  2. The less chaos part is important. The termed it "a more diplomatic approach to domestic/foreign policy" but what they meant was Trump has completely lost control of the machine. In particular, a healthy economy requires fully grappling with COVID-19. The economy can never fully rebound if we aren't doing everything we can to contain and mitigate the virus. Trump isn't capable of doing that.

  3. One of the mostly ignored side-issues of the proposed NBA re-start is that without crowd noise and PA blather, the broadcasts will pick up everything the players are actually saying on court. And there are some serious trash-talkers out there. The kind of stuff that would cause a mere corporate CEO to lose his job. Could be good for ratings.

  4. There'll be sports from other countries where they stopped the spread. In some totally mysterious, unreplicatable way that is most likely pure chance and not related to any conscious decision made by the citizens of those countries.

  6. I'm really losing faith that we get a fall season and I have no idea what I am going to do with my life without football in the fall. That's like the only reason I like fall.

  7. Well...they already weren't playing football anyway HAHAHA

  8. It's hard to believe we need headlines like this but here we are. Your job, if you want football, is to convince everyone in charge of football that it's not going to ruin them financially to play football. You do that by wearing a mask and turning the infection rate down.

  10. Then go post at HuskerMax. This place is doing what it's historically done. And it's been, and continues to be, the best Husker message board on the webz. See ya.

  11. Basically, everyone is a libertarian till people start talking about the benefit they get from the government....then all of a sudden it gets switched to how justified it is. Fact is, we all benefit from the government....and all of us should work to not rely on the government.....but sometimes that's not possible..so you rely on the government....but that shouldn't stop you from trying to get away from relying on the government....and stop complaining when someone else needs to rely on the government like you're some kind of saint for not relying on the government because you do.

  13. These are the kinds of things responsible people have to think about when the virus is out of control like this. There's a reason other nations are shutting their borders to America. Our response to this virus has been a joke. Other countries are going to have sports this year. It's not likely we will - at least, not college football. And if there's no college football, how are other schools going to afford their other sports? And if those other schools don't play, Nebraska doesn't play, either.

  17. I'd just like to see them stick around. Most of them (especially Riley's guys) bolted after a year or so. Which has a lot to do with what we saw last year.

  18. You are welcome. But don't get upset when people don't believe in "defunding" the police...

  19. We will keep saying defund thanks

  20. Proud Boys has to be the world's worst name for any group. Also, they really need to stop saying "defund" because it doesn't mean what they are trying to say what it means and that is where problems come in to play, they are unclear with their wording. CHAZ had a "defunded" police force...and in 10 days there were shootings, a murder, sexual assault, theft, vandalism and it needed to be shut down. One of the guys shot was BEGGING for the police.

  21. But the f#&%ing morons can't even mandate masks or recommend social distancing because they're playing a political game for re-election. We can't even get on the same page about the absolute bare minimum.

  22. Dear lord yes. Some people act like the whole WR group was crap, but Spielman and Robinson were great. It going from Stanley Morgan to Kanawai Noa that really killed us. I don't know whether Manning or Betts will be the man, but I sure hope one of them steps up big for us.

  26. In regards to the WR depth discussion as impacted by Nixon's injury...I kind of think Nixon would of been a 4 game RS guy. More of a depth guy for his first year. I like his highlights. He reminds me of Shane Swanson who was a good player. I think it's the way he runs& his build? Good all-around player and tough for his size. I think his impact would be in the slot or z spots which is in pretty good shape. So I think our WR group will be fine. In addition to those named earlier I think Falck could help out in a simliar role as Warner and he has experience. I like Brown as a playmaker to go along with Robinson. I am also curious to see what Nance can do as a play maker as I think he is very sudden. Will also be interesting to see how the addition of X spot guys like Manning&Betts helps this group. It's what was missing last year.

  30. Both probably would have played this fall. Newsome more on ST but had been catching the coaches eyes. I think Nixon would have contributed a good amount. His versatility would’ve put him ahead of Fleming and Brown easily and honestly believe he’d be the biggest new WR contributor not named Manning

  33. I took my first ever foray into pickling last week, mostly on a whim. But, I had NO idea that everything would turn out so well. Home made pickles are better than any store bought pickle I've ever had. I'd be interested to know what kinds of things fellow board members have pickled, if you have any favorite recipes, tips, etc. My wife and I also started planting vegetables in a garden this year (mostly tomatoes/cucumbers), but I think we're going to expand to a wider variety next year.

  35. As with any idea or movement, there are people who go to the extreme without thinking it through. There are people at these protests that don't want any more police anywhere. The more reasonable people, still want police because they know to a certain extent, they are needed. But, they want less money spent on guns and forms of violent confrontation and more on social work and non-violent interaction with people in situations. I'm all for doing what it takes to greatly decrease the police violence in some of these departments. Also, for the most part, the problem issues are not in small town America and the departments here that most of us Husker fans are used to. But, those departments are very different than what you will find in Chicago, NYC, LA., Atlanta...etc. I'll have to admit that this makes me nervous. I read a headline somewhere a week or two ago that claimed there had been a crime spike in cities that had said they were defunding/rebuilding their police departments. The sad issue is that there is a certain segment of the population that is frothing at the mouth with the prospects of less police and diminished crime fighting capabilities.

  36. You mean to tell me that in a hugely Red state, whose population consumes conservative media like it's candy, that the messaging coming out of the White House is the same or similar to what people think/feel?

  37. The reason we offer 400 kids is to “build the brand” aka get the kids talking about N even if they are not “real” offers. Let’s be real..nobody outside of the Midwest that is 17/18 knows anything about Nebraska anymore. It’s a PR strategy.

  38. We offer 400 kids each year ... so I don't know how much "evaluation" goes into all of those 400 offers. It's kinda crazy to me and dilutes the value of the offer. Still, within all those offers it seems to come down to "connection" and "relationship" [which is another reason why I don't get the 400 offers]. So, I'm with the view that our recruiters work hard to connect with who they like and believe [in the end] they can get [worth the effort]. To me, it's the recruit that can get "messed up" by how Covid is changing their evaluation. The school has to commit to four years to the prospect in the offer ... the recruit has all sorts of "outs" [and that will probably increase under Covid]. One thing that could "mess us up" that I haven't seen discussed is if the season gets delayed. What I'd we only play the last 8 games? What if we go 2-6 or 3-5 with a losing season? What perception is created and is the "Frost effect" totally gone and how does that effect recruiting going forward?

  39. I think what the article said about losing focus after receiving national accolades is spot on. I can’t imagine how hard it is for a 19 year old kid to stay focused and not be feeling a little invincible after being named a heisman candidate after his freshman year. Especially at Nebraska we’re we’ve had tons of past success and are yearning to see success again.

  40. Moderate deal, imo. I thought Nixon had a chance to give us some go. Newsome was going to provide solid depth as #3/#4 CB and ST.
