Considering most of your posts are some combination of wildly incorrect, offensive, or detached from reality, I am going to trust our coaches' evaluations of quarterbacks over yours. Have a good one!7 points

So, if Smothers would have been 1 for 3 with a swing pass that went for 90 yards, you would be feeling awesome about him. 30 yards per attempt..WOOOHOOO!!!!5 points

Smothers was 8-13 with no interceptions? Pretty rough judgement for a kid who has only been in one scripted scrimmage at the college level. Haarberg looked like a green kid who didn't know much - to be expected for someone who just joined the team. However, he seemed to be settling in pretty well and tossed the touchdown that won the game in the end. Potential is there, even if the negative individuals in our fan base don't want to acknowledge it.5 points

Not sure why someone thought this comment was funny. Fact is, we have more QB depth right now than we have had in a long time.5 points

NU will start off 3-0 and head to Norman ranked in the top 25, they will lose that game but they won't drop much and they will hang around 20-25 all year.4 points

If we had gotten Joe Burrow, it is a KNOWN FACT that COVID-19 never would have happened. KNOWN FACT, muchachos.4 points

it is part of making a case to trust the coaches, they at least know the players' names.4 points

So other QBs get the benefit of the doubt on small sample size but not ours. Seems legit.4 points

I have an employee whose brother was an extreme anti vaxer that thought the government was implanting chips. He died over the weekend from COVID. Not all posts like that are some Biden administration's back room attempt to fool everyone into getting vaccinated.4 points
-
Small sample size- at the end of the day yards per attempt is the metric I love and he averaged 10 yards per attempt. Our guy averaged 6. Im guessing Fields will have a better career than Smothers- being able to consistently complete the long ball matters.4 points

Nothing against Ahman Green, as he was an awesome Husker and had great years in the NFL, I just struggle with hiring guys just because he was a great, former Husker. Has Ahman done any coaching at any level since retiring in the NFL?4 points

I'm not sure why so many people accept this concept.. We have the #4 dual threat QB in the nation from 2019 on our roster. He wasn't ready last year understandably but after a full year of fairly normal football activities, he should be ready to go. My guess is he is completely capable of being a great QB if he is needed for whatever reason.4 points

Ya know what I can’t wait for? The first playoff poll. I was going to start a way too early dedicated thread informing everyone of that fact but I see we already have a way too early similar posting here so…..3 points

The ENTIRE thought process is NU has consistently made poor decisions on evaluating QBs and developing QBs. Their decision making has been poor at best and shouldn't be trusted now. Empirically where have any of our QBs shown improvement? Luke- no one wanted him. When someone is number 2 on an insanely talented team AND he wants to play for you- you evaluate him correctly. Joe didn't develop all those skills overnight- he had a bunch of them before he transferred.3 points
-
Now give Adrian 2 first round WRs, a first round RB and LSU'S O-line, and visa versa for Burrow.3 points

time for a thread to end3 points

So, nothing these coaches have done with QBs in the past counts for anything. All evaluation needs to be had in the last 3 years while the rest of the team has gone through a complete roster rebuild. Ok.3 points

I snore bad enough that I probably am going to be told I have to wear two masks while sleeping too.3 points

What if you just take the top 6 from the PAC12 and let the remaining and the leftover Big XII form their own conference?3 points

What a clown. I guess we can assume he will wear a mask forever in public now since he has no right to breathe on anyone3 points

And all of that wouldn't have ever happened if he came to Nebraska. So much of his success happened because he landed in a place that was full of talented guys. Your reasons to complain are a stretch man.3 points

@BigRedBuster My post was mostly tongue-in-cheek. I am for vaccinations. I'm sorry to hear about the anti-vaxxer. I too lost a friend in Houston because he thought the same way. It really sucks. And most of my friends in the community aren't getting vax no matter what (gov't trust issue). It sucks too. The vote Dem.3 points

So do you account for small sample size or no? Was our guy going against the #1 defense while Fields was going against the 2s or 3s? Also, please continue to whine about results when it hasn't been possible to have any results of any kind for most of the last nine months.3 points
-
Our guy averaged 6 yards per attempt AND he was locking in early on 1 guy and I wasnt impressed with his arm strength So my eyes didnt see great QB play. I want to see RESULTS not propaganda.3 points

Lauren Boebert can be a dummy in her own right, but it looks like her challenger is right up with her. These statements are so patently false and easily disproven. Is she a plant and trying to get Boebert re-elected?3 points

