I thought his response to the SOTU address this year was pretty well done, though I hope he eases up on his chapstick usage. I tend to think he's maybe too young to make the jump, though I agree with the rest of your list. He is a very good speaker. Fun fact: The only president to be elected straight out of the House was James A. Garfield in 1880. Ford was elected VP. Given you generally want someone with more governing experience, I think Kennedy would make an excellent VP candidate. My GF really loves Warren. I tend to think she'd make a better VP as well, since her unabashedly progressive views might turn off people like Knapp who are looking for a moderate IF they are also more amenable to a second term for Trump.

Clinton never was covicted of rape or he would be in jail right now . I don’t think him getting a bj from a concenting adult necessarily puts him in the predatory category either . He didn’t get impeached for that anyway, he got impeached for lying about it , which is pretty normal human behavior to me . I didn’t think it was a big deal then and don’t now , but if we’re gonna say it is, then we need to look into Trumps long list of accusers too .

Conspiracy theory: Frost injured his ankle on this trip, requiring surgery. They show everyone going down, but there isn't really anything on them going back up. My guess is he tweaked his ankle on the trek back up and that's why they don't show much of it. He said the surgery was to fix something from his playing days, which is probably true. According to Marty Smith's Twitter account, it looks like the trek occurred on May 21 or 22. Frost tweaks his old injury, then has surgery shortly after. That's why he was on crutches on the state tour in western Nebraska. What does all of this mean? Nothing really. Just something that popped into my head watching the segment.

Recently saw on another message board (hey, when i'm bored, i wander sometimes) paraphrasing: OP: Cosgrove is now DC at New Mexico. I had no idea he was still coaching. 1st response: Neither did many of his players.

It seems McCabe and others hid the Weiner emails, fearing what was there, and hoping to keep from revealing them until after the election. Comey, assuming Hillary would win as it wasn’t really in doubt, feared that if the emails came out after a Hillary election, they would damage her legitimacy. He also had promised Comgress that he would notify them of any new news on that front. Sp when he got wind, he sprung into action to protect the FBI’s reputation and his own. Let’s be honest...Comey’s ‘higher loyalty’ has always been to himself. So Hillary should have been charged and they did her a favor by excusing her crimes. McCabe should have revealed the Weiner emails immediately, thought he was helping Hillary, and inadvertently hurt her by delaying things until so close to the election. And Comey, who assumed Hillary’s election was a sure thing and wanted it to be legitimate, was trying to help her but ended up hurting her.

I think they’re right... ...if this effect is what chromostereopsis is. Surprised I had never run across this before. Try this- close one eye, look at it for awhile and then close the other eye. Strange...one eye I don’t see any effect and the other eye it seems to slightly reverse which color stands up from when viewing with both eyes. After a little more reading, also of interest, I see the blue as rising above the red but apparently the more common way is for people to see the red rising above the blue. Curious to know how others here see it ?

I find it quite perplexing how a state with vast wealth in natural resources, agricultural products and high technology development can be on the cusp of bankruptcy. I suspect incompetent and/or crooked politicians played a major role.

Diane Feinstein and all the Dems have a bill going forward tomorrow to stop this ... they need one R to cross party lines for a majority. Would be a great time for Ben Sasse, Flake or Corker to stand up and follow through with their words.

I remember watching Oregon about 9 yrs ago and hey just got the ball to like, 8 different guys who seemed ready to take it to the house every play. Didn’t know their names, whence they came, or follow them at all. But they were dangerous and effective. I think kids like this player are in that vein. Except, I love Nebraska football and know all about him lol cant wait to see all this talent.

Diaco had no choice but to play soft coverage as there was zero pass rush. You can't play tight if you can't get to the qb or you'll just give up bombs all day long. Not defending the guy in general, he was a bit touched and was not a good fit here, but the coverage decision was the only one he could make last year.

I don’t know him so I don’t know his motivation. However, California as a state, is a failed entity financially. Three smaller dtates would have more local control and input into what happens.....which I tend to think is a good thing.

Not from Friday Night Lights but just sticking this here. It's from the June 11th camp, made by a parent of one of the attendees. There's a little speech by Frost at 9:45 about keeping the GPA high, and about how the coaches will look at their social media before considering recruiting them.

I rescued a baby robin this morning. There's a nest of robins in a tree branch just outside our second story bathroom. Robins nest there every year. This morning there was a ruckus out there at around 5:00 am. A bunch of birds squawking. I looked out and could see several birds flying around a robin's nest. They seemed to be attacking each other. When I went outside a little bit later part of the robin's nest was on the patio, along with a baby robin. I think blue jays tore the a chunk out of the nest and dumped the baby robins out. They might have carried off one or two other baby robins, because there is usually more than one. Anyway I was watering some flowers and doing a bit of yard work while it was still cool morning, and all the while the two adult robins were hopping around all agitated about their baby sitting there on the patio. I kept my distance to see what would happen because robins (or any bird for that matter) generally won't accept their own baby if you pick it up or mess with it. They'll just abandon it. But this baby robin was far to young to fly yet, and I figured it wouldn't survive down on the ground. So I got out a ladder, put on some work gloves, and carefully put the baby robin back in its nest. After that the two adult robins calmed down, and were hanging around the nest. I don't think they'll abandon the baby robin, even though I picked it up. Hopefully the blue jays won't be back. edit: Tonight when I got home from work one of the adult robins was sitting on the nest. So I guess they didn't abandon the baby robin.

Diaco's soft, scared, passive, and play the CBs 10 yards off the line of scrimmage had more to do with that than anything else.

Man I thought I had it bad when I was in sales paying for Blue cross/ blue shield 180 a month in the early 2000's. That was great coverage, it must be double or triple that now. This is a hyper inflating monster thats not going to slow, there has to be an eventual collapse to it. If not for the insurance companies most the doctors would be out of business as they are way priced out of the market. If you ever watch or read about a foreigner who had to use our services for some reason without insurance, often you will hear them say(and I heard this 3 times myself), extortion, or extortionate prices. That's where we are at right now. But it's a bit funny and troubling that the insurance/doctor co-dependency is very similar to the espn/pay tv co dependency. Insurances just accept the price increases from the medical community no matter how absurd(like the pills that went from $20 per 500 to $1600 per 500 in one year)and pass the price hikes along to us. To bad there is no Netflix of medicine to disrupt the cycle. Really though, we can talk about Obama care or whatever care, the bottom line is, the first thing your taxes should go to is your healthcare coverage as there is nothing more important then your or your family's health. Not any tanks, not any roads, not any moon lander(as much as i love them), without your life none of that matters obviously. Some like to point out though that they dont want to carry others or pay an unequal amount towards the pot. But if everyone picked and chose we could eliminate good 90% of Americans from healthcare, because you cost more because you are to poor, you are to fat, you eat to much fast food, you have a genetic predisposition towards certain sicknesses, you like to drive fast, you ski, you are plain to dumb to survive etc etc..... We really just need to get together as a country on this, it is just plain the right and decent thing to do. people should not have to play Russian roulette when they get a bump and hope it goes away or risk their family going into decades long debt. the whole thing just reeks of Dickensian England and no, despite how nice the period dramas make it look from the view of the upper class, you would not want to live there as anything but them.