You're basing your evaluation of Smothers off of seeing one out of 15 total spring practices. Our coaches would have brought in a more experienced quarterback via transfer if they though Smothers or Haarberg weren't capable of being a competent backup.3 points
-
I would probably argue that QB depth means “multiple guys able to successfully execute the normal offence.” In this case the backups are extremely young and should AM2 go down for whatever reason (which we should all pray he doesn’t) I don’t think we’re anywhere close to that. That is not to say that if the OL executes to its potential that the backups can’t move the ball, just that the playbook needs to be drastically cut-down for both back up options (with Smothers likely requiring a higher run:pass ratio). Bottom line is if the OL was projected to be weak, this would be a bigger concert, but calling our QB Depth “good” requires a very optimistic world view.3 points
-
8-13 with the 1s. He did have 1 incompletion with the 2s. He didn't look like a world beater but anyone expecting that would be crazy. He got very little work leading up to this spring since he was 3rd on the depth chart during the Covid year. Pretty tough to make a complete judgement of the kid under those circumstances imo. The only other body of work we can compare to is his high school career- which was pretty damn good. Have you watched the kids highlight video? Looks pretty capable imo. I am hoping we don't need him until next year or the year after but I believe he will be solid when his number is called.3 points

did anyone else read the article that said Ahman Green would be up to taking a coaching position at Nebraska? I'ld hire him.3 points

i appreciate him being serious now ....but a republican at 6 years old? i bet he was fun in kindergarten3 points

I think Adrian is going to surprise alot of people this year. With a better OL, a better group of recievers , I'm expecting great things from AM.3 points

Posthumously using Burrow's overall success at LSU as an indicator of what he would've done at Nebraska prior to experiencing any of that success is a fairly disingenuous argument. Burrow was a talented but relatively unknown commodity heading into his junior season. It's certainly possible (and perhaps even likely) that he ends up performing better than Adrian, but that opinion holds virtually no weight over any other because a lot of it is based on pure speculation. This topic is drawing far too much enmity given it's based almost entirely in an alternate reality.2 points

That's it. I'm going to stop covering my mouth or turning my head when I sneeze and cough. This is America, motherf#&%ers.2 points

i asked what he had done up to the point he transferred from tOSU and you said he won a heisman and a national championship. he did those things after he left. the coaches took a 4 yr player over a 2 yr player thinking there was more upside. they probably also werent expecting starting multiple walkon wrs after whiffing on several wrs. that doesnt even take into account the poor OL play the past 3 years. so not taking burrows wasnt a huge miss because burrows isnt getting drafted, winning a nc or the heisman playing at NU. he went to one of the best places to showcase his talents then had an OC his senior year develop a gameplan to showcase them even more.2 points

I dream of a day when there are politicians who don't make crap up. I understand slight exaggerations. But, just simply making crap up like this is unacceptable.2 points

^The goal and why vaccinations are important. Florida hospitals are now shutting down non-emergency surgeries so the beds are available for covid patients. This is where vaccines affect everyone. When hospitalizations are so high it can impact anyone needing medical care. We have a tool to decrease hospitalizations before they happen.2 points

I think MOST of us are tired of the super spin zone and sunshine pumping. We want RESULTS. I for one am only trusting what I have seen with my own eyes- because that has told me what we really have had each of the last 6 years. Those real world on the field observations has been a very good indicator of how good our players and team are. Not the overly optimistic cherry picking.2 points
-
It is very rare that at the FBS level, you have multiple QBs on the depth chart with enough playing time to be able to say "Yep, he's awesome and we've seen it". Fact is, you have to go off of potential and I believe we have two guys behind 2AM that have that potential. We haven't had that in a long time.2 points

One sided, inconsistent and politically motivated, unlike Fox News? I mean I agree with the sentiment generally but how do you choose a side when both sides are so clearly biased? Personally I wish they would ban all social media. That whole platform is responsible for so much of what is wrong, not only politically but with sports and social justice issues and so much more. It’s a cancer.2 points

I don’t think they want to go there. The only take they have on COVID is that lots of people may be coming across the border with. I don’t think they want to mention COVID. I think they run on immigration and border security to take back AZ and some blue areas of Texas and couple that with crime/defund the police and inflation if prices for everything are still high.2 points

32 may be too many. FOX would pay for more matchups between Mich, OSU, NU, PSU and USC, UCLA, Wash, Oregon...But I doubt it’s enough to support 32 teams. As it stands now the PAC12 would dilute the BIG 10 revenue, unless we just took a couple of the big boys like USC.2 points
